I've had it over a year and still love it
When I decided it was time to order a new desk chair, I spent weeks searching for just the right thing. I wanted a desk chair that would last a long time, something comfortable, adjustable, and, by golly, I didn't want BLACK. After weeks of searching and reading reviews, I found myself coming back again and again to this SPACE seating chair. I just loved the pop of color and most of the reviews seemed favorable. I have not been disappointed. I have found this chair to be a stylish, comfortable chair that holds up to use. Some of the concerns in the reviews are concerns I shared as I started using the chair. The seat does feel a bit like it tilts forward, and the fabric is slick. If I'm wearing pants that are also slick, the combination of a little tilt and a slick fabric seat on a wheeled-chair on a hard floor adds up to a perfect opportunity for a gigantic oops! More than once I've tried to sit down while wearing slick pants, only to feel the seat of the chair slip out from under me as the chair rolled away. I soon learned to hold on to the chair while sitting down, at least when the chair was on the hard floor and I was wearing the slick pants. The seat of the chair is very large, both wide and long. Several people have commented that the back of the chair is too far from the front of the chair, so they can't sit all the way back in the chair and have their knees bent at 90 degrees. I rarely sit with such perfect posture, so I don't find this to be a problem. Some people have commented that the arms of the chair have some "give" to them and feel like they might be hollow and might break easily. This is one reason I waited over a year to write my review - I wanted to see how the arms would hold up. Little did I know when I ordered the chair that I'd soon be undergoing ankle surgery. Many-a-time, now, I've leaned heavily on the arms of the chair while standing up, and the arms have not given way, have not cracked, have not bent. They've held up perfectly well as I struggled with one foot in a cast. I assembled the chair myself in about half an hour. It was easy to do and all the parts were in the package. I'm very fortunate to work for a company that was able to adjust to Covid-19 by allowing the staff to work remotely, so my chair has seen constant use for the last five months. It has held up beautifully. The seat cushion is still soft, the fabric is still clean and continues to deliver that vibrant pop of color I love. Everything about the chair has held up well, and I'm so glad I bought it.

comfortable but early in use
Sat in this chair last night after a neighbor assembled it for me. (Assembly note: when it was assembled, the arms were attached incorrectly (right on left; left on right), it is an EASY to make error and easy to fix.) Anyway..., I immediately thought, "Oh, this chair is PERFECT." Now, today, actually using it to work, I still find it very comfortable. I would have liked some additional or different features. Before ordering, I'd sat in some chairs in local stores, I thought I knew what I wanted ;-) So, these are things I didn't know I needed & wanted AND/OR I didn't read the Amazon descriptions and other reviews with sharp enough eyes and a fully-engaged brain! The arms are adjustable, both in height and width from seat. A good thing :) But..., I would like the arm rests to pivot with my arms, so that when I move hands from keyboard to mouse the arm rest "comes along" with my hand & lower arm. The "padded" arm rests are molded into a fixed very firmly-padded shape, so "padded" is a relative term. In fact, it just occurred to me that, if the arms were simply padded and not molded, I might not have noticed the uncomfortable nuisance factor when moving from keyboard use to mouse use. The seat depth is not adjustable, nor is the back depth adjustable. That is kind of a big deal. I need the back to hug up to me (who doesn't need more hugs?!) and help me get into and stay in a more ergonomic, supported posture. My work-around is to lift up and move my butt further back into the chair when I become aware that my back isn't being supported. I have no problems with the fabric on the Charcoal model, but it is definitely striped. I notice someone else mentioned that about the blue mist model, so just be aware of that. When I am sitting in it, I couldn't care less if it's striped. Can't see 'em unless I'm NOT in the chair ;-) In spite of these thoughts, I still think the seat, seat padding, and back itself are exactly right.

Chair's Seat Cannot Be Tilted
The "Office Star VERA Deluxe Chair” comes in about twelve parts, along with about 15 high-quality hex-head screws and a nice Allen wrench (the only tool you need). The build quality is very good, the instructions are adequate, and the assembly is not very difficult. The assembled chair is sturdy and functions well. I've only given the chair a three-star rating because the chair seat cannot be tilted and because the distance from the base of the chair's back to the front edge of the chair's seat is about 2 or 3 inches too great (it's about 18.5 inches). If your legs are relatively short (mine are of about average length) you will not be able to press your lower back into the chair back without compromising your ability to bend you knees at a right angle. The chair is not well-suited as a "computer desk" chair, where one normally wants to have a straight back or wants to lean a little forward. Also, the chair is not suited for anyone with a lower-back problem... for two reasons: 1) the seat cannot be tilted just a little forward, and 2) you must scoot forward to sit straight or to lean forward, and your back will have no support. The paperwork touts a "2-to-1 tilt control". This control essentially affects only the stiffness of the chair's back, which will tilt backward when you lean back against it. The "2-to-1 tilt control" is a large knob that is difficult to turn if you want the chair's back to be stiff. The chair is larger than I expected, and the diameter of the chair's footprint is consequently greater than that of the smaller desk chair I already have (its seat can be tilted). The fixed-level chair seat makes the chair more useful as a reading chair than a working desk chair. I would not recommend it to anyone who is going to do serious work at a desk (particularly using a computer).
