Potentially GREAT product UNDONE by one cheap piece of plastic...
Overall, I like this product a lot - except for one very annoying part - the "slide" part that gets installed on the door itself. The rest of the item is very well-built and sturdy - but - the weak link - is the thing that makes it all work - the channel that you screw to the door itself - it's a flimsy, brittle piece of plastic that cracked as I was installing it, and now the cracks in it cause the push-closing rod to get stuck - during both OPEN and CLOSE operations. Basically - you mount the solid / sturdy METAL spring loaded mechanism to the door frame and then line up / install the $0.0001 piece of plastic to the door. Once that is accomplished, you screw in the push-rod into one of the available holes in the spring-loaded side, and turn it to tighten the spring. They give you a second, shorter rod to help you with this, so you can hold the tension on the spring with one rod, while you unscrew and advance the position with a second rod - alternating rods until you get the spring wound tight enough to close the door you are installing it on. (ADVICE/NOTE: I STRONGLY recommend that you use something LONG with a comfortable handle, like a variable-tip screw driver body, to give you more leverage on the one post that you leave in during each step of the winding process - especially for the short rod - it'll be MUCH easier to hold once the load on the spring gets to "door closing" levels). Anyway - during the installation - and before I thought of the "ADVICE" I just gave you - one of the rods slipped out of my fingers, slammed against the door and CRACKED the piece of sh...I mean plastic rod-channel mounted to the door. The tip of the slide-rod was also very slightly scuffed, which also contributes to it catching in the channel - it seems that you have to play with the final rotation point of the push-rod - and find the "face" that best slides in the channel. Anyway - when this mishap occurred, it prompted me to improvise and that's when I started using the screw driver handle to hold the single rod during the spring winding AND I also loosened the (single) screw holding the slide on the door and rotated it to avoid any further damage to it (I moved a $0.00001 piece of plastic to protect it, and exposed a much more expensive door - but - hey, you do what you have to, right? ). At last - I got the spring wound tight enough to close the door (it's an outside door, and there was a slight breeze) - I rotated the channel back into position, damaged side furthest away from the push-rod, and tightened it. There were "cosmetic" covers for the screw holes on the main spring-loaded part - but - the dimple in the CENTER of the slide-guide channel did NOT have ANYTHING to fill it - which is another reason for the rod-rotation mentioned earlier (some positions caught firmly in this spot both opening and closing). My final thoughts...FIRST - if you're going to give me a cheap piece of plastic that the ENTIRE mechanism relies SO heavily on - maybe include 2 or 3 in the package...just saying; SECOND - give me something that snaps over the tip of the push-rod, so once it's installed and it's not going to need to be repeatedly moved away from the door surface (especially while it is under considerable tension), it could be installed to a more smooth/finished/operable surface; THIRD - give me something to fill the screw-hole dimple on the slide channel - or better - make it a two-piece - where the mounting part is screwed in, and the channel is snapped on over that - with NOT holes in the slide surface; FOURTH - give me something OTHER than plastic - there HAS TO be an inexpensive enough material that allows the rod to slide AND doesn't shatter when the 2" rod you're holding against 100lbs of torque slips out of your hands and slams into it; FIFTH - Do AWAY with the slide channel altogether - if the tip of the rod had a ball-bearing or tiny wheel at it's tip (think glass-cutter) - you could just provide a flat, double-faced tape sort of thing for it to roll over (instead of the face of the door) and FINALLY - did I mention that a SUPER CHEAP and BRITTLE piece of plastic made this otherwise GREAT device just about WORTHLESS TO ME??? SO...would I buy it / recommend it? YES - ONLY - if the installation instructions OPENLY WARNED you about damaging this super cheap piece of the product - or you at least knew about that going in - if they could solve this one weakest link - it would be a five-star product - especially at this price!!!

This closer is worth every penny and then some.
First off I will just get to the point, I would have paid twice the price and still been thankful and satisfied with this door closer! I like lounging around in just a pair of shorts and I spend more time in the computer room than any other room so I keep the house at 72 but keep my pc room at 80+. I have to keep the door closed obviously to achieve that but I have a cat and she needs to be able to come and go as she pleases. I didn't want to install a little cat door so I decided to try a door closer. The first one I ordered was literally just a spring that needed installed on the door hinge itself and the tension was way too high because its a featherweight interior door, the cat couldn't get in or out. So then I decided to try this closer at the lowest tension setting and as soon as I got it installed I called her (Tina) in to see if she could open it. She pushed it open quite easily and when it shut she was in the doorway but it was so light and slow it didn't bother her any at all. Now she comes in and out as she pleases and the door shuts behind her! This was such a good investment for what I needed and I couldn't be more thankful. The door closer was very simple to install and it hasn't made a single sound so far, it just closes the door silently as you would expect, and very lightly with the lowest tension which is very useful in many purposes. I would recommend this product to anyone who would like to keep a door shut (within the weight limit) especially if you have pets because it wont slam into them when it closes as long as you don't increase the tension. I hope this helps somebody in making their decision, the closer helped me solve my problem better than i could have expected.

it's an OK product
I'm writing this review after using it for exactly 2 years now, I bought it in March 2021, the installation was very easy however now, after 2 years of use it has started squeaking very badly and there is no way to open it and squert some oil inside and it's gone progressively worst now I might have to replace it soon.

It works for now!
I'm surprised how well this thing works for the price. It was easy to install. Except for the adjustment of the closing arm. They provide you with a small arm to hold back the spring in one hand and move the closing arm in the other. So depending on how heavy your door is you could end up like me using all my upper arm strength to hold back the spring. Be careful not to let it go! Not only does this damage your door surface but it could potentially hurt your hands. I recommend using a pot holder for force. Both the adjustment and closing arms can become difficult to turn depending on how greasy your fingers get. Keep paper towels nearby. I've had mine in place for about a month now. It still works. After some time I did tighten the arm one more notch and this thing does make some noise. And with my old wooden door it carries that coiling spring sound nicely. But it doesn't bother me. Do I expect this thing to last forever? No. Do I expect to buy another? Yes.

Es fácil de usar pero siento que le falta fuerza para cerrar por completo la puerta

Easy to install and works great!
I'm not one to leave reviews (good or bad) but I was so impressed with how quick and easy it was to install (It took less than 5 mins) and how well it works, I had to jump on and leave a 5 star review. Would definitely recommend!

Probably saved the cat's life
We have a very old senile cat that would lick the lemon oil wood polish (poisonous) off the lower bathroom vanity cabinets - we failed to remember to close this door about 25% of the time and she would get in there and make herself sick - PROBLEM SOLVED WITH THIS NEAT GADGET! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Bueno pero ruidoso
Cierra muy bien, con la tensión adecuada el cerrado es perfecto solamente que al ir cerrándose la puerta el dispositivo hace un sonido de resorte destensionandose que es algo molesto, pero por lo demás buena compra
