Lower gearing for my Mongoose Malus FAT Bike....fits stock BB....keep middle 32T chainring for 1x8
My Mongoose Malus was cursed with stock gearing WAAAAY to high for it's weight. It required both a larger Sunrace 13-34 (vs stock 14-28) rear cassette freewheel PLUS this Crank with the largest & smallest Chainrings removed so that I just have the single middle 32T chainring. This way the bike is still a 1x system. I DID have to remove the Bottom Bracket Axle & reverse it within the BB shell to get the 'chainline' correct, otherwise shifting was not good. Here's how: On this bike the BB Axle is 7" wide and it amounts to the fact that once stock crank is removed, there should be an uneven amount of axle protruding from BB cups / shell: I had 1.25" on the R (drive side) and just 1" on the L side. The problem was the new Vuelta Crank & Chainring were at least 1/4" too far to outside, making chainline angled too much, so that the chain wouldn't allow rotation backwards without jamming up & popping down to the next gear. NOT GOOD or Safe as you MUST be able to ride forwards AND spin backwards when required. So, to fix this for $0 I just removed the L side BB Lockring & spun out bearing cup, removed crank Axle and just re-inserted it so that the 1" was on the R - Drive side and the 1.25" on the L side. PERFECT - now the chainline is correct - this moved the Chainring to the Left 1/4" - now the chainline is ideal & shifting is spot on. So, this crank is a nice option for anyone who has a budget FAT Bike like the Mongoose Malus, Dolomite, Hitch, etc variants that may have TOO High gearing with a 36T front crank / chainring combo. Now, this 35-ish # FAT bike has gearing that is VERY appropriate for it's off road / climbing mission ! It's a shame that Mongoose gears these bikes WAY to high for any hill climbing when it really shouldn't cost any more to produce with the proper amount of Teeth on both the Front Crank & Rear Freewheel Cassette.

Good quality chainwheel
This crank set was for a 03' 26" Pacific 3X6 hybrid, conversion to 3 piece (American to English bottom bracket). To lower the gearing from original 3X cranks 48/38/28 chain rings. Removed 5 links from chain an it works fine. Installed on a 116mm spindle (68X116mm Shimano CT90) Small chain ring bolt heads interfered with adapter and had to be clearanced. It would of cleared a English BB shell as adapter was too proud (wide) in American shell. A 118mm spindle BB is the one I needed but I made this old Shimano BB work with a .060" copper spacer. About the chain ring teeth. Shimano cuts the teeth on their rings the same. If these other reviewers knew anything about chain rings there is no issue with the teeth.

Counterfeit, but Works Fine
If you are looking for a genuine Vuelta crankset, this isn't it. However, it is functional and suited my needs on my basic bike. I wanted a 22T crawl gear to pull a 100lb trailer up hills. To do this, I removed the 44T and 32T chainrings, leaving just the 22T behind. I may add a bash guard for aesthetics at a future date. This is a square taper diamond design (meaning the square is 45 degrees off from horizontal), so keep that in mind if you need replacement parts later. It's also 175mm in length. One other note - make sure you tighten the crank bolts to ~30 ft-lbs. I didn't initially and it felt like my crank was crooked. After tightening (per forums suggestions), everything was good. Overall, quality is fine, but know what you are getting isn't the real deal, just some copy cat part for a few bucks less. Still works well and for a basic bike, not a bad value.

Fits well on my 1987 FUJI Absolute Touring bike
This crank has brought a new life and look to mt 87 FUJI, I was a bit worried about the big gear being smaller then the original, but given the age of the bike and my progression in years, hitting 35 MPH or higher not in the cards anymore on a bike this old... The bike has no discernible difference in speed, and is now a 21 speed vs the old 14 speed and also looks less geriatric then it did with its original equipment :-) Rating a 4 for now as I have not given it a longevity test of years, may update after a year or two of usage!!!

Did the Job for 1X Conversion
Used this to successfully convert an old Shimano Tourney Drivetrain (riveted triple crank) to 1x with the standard 104mm bolt spacing to be able to fine tune gearing with normal narrow wide chainrings. Installation is easy if you have a crank puller tool. No real way to get square taper cranks off without one of those. Cranks themselves are pretty light and are working well. The threading for both the cranks and the pedals was a little rough. You can definitely tell this is a cheap alternative to true shimano/sram etc. A couple of good pedal strikes would likely destroy these things but for my commuter bike that only sees limited trail use they will do the trick just fine when I can't justify spending more than the bike is worth on new cranks.

Bought this crank because it was cheaper than replacing the worn our steel rings on my old crank. However, the listing says that it will fit a 110mm bottom bracket (which I have) - it doesn't. I attached the crank and as soon as I started to tighten it down on the spindle of the bottom bracket, I noticed that the low gear started to make contact with the chain stay - big problem. On further inspection, I noticed that the crank flange where it attaches to the spindle is recessed by about 10mm further than my current crank. I took the rings off and put them on my old crank - problem solved. I suppose I could have purchased a 120mm or 125mm bottom bracket and the crank would have been fine. The crank looks cool and appears to be of relative quality and value otherwise ($30), but the listing should be changed to reflect the correct bottom bracket size for compatibility.

Loving these cranks
So far loving it. After pulling all chain rings, including the middle 32T (I have a 34, 36, 38 and ordering a 32) to be able to customize to my needs. Guessing 34t with the Sunrace 8sp 13/34 freewheel will be the go to. Anyhow back to cranks, finish is awesome, love that it came with hex bolts with rubber washer to connect to spindle (bike came with bolts) crank puller screwed right in (threading good) pedals too. I can change out a chainring now in about 10 minutes. If you are upgrading a Mongoose fat, this is the ticket. Only drawback, almost gave 4 stars was long delivery time.

Great price, and a well made product for commuters ...
Great price, and a well made product for commuters bike, found that it sat snug into bottom bracket, and too close to the frame (it touched when tightened) with 113mm bottom bracket, fitted a 118 as it needed replaced anyway and then adequate distance from frame. Make sure you order the right one, there are two completely different cranks being sold under one description.

Not bad, no complains!
The cranks are quite of decent quality for how much you pay for and chainrings are basic but functional... So far, I have no complains about them. Only time will tell how well they will last... I bought these because they are the cheapest cranks (that I found) that lets you change the chainrings - converting to a single chainring (38T).

Do not buy.
Worst crank I've ever used. Advertised to fit 110 BB, It does not. You'll have to remove the 22T ring to make it fit. Also the 2 rings (44T & 32T) are too close together. With the chain on the 32T ring & small cassette cog, pedaling forward it rubs against the inside of the large ring. You'll have to remove the 44T ring & place spacers between it & the crank body. Unless you're accustomed to modding your bike, do not buy.

Stripped off the smallest and largest ring. Then I put the middle ring, and crank, on my cheap fat bike that was spec’d with a 36 chainring - much better. As advertised and 1/2 the price of an crank from the LBS.
