For my Brothers Bday
My brother had been given one of these devices by a police friend, but that light somehow walked off a jobsite. Anyway, I was fortunate enough to be able to give him another one for a recent birthday. He was surprised and elated. Apparently from what he tells me this is one of the best devices you can get. I think I'll order one for myself.

Works Perfect For Work
After spending lots of $ on flashlights through the years, I finally purchased the Surefire tactician. I have plenty of work flashilights from Olight, Reylight, Streamlight, Lumintop, Fenix, Maratac brand etc. Always looking for that perfect beam and color. I found that about 5k was the sweet spot for me in my business of home inspections as for me doesn't have the washout effect with super high K colors. Also found that for me, 800 lumes is plenty! Almost as bright at other 1000 lume flashlights.. Gets the job done. Beam pattern is great for my work. Good flood and color, lights up small and large spaces. Has a bluish tint around spill edge. Don't get me wrong I have these other flashlights for backups. The Olight WM2 I thought would be the ticket until I got in a crawlspace and the magnetic tail cap picked up a bunch of iron from the soil making the tail button even more fickle. I purchased the Surefire Z68 tail cap for it that works perfect so I don't have to keep twisting for constant on. I now have the best of both worlds. Very pleased with this light and highly recommend it if your thinking of it. I also run this light on the 16650 rechargeable's. Works like a champ.. Would recommend this product/light to any flashaholic or professional looking for a serious EDC.. Hope this helps. M

Overpriced a bit. But awesome nonetheless.
I purchased the Streamlight 88062 ProTac 2L-X 500 lm Professional Tactical Flashlight, Black - 500 Lumens and the SureFire Tactician High-Output LED Flashlight with Maxvision, Black. Both are very nice. But with the Surefire it just feels solid. Now having said that, I'll elaborate. With cheap flashlights, like those plastic ones from the 80's, you get that kind of spring bounce feel inside. We all jiggled it around because it made a weird vibration. The Streamlight has that at times. The tactician doesn't. The brightness of the tactician is better, more defined. The tactician body is more sleek. The rubber foot feels more secure on the tactician, and doesn't have that push click thing like the streamlight. it's like you weren't even sure you pushed it, until the light blasts forth. A panzer tank for $100+. Now the streamlight feel good in hand. It has a blinding light, not as hardcore as the tactician. It comes with a pouch, tactician does not, just a string loop. Both have pocket clamps. For 40$ the streamlight is a no brainer, but if you can afford more, go with the tactician or both, like i did. I like the tactician for a gun light. I want a for sure light on that. The streamlight would be more my go outside and inspect light or get under the hood light in a pinch. Maybe swing it into a joint on a person. It is that tough and would definitely feel confident in it for something like that. I actually have many other flashlights like a maglite for that more like car stuff or getting into a dirty place. Easier to clean off. Not so worried if something bad happens. Now I will say this about streamlight. I have their Streamlight 69430 TLR-8G on a PDW and it is amazing. Its bombproof. I like that more than the tactician. Good luck. Hope this helped.

Great Everyday Carry Light
One of my favorites for everyday carry. There are brighter, cheaper, and smaller lights that I both own and like very much, but this light has been a useful almost daily companion for over 4 years. I've removed the clip and replaced the "tactical" tail cap switch with a complimentary one from Surefire, as I carry it in my work uniform pants pocket. A little on the pricy side, but worth what I paid for it to me. Also, in the 30+ years of ownership of Surefire lights, I can do nothing but rave about their Customer Service Department. Hope you find this helpful. Thanks for reading.

An okay light, but user interface leaves a lot of be desired
I love Surefire products. I use the X300 on a pistol and have several G2Xs lying around for everyday use. That said, I also really like the Streamlight Protac because it has a narrower diameter than the Surefire 6P and G2 series. As it is based upon the E series "Executive" line, the Tactician is more compact than the 6P and G2 and is sized similarly to a Streamlight Protac. As I work in law enforcement, I have had lights fail on me. After a couple drops on the pavement during the night shift, I had a Pelican 7060 (LAPD light) that started to flicker. So, I want high quality. That being said, this offering from Surefire falls a bit short for me. The light is super rugged and the beam flawless, after all, it is a Surefire. However, the user interface just doesn't make sense to me. First off, if the Surefire EDCLT2 is offered with a 2-way pocket clip that allows both bezel-up and down carry, why is the Tactician limited to bezel-up? Secondly, the Surefire EDCLT2 has a soft-click and a hard-click to cycle through modes (low vs. high output), why does the Tactician require me to turn the bezel? These are annoyances. If you prefer bezel-up carry and want a single output tactical light, then maybe these issues don't concern you. Pros: -It is a Surefire, it will probably never fail on you. It is a work of functional art. -Bright, brilliant beam, MaxVision is wide angle so it lights up a whole room -Lightweight -The lanyard is removable (simply rotate the rear portion of the bezel to remove the lanyard ring) Cons: -Have to rotate bezel to go to low output mode -Pocket clip limits user to bezel-up carry only (yes, you can swap an EDCLT2 clip for it) -Does not have a "clicky" tail cap, you must rotate tail cap in order to go to constant on -MaxVision beam sacrifices throw, but this is a trade-off for better close-up illumination (see Pros) Given the downsides of this light, I would honestly recommend you go with the Surefire EDCLT2 or Streamlight Protac HL-X. The EDCLT2 is much brighter, has a better user interface, and has a 2-way pocket clip. The Streamlight is less expensive and has better UI along with the 2-way clip. The only downside to these is that they are bigger than the Tactician. If size is a concern, maybe go with the Tactician and tolerate the quirks.

A wall of light
Amazing light if you need a wide beam. This is the modern L4 from many years ago except it's much brighter. I use it for camping it'll light up the whole camp site, seems expensive but I've learned that Surefire's last a long long time. I still have 15 year old ones that work like new. Cannot say that about the others. You get what you pay for.

Bright but dim
High mode very bright, but low 5 lumen mode seems less bright than 5 lumen from my Surefire E1L or my E2L. Always found the low mode 15 lumen on my Surefire LX2 Lumamax as a better setting for low. Deliver from US was really good to UK Still a better price than older models, and will fit in with my collection.
