Be careful when cleaning that you don't wash off the print!

This was a bit larger than I expected. I guess I could have measured it out first, but it was a nice surprise! It's a great, solid silicone mat and is what I was looking for. It is not the mesh kind which seems to be everywhere nowadays. I'm not using it for its intended purpose, but rather to mix and swatch nail polish on. Once the polish dries, it peels right off leaving the mat in perfect condition. Silicone and nail polish were made to go together! Any spills that happen come right off once it dries and it protects my work surface underneath the mat. The only downside is that even non-acetone remover takes the print off the mat, so be careful what you clean it with. I imagine that bleach would do the same thing, or other cleaning agents of that nature. (UPDATE: I have since discovered rubbing alcohol will also remove the print on the mat.) I'd recommend testing your cleaning product in a corner of the back side of the mat (where the print seems to be printed on) before you scrub down the whole thing to be on the safe side. Obviously non-acetone polish remover is on the extreme side, but I suspect any product with bleach (or any kind of dye remover - think icing, food coloring, etc) would probably do the same thing and that's not all that unheard of when cleaning kitchen items. I'm certainly not knocking the product in any way, just hoping my experience might help someone else protect their investment. It did come shipped flat, which was greatly appreciated! No trying to get it to lay down with heavy books or other objects which is awesome. It is fairly thick and seems like it will hold up quite well for its intended use, and even for what I intend to use it for. Just be careful if you actually need to use the printed parts that you don't wash it off.

Very Confusing

This rolling mat is very busy and difficult to use. In addition, the grid marks are 2” apart so they’re not very useful. For me, the primary purpose of a rolling mat is getting the dough the right size without having to use a tape measure. I found a better mat with 1” grid marks all over and without recipes I don’t want. I’m returning this product.

Not as Advertised

Received an item heavily used, scratched and with spots of what looks like an old dough. The "right" side of the baking mat, the one you use, has much duller print as the "wrong" side has an actual the marking. It is made of hard plastic, not the silicone, so you probably want to store it upright and not rolled or folded, otherwise you might damage the product or misshape it. It will slide on smooth counter surface, so you will need to use damp paper towel under it to keep it in place. Just a few things to mention.

Large with recipes

I chose this rating because I got it for my granddaughter who wants to bake pies like I have taught her, and never tried it myself, and also because it was shipped to me completely unrolled and is really large. Since I sent it on without unwrapping it, I don't know how easy it will be to store, if it can be rolled up or not. But my granddaughter was very excited about the recipes printed on it that she is eager to try. When I last visited her (she is 14) and she made a pie, there was no place to roll out a crust that wouldn't stick to the counter, so was impossible to pick up to a pie plate without tearing the crust dough. I just know she wont have any problem with this one. It is wonderful for any size crust.

inconvenient for storage

The baking mat is wide enough for me to roll my dough. The only issue is the material of the mat is not foldable, which is inconvenient for storage. Also there is no labeling saying this product is made in USA

pastry mat saves my counters

By accident I placed my old Tupperware Pastry mat in the oven to dry out. Forgetting I had placed it in there I turned the oven on hours later. It melted. I found a tupperware dealer that could get me one for $20. I found this one and I like it better. The mat does not move much and luckily it fits in with my cookie sheets. And it was less expensive then the $20 replacement tupperware.

The material is fantastic, washes easily

Clearly written dimensions on the mat. The material is fantastic, washes easily. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is sooo big, takes up a lot of counter (and storage) space - but maybe I didn't read dimensions right in the first place. Definitely a good pastry mat to have if you bake a lot and like a lot of room to get creative.

The Right Tool for All Pastry

I bought this seven years years ago to replace a pastry cloth. I love it. It protects my counter tops and can be scraped clean with a pastry blade like this one:OXO Good Grips Multi-purpose Stainless Steel Scraper & Chopper . If you're baking something sticky, just wipe it down and rinse it off. I store it standing on edge in a tall cabinet with things like pizza stones. No sign of curling after those seven years.
