Exact replacement
This was an exact replacement for a 42 year old transformer that failed for a central vacuum system. Fit perfectly.

You don't need a mounting plate if you aren't going to put it inside of a junction box
Got this to replace an old 10VA doorbell transformer. First off, after I figured out what was going on, it was easy to install. It seems quite robust (though the pigtails are the same braided crap that seem to come with everything--except, unlike some things, the ends aren't even soldered together, but whatever.) Second, if you've never installed an Edwards Signaling transformer (I had not) you might not get the strange screw and brace (?) on the 120V side. I thought I had to order a plate to use it. I was wrong. There is actually a pale picture on the box (which I seem to have discarded; I think it was on the top, and I only noticed it after I'd ordered a plate) that shows proper installation though a 1/2" knockout. And it's a piece of cake. It is now installed and running my new doorbell camera just fine.

The same product number but not the same design
I bought this item to replace a broken doorbell power source installed by the builder. This product has exactly the same product number of the same brand. But the design on the side connecting 110V is different than that of the original product. It cannot be screwed into the socket. Furthermore it is a little taller. It does do the job.

Good quality transformer for my Nest doorbell - mounted easily
Installing a Nest Hello doorbell in my home. The Nest Hello was working fine with my older 1997 era 10volt/18volt transformer -but- my original electronic doorbell chime wouldn’t ring reliably. Bought & installed this Edwards signaling version (tried 24v & 18v) but electronic chime still didn’t reliably ring (even after adjusting settings in my Neat app). So I found a vintage chime (not electronic) and that works great. I do think the Edwards transformer is a better quality than was there. Some reviews mentioned difficulty mounting to a junction box but I had no difficulty tightening the mounting plate screw to clamp the Edwards xformer to the box through a knock out hole.

Must Have for Ring Pro!
Not much to say about this other than the quality appears to be top notch and is a great transformer. For those with Ring Pro Video Doorbells AND use a mechanical doorbell, this is a must have! I live in a relatively new home, about 2 years old. Seems like the standard transformer is 16V 10amp. These work fine for a single doorbell, mechanical chime, and also power your address lights. When the Ring Pro is added, there just isn't enough amperage available to power everything at once. It worked fine for about 3 months, but the mechanical chime started to not work or only "ding" once. I called Ring support and they didn't even ask about my transformer. They just sent out the Ring Power Pro 2. While that was being shipped to me, I noticed on security camera fgotage one night that when the doorbell was rung, my address lights dimmed. LOL So I did some investigating and came to the determination that the amperage was not enough. This transformer did the trick and all is well now.

Fixed Non Working Ring Pro Doorbell
As so many have reported, this transformer made a brand new Ring Pro doorbell that would not work, actually work. The existing 16 volt, 10 volt-amp transformer seemed like it should work. It was putting out 18 volts at the main terminals (even though it says 16 on it), and this meets the advertised requirements of the Ring Pro. However, what Ring does not obviously mention in their required specs are the “volt-amps”. This is a secondary measurement that all transformers have. Sure you’ve got 16+ volts measured at the main output terminals, but the force behind that output voltage is the volt-amps. And unfortunately for me and many others, 10 volt-amps is not enough. You will need a transformer that can supply 16 volts at 20 volt-amps or higher. 30 volt-amps like this product is even better and immediately solved our problem with the Ring. This item is also exceptionally well built and heavier than other transformers I have encountered. It’s a quasi commercial grade and more than up to the task of powering a wired doorbell system. I highly recommend this for Ring doorbell installers.

NOW my doorbell works!
Used this for my BCS digital doorbell and it worked like a charm, I can finally enjoy my new doorbell. I tried a different brand and it quit after one month, it's only been a couple of weeks with this one so the jury is still out on it's longevity but if it quits I'll update this review. Otherwise this thing is a beast of a transformer, very thick coil pack and heavy, certainly feels like quality materials. The only cons are the box that it comes in is very thin, there aren't any instructions at all but you don't really need any, it is very simple to connect and I used the wiring diagram from the ????. Would definitely recommend at this time.

Perfect for Ring Pro with Mechanic existing Chime
My original was a 16v 10va for my Ring Pro doorbell. Had many issues as others have mentioned in that the Ring Pro would show a black screen with a progress spinner spinning forever occasionally when doorbell is rung or motion is detected. Two way audio is horrific also. I have decent fast cable internet, if you like to know (60MB down/5MB up). Minimal research tends to indicate that the 16v 10va transformer is adequate for Ring Pro itself, but is not if a mechanical chime is involved. It seems certain functions like ringing doorbell and occasional motion detection live views, the amp draw is at near limit of the 10VA or sometimes over the limit, causing the Ring Pro to reboot , hence the spinning black screen on t he APP. Anyways, in short... after upping it to the 16v 30VA this device provide, everything works dandy and great with no problems. All issues are now gone! The 30VA was more than adequate to power the Ring Pro and the mechanical chime. This is actually a very nice transformer in comparison to the other popular Nutone version I see on Amazon.
