Nice Glossy finish

I bought this sealer to be used on painted rocks I planned to place outside. It had been recommended by several people and they were right when in how smooth and glossy it looks. I haven’t put them outside yet but I believe they should stand up to the elements well.

Protect Yhour Garden Angel with Some Clear Varnish with UV Protection.

The angel I varnished is made of polystone resin, which is basically a kind of plastic that looks like plaster when painted. She had a matte finish. I was trying to protect it from the rain and sun with some outdoor varnish. This varnish says it is satin finish, but I noticed it actually is more glossy after the second coat. However, I am fine with how she turned out. Also, the varnish is odorless and is polyurethane. It should last a good long time. I suggest a spray satin varnish if you are absolutely intent on that look. I avoid aerosols due to fumes, so this works for me. I like the time it takes to paint the details. Paint on varnish also takes longer to dry. I allowed 24 hours inbetween coats. My angel is ready to go bless the garden!

more glossy than satin

a bit disappointed. I wanted to paint over a gloss painting with this satin but the sheen stayed the same.

Outdoor acrylic sealer

Not suppose to shake this container however ant really mix the thick stuff on the bottom of 3 inches. Terrible settling of product. It must be old. Or bad mix. Doesn't seem to work well with products on vinyl.

High gloss, not self-leveling

I purchased this to give a hard, waterproof finish to alcohol ink metal washer pendant necklaces. I normally use a spray but the weather won't cooperate so I thought I'd try this. I've been using Folk Art finishes for 30+ years but had never used this one before. For my use, it was acceptable in level of gloss and hardness. I'm not pleased with the fact that it is not self leveling so I removed a star for that. I certainly would not want to brush a finish coat of this on a large smooth surface because it certainly would leave marks. That said, multiple coats do even it out somewhat. It does take some time to dry on initial coats. Successive coats take less time. It also might be important for you to know it does wash out of the brush very well. If using with alcohol ink, a good spray coat of Kamar is needed or the sealer will cause the ink to run. Ultimately I made this product work for my project but I wouldn't purchase again for this use. I have almost all of it left so I'm sure there will be more occasions to try it on other items. If I find a project it excels at I will update the review.

It Bleeds!!!

Using this product is a pain. When painting on this varnish, the paint bleeds. I get red on the white paint, or green, or black. Doesn’t matter what color the item is the color bleeds. Use this product carefully. I put a lot on the painted item and carefully spread it on the painted surface. Putting on a thick coating can help in preventing it from bleeding so bad.

Works well!

I have a number of hand painted miniatures that were accidentally painted with a gloss sealer. I bought this matte sealer to try to fix them, and it has worked perfectly! Picture is a comparison of a miniatures with and without the matte sealer. The bottle looks different than the product shot, but is the same product.

More glossy than satin

Difficult to mix in the container it comes in. Glossier than the satin described on the website. Applied easily. Easy brush cleanup with water only. Purchased to provide waterproofing for outdoor use. Time will tell how effective this product is with that.

so good. It's only been three weeks but there have ...

I used this with some glow in the dark powder to seal an old garden gnome that I repainted. So far, so good. It's only been three weeks but there have been daily rain and hail storms, yet I see no chipping or damage to the new paint. I do wish it was a bit smoother once dry, but the texture may be altered by the glow powder. It was easy to apply and dried in a reasonable length of time, with no perceptible odor. Clean up was quick and easy and I still have quite a bit left for other projects. Overall - a good purchase.
