Doesn't use it
My hamster doesn't use this. Maybe I just don't know how to train her, but she doesn't use this for potty or for anything. I still have it in her cage just in case she ever decides to use it, but we've had this for 2 months and she hasn't used it once.

I was skeptical
And it works great! Our hamster started using it right away. The litter scoop is super tiny and cute, and you get used to using it. Felt a little awkward at first, but really, it wouldn't work if it was larger. The best part is that the litter cuts down on the smell, and cleaning the hamster cage just got easier!

Actually using these as food dishes now
I have two of these potties and both of my little robo dwarf hamsters used them as litter boxes as soon as I brought the hamsters home. I used Repti-Sand (desert white color) as the litter because it's easier to potty train robos with sand. The sand clumps pretty well. However, this potty is quite shallow, and the hamsters would first take a sand bath in the fresh sand I'd put in, which involves them digging around and flipping onto their backs and wiggling about with great joy, so sand would get kicked out of the potty. Also, scooping out the pee-soaked sand took some maneuvering because of the potty's lid. I don't like the scoop provided with this Kaytee potty, as the hamster head on the handle means I can't angle it as well (the Ware Critter Litter Small Pet potty's scoop is better). So, my hamsters loved to first take a sand bath and then pee in this Kaytee potty and it made keeping their cages clean so much easier, and I liked it but I wasn't totally in love with it. Instead I washed these potties and stored them, and now use small jars tilted on their side and the Ware Critter Litter Small Pet potties. So while I do like these Kaytee potties, they just really aren't necessary for potty training. Small glass jars work great tilted on their side with Repti-Sand in them (glass is nice especially if you have hamsters that like to chew on plastic, and it doesn't absorb odors). Tuck the jar into a corner and voila, instant hamster potty. Several months later I realized the hammies might like these clean Kaytee potties as a food dish, and they do. It's a nice safe, covered place for them to sit & eat in their food (robos like to sit in their food dish). They don't pee in them - either they've forgotten that they used to be potties, or they've made the connection of "no sand, but there's food, so don't pee here". Extra bonus is I can place these in the top rack of dishwasher and get them really clean. Side note: I disagree with people who docked stars because there wasn't room in their hamster's cage for this potty. The potty isn't that big... the problem is probably that their cage is too small (you need a minimum of 360 square inches per hamster, even if they're sharing a cage).

Hamster plays in it, having to buy replacement potty litter , digs and kicks it outside the container

Did NOT come with sample of litter
Was looking forward to trying this out for my new little Critter, but there was no sample of litter, so now I have to wait for some to come. Would have been nice to try it right away.

Who knew you could potty train a hamster?! ...
Who knew you could potty train a hamster?! Makes weekly cage cleanings so much easier. It didn't take much for me to potty train my hamster either. I just gave him 2 days to familiarize himself with his new home after getting him at my local pet store. Initially, he pooped everywhere! Tubes, bedding, you name it... he pooped it in. After 2 days, I simply put in the Kaytee Potty and removed all his poop from the cage. I added a scoop of his poop to the potty and it was a done deal. He just started using the potty afterwards and continues to do so—I've had him for at least 2 weeks now. I bought this for my Syrian hamster and while he could fit inside the potty and use it, I ended up taking off the top cover as it seemed uncomfortable for him to use—he had to squeeze in just to poop or pee. Because of its size, it's probably best for use with a dwarf hamster. If you have a Syrian hamster (or any non-dwarf hamster), look intoWare Manufacturing Critter Litter Small Pet Training Kit with Handy Guide as its bigger and more suitable for bigger hamsters. The transition was seamless in using the new potty. I just used some of the soiled litter from Kaytee Potty into the new one. One thing about the litter—my hamster likes to eat it! I'm sure it's safe for them, but I hate that he eats it. He doesn't seem to eat the litter included in the Ware Manufacturing Potty so I'm trying to find out if there's a way to purchase that litter.

Not bad, surprising coming from this company.
The top is prone to gerbil chomping on it. So within a day that part was utterly useless. Skeptical at first, I was surely surprised it worked. I was able to potty train her. Tho she'd still go outside sometimes (whether or not it was because she jail wanted to, wudnt used to it, or like a cat it had too much (_) in the litter box to wanna use it), this thing worked so well for potty training and as a bathroom, I not only didn't have to clean as much or as often (tho sometimes I'd do it for the heck of it) but people didn't believe that a gerbil used this / was potty trained.

GOOD
My hamster never uses this toilet, hahaha, she uses this little box to relax and thinking about life

I like it. My hamster doesn't
I think this is a good product but my hamster disagrees. She just empties the critter litter and sits in it. I tried following the instructions and relocating to where she poops and putting a little soiled litter in it but she just changes where she poops to somewhere else

Good, but Blue arrived, not Pink
Sturdy product, disappointed that not the same colour as in pic. Could have helped by giving colour option choice. Otherwise quality is great!

100% worth it, and works
I used this for my two mice, personally I used it without the litter after it ran out, they adapted to it really well and keeps the bedding cleaner, saving money on bedding.
