Bang bang
Seems very good quality and amazing the dirt it collected in the first couple of days and I’m on town water. The toilets and tubs aren’t brown anymore and the water actually tastes better when brushing our teeth. Like other people said it does cause a little water hammering and if you install a bypass valve you probably will have to install expansion tank on your hot water tank if you don’t already have one. The bypass valve creates a closed loop system and won’t let your hot water to expand when heating and will cause the tank’s pressure relief valve to drip a little . The town actually flushed the water mains 5 days after I installed the system and collected all the dirt that usually ends up in the house

What a remarkable difference.....
I had previously installed a much smaller water filtration system billed as whole house...was not quite up to it's billing. If you have limited space this is it. What a remarkable difference in the water, the water pressure the taste and smell of the water. I live in Palms Springs, California and the water here is the worst. Very high in calcium deposits on everything...and I mean everything. From cars to clothes to house plants, it's a constant battle to get rid of water staining here. Solution, put in a whole house water filtration system that will eliminate the problem. In addition to the water. Additionally in line I added a smaller prefilter, that makes a big difference on performance. Was an easy install and it's a quality product. Life any purchase like this, shop for what fits your needs as it relates to water treatment for in house use. Because of the limited space I chose this unit and the flip side is, if you every want to expand this system, just buy another unit and add it in-line with the existing unit. Label the outside of each unit with the "type" of filter cartridge so you know what filter is where, and you are off to the races. The most important thing here is knowing what your "major" water problem are, mine was calcium and water stains along with odd odors at times. This has eliminated that problem. The water flows better, cleaner and safer. I would never drink just the tap water here in Palm Springs unless it was filtered.....thanks to folks at GE they have solved my problem. As noted in the photos I have a tankless water heater, no more tank type....this whole system does a remarkable job and could not be more pleased. Best.

In one month so far
We installed the GXWH40L on June 3rd 2022 and today is July 11th 2022 the picture with the white filter inside is right after new install and the picture with the yellowish/tan is after running about 5,500 gallons of Tucson City Water through. After the GE pre-filter we have a TAC water conditioner. The water pictured hasn’t gone through that TAC yet. Without these our water does not taste too bad out of the tap but it does have a lot of tds and I would not drink it like that without filtration. I live in the Catalina Foothills near the mountains and we have chlorination in our city water and our hardness runs about 14 - 16 grains per gallon, high dissolved mineral content of the nontoxic macronutrients calcium and magnesium (260 mg/L as CaCO3). I am not sure why it looks this color, I would like to have the filter tested, I am going to talk to the water department. Once the water gets inside the house we also have double filtration on our refrigerator, RO on our kitchen sink. Now that I see this, I kind of want to put simple filters under each bathroom sink as a just in case. I thought our City water was not bad but I don’t understand why the filter looks like this so soon. Normally when ice cubes melt down we can see the white calcium carbonate but nothing like this? The install was easy and quick, my husband is not a plumber did it very easily after watching a few youtube videos.

Seems good but gasket was kinked and GE would not replace it
The O ring gasket was kinked and GE would not replace it even though they said to call for help or replacement/missing parts in the instructions. The woman said the new company does not honor what is written in the instructions. This unit replaced the same size previous filter system. My brother is an engineer and installed it for me without any problems except for the kinked O ring. I had to order new ones which I will need at some point anyway but that was aggravating. Comes with nice bracket to attach to wall and a bypass valve for easier filter replacement. Hopefully will be easy to replace new filter and o ring.

Now you can see when to wash/replace the filter.
Before I had same size filter but with opaque housing. I had to periodically remove to check if it needs replacement. Now I can just walk by and glance at it. When looks like it gets time to replace, I can buy the filter and be ready whenever it needs replacement. This is a great product. I’m on an artisan well. The system I built starting from ground: pre filter (stainless steel filter), aerator, pump, pressure tank, GE filter, water softener, UV tube, second GE filter. Probably an overkill, but when the Rai..ft rep came to sell me their Highway robbery water system he couldn’t because every test he ran my system provided just as good water as his demo unit, if not better. He then ran the test taking water tapping half way through my chain and still couldn’t beat it. My system cost a fraction of his with no fancy parts.

Information On Box Misleading But Otherwise An Excellent Filter
Outside of the box states the unit accepts 3/4 or 1 inch fittings but it does not. Accepts only 1 inch size fittings otherwise, you need an adapter to convert 1 inch to 3/4 inch. Wound up driving 2 hours back to the store to get the proper fittings needed. Otherwise, it is a very sturdy filter we use on our well system. Also, note that the filter is not included - like buying a car without including the tires. C'mon GE for the price you should include the filter.

La performance et la disponibilité du produit.
Un service à la clientèle plus qu'apprécié.

works well but needs a lot to hook it up
The unit works well but by the time you buy the filter which is not included and the plumbing parts that are also not included add almost another 100.00 to the cost

We are on city water in Cambridge, ON and ...
We are on city water in Cambridge, ON and I cannot believe how much discolouration happened in the first week so far of use. It went from white to a deep copper colour in that short period of time. Definitely improved the taste of the water so it is doing its job.
