Good for warm weather only....
Cord is made of PVC plastic not rubber so is not anti-kink. I received it when it was ~ 52 degrees outside and the cord was stiff. I'm guessing it would loosen up around 75/80 degrees. My other 12/3 US Wire cord is made of rubber so is easy to maneuver on my lawn during the cold winter. Know what your'e getting.

Quality and Made in the USA
Wake up folks -- those of you who like me usually buy their extension cords at the big box stores or department stores -- that ain't the place to buy a quality extension cord. This extension cord is of absolute quality. My last cord I bought at the local big box hardware - paid just as much and it is made in China. After a little over a year, the outside cord wrapping is wearing away and you can actually see the wires underneath. I would say this extension cord -- Made in the USA -- will last longer than I will. I can put any tool or load on it and has no problems. When I plug the chinese cord into my 3.5HP Electric chainsaw or air compressor, the motor just hummmmms and won't spin up. Bought this cord for the chainsaw and air compressor. I can run both of them at the same time on this cord -- it carries that many amps. US Wire Heavy Duty cord is just what it advertises to be -- a top quality, made in America extension cord that will give you years and years of service. You cannot beat the price for this quality of extension cord. I actually found something made like things back in the days when manufacturers actually cared what they produced. Buy this -- you will not be disappointed.

Very low power drop and very sturdy...love it.
This cable is a beast. I used it for almost two months to charge my electric car (before moving into my own home with a garage) and it never got warm and experienced surprisingly little voltage drop. Any time I used this I plugged it into myP3 P4460 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor to keep track of how much I used it and how much current it was drawing and I was impressed. On a 120V circuit, the car draws a maximum of 12 amps, which comes out to 1,440 watts. The P3 P4460 typically showed about 118V and 11.6-11.7 amps, so over 50 feet this extension cord really did well. In very low temperatures, below maybe 20 degrees, the cord did get pretty stiff, but never so stiff that it cracked, broke, or was difficult to coil up or un-coil. The connectors on each end also seem very well made and feel very sturdy. After using this the way I did, charging for sometimes 10-15 hours on end, with so little current drop and lasting the way it did, I would certainly buy this again if I needed to.

Quality Item - Met my expectations
I needed to replace 10 year old extension cord that had done me well, but when we bought an EV, we needed to run 120v to the front of the EV. Using the Nissan supplied 120 device to charge until we receive our Level 2 I thought the old cord would be just fine. I had to move it around one day while charging and it was warm, at the socket points it was very warm. I knew the copper inside was either degraded and/or not the right gauge for the amount of electricity flowing through it. Also, heat means loss of electrical power as its simply being converted to heat and not flowing to the EV! I hooked up the new Heavy Duty Extension Cord and its heavy, stays in place, doesn't flip flop like the old cord. Immediately can tell the connectors, the orange coating are substantial and will withstand years of use. After 8 hours of charging 120v at 12amps continuously I grabbed the cord, - stone cold. No heat losses, and it seems after several days of charging activity that it transfers electricity much more efficiently that my old cord did. Safety was a concern to me and it took care of that.

Heavy and heavy duty
I needed 150 feet of extension cord for my Black & Decker edger. I had a 100 foot and a 25 foot. Combined, I was still short. I knew I was stretching things going 150 feet, so I went with this heavy gauge cord for my add-on. So far, after about 8 or 10 uses, it has been fine. No sign of overheating anywhere along the cord or along the original 100 foot cord. Note. This cord is HEAVY. Not just heavy duty, but also heavy. Rolling it up after edging my corner lot driveway, sidewalk, and curb, I really appreciate how heavy it is. However, my goal was to edge the whole lot and not have overheating. That is achieved with this 50 footer added to my standard gauge 100 foot cord. As to the weight, I just need to get in better shape! I have no hesitation about recommending this extension cord for any heavy duty application.

Just what I need.
The battery in my '91 Toyota Corolla is dead (from several months on non-use). I have a Sears Die-Hard battery charger (and starter), which I planned to use to "slow-charge" the battery back to life one afternoon. My problem is that when I rolled the charger out, along with my 25-foot outdoor extension cord, I was about 10 feet shy of the outdoor outlet. Bummer. I jumped on Amazon on Friday (March 21, 2014) and ordered this 50-foot, heavy duty, outdoor extension cord at a very reasonable price. With Amazon Prime, it was scheduled to be delivered on Monday (yesterday). IT CAME ON SUNDAY! I was amazed, but unfortunately, had a commitment Sunday afternoon, so I couldn't take advantage of the Sunday delivery. Monday, as it turns out, was very cold all day and I woke up to snow this morning. It's still snowing right now (4:20 PM), so it looks like tomorrow at the earliest before I can charge up the dead battery. I did test the cord indoors to make sure it worked (it did). I'm delighted with the quality of the heavy duty (12/3 gauge) cord and the price and completely blown away by the Sunday delivery. 5 stars all around!
