The clock is well made. It has a standard movement that does not seem any lower in quality than what you are used to in an economical clock. The center housing is solid metal and nicely fabricated. The wood rays are solidly attached and manufactured nicely. The only thing that was disappointing was the colors. The product photo when I made my purchase showed the clock with brighter greens and two distinct colors of blue. The clock I received had very muted colors and was hard to read. The green looked more like brown green. The two colors of blue were hardly discernible. I fixed the colors by buying Testor's model paint. See my attached photos. I'm not saying a did a perfect job picking the colors, but if you want to copy me, here is how: 1. Buy one each of the colors shown in the pictures (I got these at hobby lobby) 2. Get 6x sponge brushes, small (the small ones at the hardware store won't fit inside the paint jars, but I just poured the paint onto the brushes and it worked fine). 3. Mix the paints with a tooth pick, replace the lid and shake for a bit 4. Paint two coats of each color by dabbing the sponge brush (be careful not to bend the hour hand, support it with your fingers on the bottom side) 5. Paint color 1 coat 1, then throw the brush away. Wait 3 hours before painting color 2 coat 1 and throw away the brush. What three hours before painting color 3 coat 1 and throw away the brush. Don't get impatient, just chill out and take your time. It end up being 6, ten minute sessions. 6. Wait overnight before you start applying the second coats (don't skip letting coat 1 dry overnight), follow the same time schedule as you did for the first coats.

Gorgeous - it's just waiting for George Jetson!
Really like the look of the clock - it fits right in with our farmhouse/MCM decor. The 'sun rays' were a bit muted, so I took the advice of another buyer and painted them. That's the reason I took off 1 star; the photo advertising shows much brighter colors. I used matte folk art paints since I didn't want a shiny look; now the clock looks so cool! I painted 2 rays aqua, 2 harvest yellow, 2 avocado green, and 2 pimento orange; I left the 2 black and the other 2 blue rays as-is. Its so much brighter and more closely matches the MCM pieces we have. I definitely recommend.

This clock is a great replica for the price
This clock is a great replica for the price. Made of same materials as original with one big flaw. The colors of the bursts are way off. The green almost looks brown, orange is very muted and blues look almost identical. I removed all the sunbursts and spray painted them the true George Nelson colors and now I have a prefect replica at a quarter of the price for the Vitra Reproduction. This may be by design to avoid any copyright issues, but if you want a true replica of the original Nelson clock, these colors are not it. Otherwise great for the price.

Wow! Looks great
Got this the other day. I read numerous reviews. There were some that stated that the colors were too mutated and not real bright. One person even said to go an get some paint at a hobby store and paint it. I will agree the colors are not bright; however, that is exactly how it is supposed to be. Colors during the time when these were originally produced were much more muted. This in my opinion makes it look much more authentic.

Good price for this clock
I've had my eye on this clock for a couple of years, and this was the best price I've ever seen for the real thing. The only thing that disappointed me a little is that the colors are far more muted in real life than they appear in the photos. The aqua is more of a blue-grey; the orange is a dark rust; etc. I was thinking the orange was going to be a closer match to my bullet planter, but oh well. I'd still rather have this version than one of the copies. The too-bright colors look weird to me.

Beautiful, sturdy, nice-sized replica
This is a beautiful reproduction of the iconic mid-century modern original. I'm totally in love with the second shipment that I received. While the first clock I received was quite beautiful, it did not keep time. It would run for ten minutes and then stop dead. But Amazon remedied the situation expeditiously by sending a replacement. I took the defective unit to UPS, presented the electronic code, and Amazon Prime return shipping took it from there. Quick and painless. Great work, Amazon!

Crooked!
Do you remember that show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy? What does that show have to do with this clock? They told the unstylish straight guys to put their index fingers by their sideburns outwards to see if they are even. Elongating helped accentuate differences in height. Unfortunately, that's exactly what the bursts on this clock do! When I was hanging it, it just didn't quite look right. I measured, and re-measured, and I had it centered on the wall. Then I realized the bursts are not straight. Attaching pictures of measurements between 6 and 7 and 5 and 6. As you can see, the measurement between one is 12.5 cm, and the other is 13.5 cm. So the clock just looks weird because the bursts at 12 and 6 are not straight. This clock is too expensive to simply ignore such a big oversight. I will probably pony up and buy the real thing.

Great replica, colors not exactly as in picture
Looks great on my wall and the price is reasonable. Only complaint is there are more blue spikes than in the photo, and I can't tell with my naked eye if they're different in color from one another. I'd still recommend, just expect a slightly cooler, bluer clock. I also agree with other reviewers that the colors are soft which is better than too bright.
