My new favorite humidifier
This is my fifth humidifier review here on Amazon and it's maybe the funniest. Not the review, but the situation around using this humidifier. Lets get one thing out of the way, there's no way this humidifier can run for 100 hours on one tank of water. I've used it for 7 straight days/nights and had to refill each day. It will get roughly 24 hours on one full tank of water, running on medium for those 24 hours. It would be an understatement to say I've been frustrated with humidifiers. They're either too frustrating to clean or they don't put out enough mist or they have some kind of fan that blows the mist over my bed while I sleep. Believe it or not, I liked this one and wanted to try it based on the fact that the company has accessories for it. I don't like buying extra parts for anything, but with all my humidifier problems, it's nice to see a company making efforts to fix problem areas in their products. So, what was so funny? I either hook up a new humidifier in our kitchen or bathroom and let it run for a little while before trying it in our bedroom. I filled the tank up on this one, turned the one knob to "cool", turned the mist control knob up about halfway and nothing happened. I had just returned a Vornado that misted whenever it decided it wanted to or whenever I pushed it. So I pushed this one. No mist. I left the room and left it running. I go back 10 minutes later and it looks like someone is having a misting convention in our bathroom. There was lots of mist coming out. I immediately turned it off and back on to see if it was going to be one of those frustrating humidifiers that are inconsistent in their misting. It wasn't. The mist started right up. I then, for fun, turned the mist all the way up and I was surprised over how much mist came out. I rated this a 5 star, but it's not without its faults. I agree with everyone who says there isn't any warm mist coming out of the humidifier. I tried it three times, the unit acts like it's switching as it pauses when you turn the knob from cool to warm, but it doesn't feel any different. This doesn't bother me. I couldn't imagine using warm mist. I'm one of those people who sleeps with a ceiling fan on all year, only use one blanket all year, so the cool mist is the only feature I am interested in, but it should be mentioned that I also don't feel warm mist coming out of this humidifier. There's another part that should be mentioned. This humidifier is harder to fill than the others I've reviewed. The tank is awkward if you're used to any other type of humidifier. Filling it is easy and the valve to close it, closes very tight. Maybe it's the orientation of the tank though that causes a few problems. I fill ours in the bathroom. The bathroom is about 20 ft from our bedroom. I drip water taking the tank to the bathroom and back to the bedroom. I've added a hand towel near it to stop this problem. I wouldn't think this humidifier would be easy for say a kid, an elderly person to fill and refill. That's probably enough cons to question why I would rate it 5 stars. It works. The spout the mist comes out of has two spouts. You could send mist to the right of the humidifier and to the left. I personally turn both towards our bed. This is the first humidifier I have tried that sends mist to both my wife and I. She's always complained about me using the humidifier and blocking the mist from her. This one puts out enough mist that it reaches both of us. Cleaning is pretty standard, but they've made one part easier. The plunger that releases the water from the tank has a square plastic housing around it instead of round. This gives me enough room to get a toothbrush in there to clean it instead of trying to come up with a way to clean the smaller round housing on most humidifiers. The tube in the middle that the water goes into to create the mist is also easily accessible and can be cleaned with a dish-type brush or if you're in a bind, stick a washcloth in it and swab it back and forth. While I do use humidifiers to keep the air in our house moist, it's also relaxing for me to feel the cool mist blowing on my face while I sleep. This one does that better than any I've used. It also has a few features others may like. It has a light you can turn on. It's fairly bright too. I could see that being used in a kid's room or baby nursery as a night light. There's also a red light on it for when it runs out of water. Both are nice features that I see customers posting questions about. The best part, at least for my wife, it's the quietest humidifier I've used. You will hear a soft gurgle maybe two to three times an hour and it's only for a few seconds. I also rated an Optimus humidifier a 5 star and still think it is. It's just I believe this one is better overall. Most of these extra features won't be used by me, but my only real concerns are cleaning and how much mist is put out. This one is the best are those two of all the humidifiers I've reviewed. On a side note, I'm now curious about their smaller one that's half the price of this one. If those problems, the weight of the filled tank, the awkwardness of carrying the tank, the no warm mist problem are major problems for you then you might look at that smaller one by this company or check out the Honeywell or Optimus I reviewed. Both of those perform well and have similar strengths to this one they just don't put out as much mist as this one. If you try one of these be sure to give it time to get the mist going on the first use. I was ready to pack it up and ship it back until the mist started coming out.

Simple but effective
I've owned three ultrasonic humidifiers from this company. They've generally worked fairly well. I prefer a manual switch for on and off since I use outlet timers to control when to put out humidity. The first two I purchased from Costco had mixed results. They tended to leak water out between the based and water container so I put them on a cookie sheet. One lasted about 3 winters. The other lasted 4 winters before the thing just stopped working completely though it had stopped leaking. I'd have to say they don't have any problems with slime or bacteria with our Chicago sourced city water. They are easy to clean. This model has a smaller tank, and that I don't like - but it's what was available. This version is much quieter all around. I hope it lasts at least 4 winters.

Quietest and best humidifier out there
This is the second purchase I made from this company. Humidifier is super quiet, works well, and easy to clean.

100-Hour? not exactly... a good buy just the same
I had previously owned a GermGuardian ultrasonic humidifier which performed well for me for several years until the fan motor seized.. (same logo and very similar appearance, so I presume the same company as this PureGuardian unit) I like to stay with companies that I know produce good products so I bought this one to replace the old one, and I am generally pleased with the purchase.. save one point. The '100-hour' claim is laughable at best. Maybe it would last 100 hours at the lowest setting, but a glass of water might last that long too, while adding no measurable moisture to the air... I use a humidifier mostly when I sleep to avoid having a dry mouth, and I put it on full blast, (MAX mist, warm) at 11pm last night. By 1pm today (the next day) it was empty. So 100-hours is actually only 14 until empty. Slight margin of error there. Perhaps there is a space/time dilation issue.. I am not an expert in these things. Maybe we can get a consult with Neil deGrasse Tyson. This point aside, I really do like it. It does have a good sized tank which lasts all night (approximately the same volume as the last one I had). It moves the mist with a good fan and smaller diameter dual directional openings, which create dual columns of high velocity mist, which evaporates into the air nicely instead of landing and wetting surfaces around it. It also has a switchable night light feature which has some desirability. The price point seems a bit high, but not much, and given that the last one had lasted something like 6 years of usage through the winter months, its not bad. If this one lasts like the last one did, I'll be satisfied. I don't like the obviously intentional misrepresentation of the tank capacity / duration, but I'm just going to chalk that up to being a marketing hook.

Very Quiet
We had a humidifier from this company that we wore out. It took a few years but it finally quit. We ordered this one and a cheaper one from another company and we are sending the cheap one back and we ordered another one of these today so we'll have two. This thing really puts out the mist and will run all night and until the middle of the next day before having to refill. It makes NO noise.

This machine brings it
This ultrasonic really pours out the mist. It will put out an entire 1.5 gallons of water in 12 hours if you're got it turned up to high. When I set the dial at the one-half point, II use about half a tank per 12 hour night to maintain 50 percent humidity in a 13' x 14' bedroom heated to 73 degrees. At high output the machine emits a noticeable hiss, but not enough to interrupt my sleep or concentration while reading. We use a timer with half hour tabs with settings on off for two one hour periods during the night. The machine is easy to clean when you have the tank and base separate. It is cumbersome to refill because the water tank must be turned over to access the fill port. The tank does fit nicely onto the base for this procedure. Otherwise you'd have a heck of a mess. Best to have a small towel handy if you must refill on a wooden or other surface that's susceptible to water damage or stains.

Usually a good brand but not this model
I have a couple other humidifiers from this brand in my kids bedrooms that have lasted for years. I like that they’re so easy to use, but my favourite feature is how easy they are to clean. I think that’s very important when it comes to humidifiers. However, this unit I’m not a fan of. It’s very difficult to clean properly, especially the spout. It’s also so big that you probably won’t often fill the tank all the way because it becomes very heavy to carry the tank. I tried the smaller 1 gallon model but the 2 I bought from Amazon we’re defective. So I’d only recommend the smaller (less than 1 gallon) models.

great Mist Humidifier
This is the 2nd one that I buy. The first one ran for almost non-stop for several years before it stop working. This is a 'mister', not a straight humidifier. I run it using an electronic humidistat to keep my guitar room at a constant humidity level. With the door of the room closed it does not need to run constantly, therefore the tank lasts a couple of weeks before needing a refill. It is quiet.

Quiet
We returned this unit. Worked very well the first time we filled it up and plugged it in. When we filled up the unit a second time, it did not mist anymore. We followed all the troubleshooting advise and when that didn’t work we contacted customer service and they told us to return it.

BON, MAIS...
Bon humidificateur, le seul bémol c'est le remplissage pour lequel faut tout le temps retirer la boîte, remplir, et la ramener sur la base de l'humidificateur, à la longue ça devient dérangeant.
