Works great until you using the telescoping arms feature.
Blade is sharp and the tool is lightweight. Unfortunately one of the arms ended up bending on me the first time I pulled out the telescoping arms on it and attempted to use it in the fashion it was designed to be used. Also, the ratcheting feature is nice but requires all 4 slot positions be used in sequence every single time that I can see. That means even for small pieces of brush, you have to expand and contract four times every single time. Turns into a workout. My previous tool would collapse down to the appropriate ratcheting position, so for smaller jobs, you may only have to ratchet once or twice.

last a long takes a lot of abuse
these loppers are great this is the 5th one I have bought over a 12 year span and they are the best. Strong and dependable.

Telescoping handle has been improved.
I broke my 15 y/o ones by telescoping the handles. Then I put one handle to my chest and pulled the other handle with both arms. Do NOT do that and it may last a lifetime.

Ratchet part is difficult which is why I purchased
The quality is good and does cut well but the ratcheting makes you go all the way out every cut, making it four times harder/exhausting to use them. If that feature could be modified to close closer to the size of the twig or branch than this would be a better tool.

Very Glad I purchase this
I knew I would be cutting down a couple of trees and also needed to cut down some large bushes. I have used traditional trimmers but with the branch sizes I would need to trim this time it would be very difficult for traditional cutters, so I did a search for a rachet type of cutters. This tool is very sharp and it had no issues cutting through 2-3 inch branches. I would purchase again in a heartbeat!

Not for short arms
You have to open it quite wide and ratchet it a few times so makes it hard for short arms, and tight spaces, and time consuming, so I sent it back.

Great Loppers!
These arrived today (a day early, yay) and while they are bigger and heavier than anticipated, they made quick work of taking down two privet trees (aka giant weeds) that needed to go. Took me 10 minutes to cut them and a bit longer to get everything into the compost bin. I watched a quick video as the directions are in four languages that aren’t English. Better on bigger/thicker branches vs. skinny ones but works on both. Be mindful, these are VERY sharp and strong. I locked them closed as needed.

Good quality ratchet loppers - a review after 2 years use (with video demo of ratchet system)
The media could not be loaded. In short, I like them - after 2 years use, they are still in good condition and good working order, and work as well as they did on day one. I would agree with others...there is a lot more opening and closing than with normal loppers due to the ratchet system (see video if you are not sure what this refers to), and this is irritating if you are only chopping something which is half the width of the jaws. My wife tells me how stupid this is most times she uses them too! However, they perform well...and of course the whole point of the ratchet thing is that you don’t have to use much force to cut through thick branches and brambles etc. If you do have to put loads of effort in, then you are probably pushing it and should be getting a saw out. They are best used in combination with some hand snippers, to save time on the smaller stuff. They are a bit unwieldy when extended, and opening and closing, when up a ladder, in a tight space is not much fun as you have to open them a fair bit wider when extended. Check the pic to see how they have fared over this time. Pretty well really, the only issue is the plastic casing on one handle has loosened and moves around when extending them. All in all, a good quality tool at a decent price and would recommend for vegetation too big for hand snippers, but not thick enough to need a saw, like thick established brambles, and small branches from trees. etc. One star removed for the wasted effort required, and the very minor casing issue.

Very sturdy.
I am just about to turn 60 this year and needed something more powerful than the usual loppers. If a man was using them instead of me, he would of done the job in half the time. Strength and age let me down a bit. Having many conifers from my neighbours side that needed cutting back, as they were over hanging a lot, I boughted these. Arrived the next day and used them as soon as I got them. Amazing! They are brilliant and wish I knew about these before! They cut through the thicker branches with ease. The thicker branches they couldn't get through, I used a saw to cut into the branch and then put these loppers into the cut the saw made and cut the really thick branches off with the loppers. Very happy!

Good and irritating
These are really good at cutting the thick branches. So far so good. But I take them out expecting to trim everything and they just become extremely irritating. This is because they always snap open to their maximum gape. This means that to cut thin branches you have to perform several futile clicks to get the jaws back to a small size before the actual cut. Next branch? - Snap - wide open again! If your trees grow different thickness branches buy something that was thought through better than this.

So far, so good!
I have an old True Temper version of this pruner which I used and abused for years. Unfortunately I eventually tried to cut a stem that was too hard and wide and I snapped an internal cog. What an idiot I am! But I got away with moves like this for so long :-( Anyway, I couldn't find that old model any more and discovered this one on Amazon. It seems to be the same in kost ways but the telescopic mechanism is different. You only twist the very end pieces if the handles to extend the arms. This is actually a very good improvement! Previously having to twist the whole plastic handle led to unintended extensions when I was scrambling up a tree or tall hedge lol. In terms of cutting ability, you need a bit more width in your cutting motion than you would with a traditional pruner in order to "pump" the ratchet. As long as you have this it is a very effective tool that I use year in and out. If there is one downside, the plastic sleeves on all these metal tools eventually cause problems as they degrade and the plastic handles on this tool feel a little less robust than my last one. I hope thus dies not become an issue later

Highly specialized - brilliant at very thick stems, too awkward with thinner ones
This lopper has a non-optional ratchet mechanism so it requires multiple pulls to close, then release to fully open again, then repeat the cycle. Far too fiddly for thinner branches but enables you to cut thick ones in several pulls, that would almost certainly defeat most people otherwise. So for anything up to an inch - maybe even more - of hard wood stem, this is what you need. I was able to cut all the rising stems of ivy growing up my house, after which the foliage all died and was much easier to remove. The degree of extensability of the handles was very useful too for this job. Built like a tank and quite heavy to hold, and hard on the arms & back ... but you won't need to use it often. When you do need it, it's gold dust. Get a decent ordinary lopper for the half inch or thinner stems and more frequent use.
