Fairly easy to install

Ok after reading all of the reviews (thank you) and visiting the sites they recommend, the install went pretty smoothly. I have one of the fireplaces with the control box, so it was much easier. All I had to do was install the blower control thru the hole that was already a part of the fireplace bracket, put on a tightening nut and the put the switch on. Next I had to install the temperature sensor, once again there was already a bolt coming down so I just slid the sensor bracket on and used the included wing nut to secure it. Next you connect the wires to the blower control and temperature sensor and then clip the. Onto the proper slots in the control box. Honestly they hardest part was finding a place to hook the blower grounding wire. Then plug in the blower to the control box. I then turned on the fireplace and the blower turned on about 5-10 minutes later. I had it on a low setting and I didn't really notice the sound with the tv on. It definitely pushed the heat out much better than without the blower. I turned the fireplace off and the blower continued for another few minutes before shutting off.

Made in China, noisy, installation instructions not so great, probably would not purchase again. But it does work.....

I installed his on a Heat n Glo Intellifire Plus Fireplace Model 600CMOD-IPI to better circulate the heat in the room. Before installing the fan, the mantel got REALLY hot and frankly it felt like most of the heat went up the flue. Now the fireplace warms the room pretty quickly. The installation diagram was pretty useless for me so I just basically "figured it out" based on some of the installation manuals on the internet and the Youtube video by the manufacturer. Like the other reviewer, I couldn't figure out where the clip the ground, I ended up affixing it to one of the neutral terminals on my fireplace's electrical strip, but sounds like you can also clip it anywhere on the metal of the fireplace. The fan itself is of decent quality... we have a Heat n Glo OEM fan upstairs on that unit and I'd say this fan has a bit more of a "hum" to it especially at the lowest speed where the hum sort of drowns out the "whoosh" of the fan. I was pleased that the remote that comes with the fireplace controls the fan speed on this once it's hooked up to the appropriate port on the fireplace's electrical strip and connected to the module (original installers left a box that plugs into the control module of the fireplace as well as the electrical strip). If you don't have that you can use the enclosed control to select a speed and use the heat sensor to turn it on when the fireplace gets warm. I didn't use either of those in my installation but saved them in case I need them someday. Ideally this fan would be silent - I don't know if such a thing exists on fireplaces? but overall the improved efficiency of the fireplace and efficacy of heating the room outweighs the fan noise. The fan itself is MADE IN CHINA for what that's worth. Would I buy it again? Well, maybe. I ordered this because it was fulfilled by Amazon and I could get it via Prime and return if it there was an issue. However there are a number of vendors on the web that sell fans that are MADE IN THE USA and claim these are much better (quieter?) fans for only about $125. So if I had it to do over again I'd probably order from one of those. There is one company called fireplaceblowersonline that has youtube videos including a video by the owner telling us why his blowers are better than this Made in China stuff. Watching the video you realize the true pride and knowledge this guy has about fireplace blowers (who knew? a passion for blowers!) complete with detailed installation videos etc. If only he sold via Amazon... This was a very tight fit but it did fit through the opening under my fireplace. I will update this review if we run into durability issues but frankly this fireplace is in a bedroom and not used a whole lot so I would think it would last given the minimal use it will receive. Really helped turn our gas fireplace into an actual heater

Great fan for the money. Took about 15 minutes to install because our gas fireplace already had a plug-in style junction box. Instructions were very easy to understand. Fan took a few minutes to get through the existing wiring and into place. Fan itself has ball bearings which is not stated on specs. But should help with durability. Running at about 2/3 speed which is pretty quiet for the amount of air it moves.

Thermostat does not work in unit

Super easy and quick to install. Left fan blades started to rattle after a week of use. If unit is on for more then 25 min it starts to rattle. Thermostat also didn't work and had to be removed.

Increased efficiency

We use our fireplace a lot. We are the second owners of the house and I was surprised how little heat was coming out. I bought the fan a few years ago and have been pleased with the operation.

Didn't last 2 months

This was a nice, quiet blower motor... at first. This morning it started making noise. I shut it off to allow it to cool so I could see what the problem was. Now, it won't come on, it makes a humming noise like it is trying to work but I believe the bearings have already gone out. This hasn't even been installed for 2 months. Buyer beware.
