I love this drill. for the price, it's unbeatable.
lots of power and easy on the hands. Great for drilling through cement. After 5 minutes of drilling through cement, my hands were not tired and the drill did not excessively heat up. I used a two foot long bit and there was no wobble once I evenly tightened the chock. The key is nice and big and hard to lose. I always paint mine florescent orange so I can spot them quickly. This model does not come with a built in work light.

Very strong
Drilling into solid cement was fast and easy. I was impressed as I am with all Makita products.Sadly I saw it on an auction site for $30 less but I needed 2 day shipping as I had a job I needed this tool on coming up in 3 days

The keyless model that I have did not hold up in the chuck.
I haven't used the drill yet, but I've used this brand before. It's a good brand. The delivery was on time.

Great drill. Lots of power. I like the quality and balance. Not too heavy either.

Absolutely horrible
Broke after 5 minutes but I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt since it could just be a defective unit. First of all it's not a 5/8" chuck. It's a 1/2" chuck with the "capability" of making a 5/8" hole in concrete. The torque is also very weak at low RPM so you basically you have to pin it at 2800. If you try to drill a .5" hole in steel (which they say you can), you will be running your bit at 370ft/min. You will burn your bit in 2 minutes if you run it like that. It also doesn't come with a carrying case which is midly annoying.

Excellent drill, light weight, powerful and reasonable (cost)

Lots of power but strange trigger.
Built like a Soviet era tractor with probably the same electronics. Lots of power to drive 16mm masonry drill through brickwork but the speed control was strange. With a little trigger pull it slowed down under load. More pull solved the problem but as soon as it hit a void it went up to max speed in a fraction of a second. This made it unsuitable for using as a screwdriver. On the odd occasion releasing the trigger left the drill rotating very slowly. To sum up it's a solidly built, powerful drill with odd speed control. Returned mine as possibly faulty.

Way better than my old drill
Good: solid construction; easy to control drill speed; proper chuck with key; seems a very professional piece of kit; NOT made in authoritarian China. Bad: Ideally it would have been slightly lighter - but you make your compromises

Great Drill
This is a fantastic drill which I bought as a replacement for a similar Makita drill which i've used for years. Its got a decent keyed chuck, not one of those useless keyless ones and is really good quality, especially for the price.
