I would buy again!

I am following the style of some prior reviews and reporting on my experience 1 year after purchase. I want to note I bought two machines simultaneously for myself and my mom with equivalent experiences reported below. Pros: 1. The machine does a good job of cleaning the air and removing odors. I was living in a relatively old building with some older smells that became wholly absent once I started using this machine regularly. My mom is in a more modern living situation but notices a change with the machine running. 2. It is a powerful cleaner when left on full power for a space ~450 sqft (my apartment kitchen / living room) that eliminates allergens and food smells within an hour (my subjective noticing). 3. The device as a separate ionizer and UV-C germ-killing lamp. These can be run separately, together, or not at all which we found helpful for my mother and Is' diverse needs. 4. There is a user-defined timer for shutoff at 2, 4, or 6 hours. Although, I prefer to leave this on overnight and my mom all morning with the 6 hour set on full blast. 5. The filters fit nicely into the chassis. This means that the air is properly forced through the filters rather than around the edges. 6. Clean and replacement are incredibly easy to complete with little instruction. The design and guidance points built into the filter setup make maintenance a breeze. (NOTE: I have not had to replace much -- aside. from filter, with heavy use 1 year in). Cons: 1. Panel LED’s cannot be turned off which can be problematic at night when using it in one's bedroom (They. are. bright blue). 2. The consumables are expensive relatively expensive with $75.00 for a filter set replacement every six months or so. It is not clear to me how to address UV-C bulb replacement when it does not appear to be failing and at the price point of $35.00. 3. The “high” fan speed setting is a bit noisy but no more so than a sound cushioned portable fan. Many products are priced. much higher than what is reported. here and the price has dropped since purchase. I am still very pleased with the machine's performance due to both my mother and I's allergy issues and the machine's extreme efficiency at cleaning relatively large spaces quickly.

Effective, but bulky

Read a ton of great reviews for this product, so I purchased 4 of these. One arrived without filters, and I’m assuming the UV light was also missing, because the light wouldn’t stop flashing after I inserted filters from one of the other units to operate it. That unit was returned. As for the other 3 units, to be honest, they seem to work just like any other air filter. They’re fairly quiet, but noise isn’t a main concern. At the lowest setting, you can barely hear it; medium setting it sounds like water running in the next room over; at the highest setting, it’s pretty loud, and I think it would drown out the loudest snoring. One downside of these units is at night, because the lights are super bright. There’s no option to turn the lights off for nighttime sleeping, and that’s really inconvenient and annoying. We’ve had to cover the lights as best we could with thick towels. They sometimes fall off, and the lights are quite blinding bright blue/white LED looking lights. Another issue is it also doesn’t seem to help filter out smells. I’m not sure if it’s because the carbon filter inactivates after a day or two, but if smells are your goal, this is not for you. Our main reason for buying this air filter was primarily for allergies. It works fairly well compared to other air filters we have used and own. We feel the air quality has gotten a little better, but not substantially. I was hoping this would keep dust mites down to a minimum, because that’s our main allergen. It does an okay job at that, but I’m still on the hunt for a high quality filter that will be more effective on dust mites. I’d say our allergies are down by about 10% compared to using our Honeywell air filter. However, it’s not a bad filter for now. Lastly, these are quite big, and it says to keep clear a minimum of one foot around all sides for proper operation. They’re already quite large and bulky, so if you don’t have the space, these are going to be really inconvenient. Very easy to set up and change the filters though, and the rounded design of it makes it easy to clean and keep clean.
