Good lord, what a light
This light would have come in handy during the Blitz of London in 1940. I am sure it would have spotted high-altitude bombers and likely would have ignited lower-flying aircraft. It is an insanely bright, handheld flashlight. Understand that I once used a three-cell Maglite that was about 60 or 70 lumens and thought that I held the power of the sun. This light, which comes in a size similar to the 250-lumen lights of 15 years ago, runs a ridiculous 1,000 lumens. Every time I turn it on, I expect it to have a recoil similar to a large caliber handgun and to make small woodland creatures caught in the beam to burst into flames. I am even impressed by the useable battery life. If you have a need for a handheld light in the 1,000-lumen range, this is your tool.

Perfect for home inspectors.
Exactly what I needed as a home inspector. A light that holds up and a battery the charges on the road.

Prefect duty carry flashlight
Perfect size for duty carry, easy to charge only change in would make is put the charging port on the flashlight instead of the battery.

Best Self-Defense Hand Held Light
If you are going to carry ONE light on you for self defense this is the one. Super bright setting for reaching way out in darkness exposing any threat. STROBE setting that blinds the bad guy, and low for basic use. End cap can be used to strike the bad guy as well. Can also mount on long guns.

Great flashlight
I read through all of the negative reviews and I can’t say I’ve experienced any of their complaints. The Hl-x is a great light, very powerful, well made, very functional. I don’t use rechargeable batteries, they just don’t put out the power like a li-ion disposable, they bleed down over time and they’re a pain to deal with. Just get yourself some quality cr123a batteries and call it good. I’ve had my HL-X for about 4 months and have burned through 4 sets of batteries with what I consider adequate run time per battery set. Don’t complain if you’re running it on high and the batteries only last 2hrs, that’s the expected run time. The construction is great, it’s a solid build and solid performer.

Great flashlight. Even greater company.
Absolutely would buy again. I currently have this on my AK on a flashlight mount. That being said I've kept it on factory settings. And it's held up and stayed on the mount when it had a mis hap and went down a flight of stairs.

(Compleatly Updated) Long Term Usage Review
I have had this light for about 2 years , and have found it to be an excellent light for the price. It works wonderfully off of primary cells (CR123), but is somewhat touchy when it comes to 18650s you have to make sure you get the right ones. I can also verify that the button top cells from orbtronic work well. I'm sure there are several other brands that will work fine, but I tried at least one brand that would not contact the terminal on the inside of the flashlight because the tip of the battery would not reach down far enough. Just stay with a brand that tightly follows spec. All that aside, the things I do like about this light a lot are: 1: The belt clip is great for deep pocket carry though I wish that the small part of the clip were about an inch longer to get a better grip on your pocket when the flashlight is being carried tip down, and the pocket is not quite deep enough. That is not a problem if you're OK carrying the flashlight tip up. 2: Two years later, I still feel the output of the flashlight is spectacular for a light of this size, having a slightly larger head then many lights in this class it has a much better more focused throw then some other lights with the same lumen output. I'm sure other lights are out there that are brighter, but this is right at that place where it's "bright enough" and if you make it brighter it eats batteries and just kills people's eyes. 3. Burn time has proven to be so much better than I initially expected from a light this bright and powerful. I've used it with the afformentioned orbtronic 3400mah 18650's and gotten through entire evenings of standing in the rain doing service work on only a couple of batteries for 4-5 hours of mostly continuous with some intermittent run time. I generally carry (4) 18650's when I go out on a night call and I've never used more than 2 and just starting into the 3rd when we wrapped up the call (which was 5 hours) Buy a good multi bank charger, because these larger cells charge slowly if you drain them all the way. It's better for them if you stop half way ( soon as it starts to dim) and swap to another battery than to burn that one to the ground. So buy around 8 cells and rotate them through the charger. Get yourself a StoreACell for 18650's for the other 4 to keep on you in a bag. 4: This flashlight also has the right modes, especially for a tactical light or a work light. I prefer run mine on the mode which gives you high first/then strobe/then low, but as a work light it can also be set on High Only. The great thing about it is, you don't have to cycle all the way through in order to get back around. If you turn it on high, and turn it back off that's all you'll ever see you don't have to click through all the modes. If you turn it on high and double bump it you'll get strobe, but if you turn it off you'll never see the logo mode, because when you turn it back on again it starts over at high. That's what I want in a tactical light, I wouldn't even care if this light didn't even have a low on it. It does have two other modes, if you prefer A different selection or order of the settings. 5: Durability: having now owned this for almost 2 years and carried it literally every day in pocket...this is a tough light. Mine has dings, scratches, road rash, most of the anodizing is wearing off (which means I'm rubbing the outer layer of aluminum off the barrel in my pocket)... but the light is as bright as when I bought it, the switch still works perfectly (which is where all my other lights normally fail) and I could not be happier with the small exception of just wishing for a slightly modified pocket clip design. Compared to other brands I've owned that were this durable and pleasant to use with features anywhere close... I could buy two possibly three lights like these for the price of the brand I was using before, and those did not use recharging batteries, only CR123...so cost was killing me. Best compliment I can give to any tool... If I lost it today, tomorrow I'd go buy another one...

Decent, but...
Streamlight are not cheap (both quality and price) and a top, well-known brand. Comparing it to other flashlights I have (about 50 or more) it is very solidly built. But it lacks simplicity of operation. It does not have the flexibility of many other flashlights I have. You need to do 9+ clicks to enter a customization menu. Afterwards, you still have limitations. Many of my flashlights have a simple on/off button. Once on, you can go through 3-5 different intensities, depending on what the flashlight model. Usually quite easy to get strobe or moonlight functions. All of this without going into...not difficult, but a nuisance 9+ click menu. Then the charging port is on the battery, which I suppose helps in water & dust resistance. But charging, again, is a nuisance because you need to unscrew the flashlight head off every time to charge it. Then, somewhere down the road, if you need to replace the battery, it is proprietary and extremely expansive compared to batteries for other brands. It is a beautifully crafted flashlight, which sits well in your hand. If the 2 major issues (for me) I listed do not bother you, it is a great flashlight. Also keep in mind that for the same price you have a multitude of options. I don't mean cheap knock off brands but top-quality alternatives in the same or much lower price than this flashlight

Starke LED, schwache Akkus

Super bright
Great flashlight. Super bright. Not sure how long the charge lasts as I have yet to recharge it. It seems to have good build quality. You will notice it when clipped to a belt. I can't give it a 5-star on durability or battery life as it has yet to be put to the test. Best guesses on those ratings.
