Great help
When I was installing aluminum soffit and fascia you’re on a ladder or scaffolding up high and trying to hold onto small trim nails to fasten them. With this driver, you put the nail in the barrel of the driver, place it where you want to and then hit the bottom shaft of the nail driver with a hammer. It lessens dropped nails and wrong placement and also hammer dimples in the aluminum trim from missing the head of the nail. You get used to using it and can sense when the nail is driven in all the way and I watched on the barrel of the driver as after use the metal shows a little bit of scuffing or slightly different color that indicates when the nail is driven all the way. I would say it doubles your speed of nailing and lessens errors a lot, ie, bent nails, wrong spot when you slip. I got used to using an extra finger to place on the tool to hold the barrel and shaft together between hammer blows, otherwise in nailing mostly vertically, the shaft drops down with gravity to the bottom of the barrel and that slows down nailing a bit. Great tool, well constructed and decent price. If you’ve got a trim job coming, buy it, it looks like it will last for years of use. It will not eliminate all problems from bluppers or slips or misjudgment, but will speed things along well and it’s made in the USA!

Larger than what I expected.
I was looking for something to set 16 ga. nails from a finish nail gun. This is not a good choice for my particular application. However, it is built very tough and it’s design limits the depth of set, so damage from over driving is not an issue.

Use as Directed
This tool is designed and marketed for driving trim nails. Stick to that purpose. Some folks have recommended it for driving brads into woodwork. My experience was that it simply does not have the precision for the 1 1/4 "- 1 3/4 " brads used for fine molding. Instead of a concave head, the driver pin has a round head that lets the brad shift to a side of the shaft and bend. If you're not skilled at using a hammer on small brads, you're better off renting a power brad driver at your local tool rental shop. It may cost more but in the end you'll experience a lot less frustration and get a better finish quicker.
