Good Basic Digital Alarm Clock
I ordered this one from "Seneca River Trading" Amazon seller. The clock does work as expected and displays the time in a clear and easy-to-read manner. The red-light digits do appear to be bright even on dim setting, but this shouldn't be a problem for me as I am keeping the clock on the opposite side of me such that it will not shine towards my face when I'm trying to sleep. It is a pretty simplistic basic alarm clock with only one alarm and needs to manually have the alarm on or off via the switch. There are two red indicator dot-lights, one for indicating the PM time, and one for indicating alarm is on or off (red light dot lit-up will indicate alarm is active). The volume of the alarm seems it would be sufficient to wake a deep sleeper even on the lower setting, but I will probably keep the volume on the high setting just in case, because I don't easily wake up in early mornings (not a morning person). The alarm starts off as a simple periodic single beep, then progresses to a double-beep pattern after a few seconds, then transitions to a 3-beep pattern for a few moments, then finally reaching a constant beeping state. I find this is good to have as it will not be as jolting as an alarm that starts as a constant beeping. Unfortunately, the alarm is not continuous. It stops beeping by itself after just a few minutes, so if it did not successfully wake me within the few minutes it beeps for, then I would miss the time that I was supposed to be awakened. Luckily, it is just my backup alarm and not the main alarm which I have via my phone. The only other issue is that it seems "Seneca River Trading" seems to offer a slightly different model than was listed, possibly an earlier model, with only a 5 minute snooze feature rather than the 8 minute snooze feature I expected. The clock product I received is with the product ID# 13030A1, rather than just ID# 13030, and this seems to be the differentiating factor between the 5 minute and 8 minute snooze (I had thought I'd be getting the one with 8 min. snooze). Five minute snooze is kind of a double-edged sword, on one hand it's a bit too short for snooze, but on the other it will probably do a better job of getting a non-morning person like myself to get up in the morning. The clock does set itself fairly accurate (a few minutes off) right at plug in, and it was easy to adjust to the proper minute. There were a few minor cosmetic scratches on the surface in some areas (minor issue) although the clock was shipped new-in-box. I do not think this was the seller's fault, as the product was well-packed for shipment. It may just be some slight cosmetic defect from manufacturer and does not really affect the clock's ability to function. The clock is relatively small and lightweight so might even be portable enough to take in travels within the North and South American continents (It is not designed for time zones in Europe/Asia/Russia) Overall seems to be a good basic digital alarm clock that is easy to use; a few minor issues, but nothing that would affect the functionality, and it's good for the low price.

Lovely clock
Easy to set up. Easy to use. Huge display. Battery back up works nicely.

the right time all the time
i got this clock after years of having 2 other complicated clocks with special features that were hard to reset after electricity outages. i hated those clocks and the special features like docking station, cd player, etc really weren't worth what i was going through for a bedside clock. sometimes i would let them flash for days and turn on my TV and use the roku clock screensaver to know when to get up for work. yes, Steve, i could have used my phone. i never thought of it. i was looking for something low maintenance. I was very excited to find a clock that would actually set and maintain itself. I don't use an alarm, so I can't say anything about that function, but the bright numbers are just there beaming the accurate time all the time no matter what. That is really all I wanted and I am thrilled. it is the ultimate clock. If I want anything else on my night stand, i will get a separate appliance.

some good concepts. not so much on execution
one of the good points is that the alarm can be set easily, but it is a bit more difficult to set the time. no more having to set the alarm by holding down the one button while changing the time. if your finger slips, you change the time. with this clock that will not happen. on the bad side -- the alarm is way to soft, even in loud mode. it only goes for one minute (trust me. i can sleep through that). it has also developed a soft hum. very soft, but some nights it will keep me up (and i have a hearing problem bad enough that i wear hearing aids during the day). further thought - it would be nice if they had it in white or silver. the button names are hard to read against a black background.

Easy to use & see.
Does what it is supposed to do. Easy to setup, easy to see. Alarm is loud enough. Is accurate. Automatically resets to daylight saving & standard daylight time. Snooze alarm feature is easy to use. Have 2 of these clocks.

Adjustable? Hardly.
Alarm loudness: It's adjustable but there's little difference between the low and high settings. The one thing I liked is that it the alarm varies over the 30 seconds it operates. Brightness: Adjustable with little difference. Even on the lowest setting I need to cover it. The controls seem to be only for show and serve little function. The only reason I kept this was because of the alarm loudness and the fact I can hear the tones with my bad ear. Update...Accurite is a misnomer. It fails to keep time.

Don't Expect Perfection - But Not a Bad Choice
We own two of these, and it's clear that quality control is not a high priority with AcuRite. We've owned the first for a couple of years not and it's worked fine. The second was dead on arrival from Amazon, so we returned it for a replacement which is serving us well. The features, especially the automatic adjustments for Daylight Saving/Standard time, are just what we need. The red numbers are easy to see, but a bit too bright at night for my taste. The clock has a dimmer but that's never worked on the first of these we ordered. The second dims down slightly. Timekeeping is adequate, though we notice one of the two loses time and needs re-setting every 2-3 weeks. Bottom line: don't expect perfection but this still isn't a bad choice.

Best little alarm clock
I own 2 of these, one for the main bedroom and one for the guest bedroom. Best little alarm clock, I've ever used. Display can be dimmed. Alarm gets progressively louder and more "insistent" if Snooze isn't pressed. KEY POINTS: It is compact and the time automatically sets itself after a power outage. SUPER KEY POINT: Simple, single button snooze button on top that is not mixed in with other controls. This is very important to me because of how easy it is on most alarm clocks to press some other button when trying to "hit" the Snooze. I am amazed at how many electric alarm clock makers can't seem to get this simple little thing correct in their "ergonomic" designs.

I bought two of these clocks in November for Xmas Gifts. The first works perfectly. The second is defective. You can,t set the alarm. I am trying to return for replacement but can not figure out how. I bought in November as Xmas gifts but have been out of country till now. Tried them today and discovered the defect in the one. Help would be appreciated.

too bright!
I bought this because of the brightness adjuster setting. We wanted an alarm clock that wasn't so bright. A little disappointed because upon trying it, we see there are only 2 brightness settings and the "dim" setting is still way too bright! We ended up taping black plastic over the display to tone it down.

I do not recommend this clock
Bought this clock as a christmas gift for my mother. A half hour after plugging the clock in the display disappeared and it stopped working. I am returning the clock. I do not recommend this clock.

Disappointed.
I paid $26 for this clock because it had "adjustable brightness". Turns out there are only two setting - way too bright, and way way too bright. Disappointed.
