Nicely performing Gesso at a reasonable price, by a professional artist

This is listed as student grade, but I found it to be very capable. Black Gesso can be difficult to find, and I'm glad I came across this. Some people will find this a bit more runny than expected. For me, this is ok and actually allows easier application by brush. In any case, it was a good purchase. I'd buy it again.

Great value for how much you get

I got this to do back ground base coats for my oil canvases. It's a LARGE container which is really nice because I won't need to continually buy black gesso. It goes on thin and dries really quickly and oil paint goes right over it no problem so its perfect for what I'm using it for. I do have to stir it before I use it because the paint separates a bit (as paints do), and after I mix it up I can just go to town on my projects.

No complaints here.

No complaints here. I got exactly what I was expecting. I applied two coats with a paint roller on mid-grade canvas and was done. Reading previous reviews, I want sure if the consistency was going to be heavy enough but I actually needed to thin it. To each their own but it worked well enough for me

Excellent Black Gesso. Excellent price.

I’m very happy with this black gesso. The flow and Viscosity is better than more expensive previous gesso I’ve used in the past. I very happy surprise! And shopping was fast!

It's cheap

Well, it's cheap. Not the best, or the blackest. But it's black. And you get a lot of it. Good for students or kids. But if you want your work to last, well, there's a reason that the premium brands charge a lot more. I would not recommend this for art that you intend to sell; at least not expensive art. But it's great for proofs of concept. You know, trying out an idea to see if it works. Not bad for that.

Works great!

Goes on with a disposable sponge brush very easily. I am an airbrusher so I use it to go over my previous work if I don't like it and it makes a brand new canvas. Dries quickly, too.

Quite the Bargan

I purchased this to paint a floor black for a black light / neon party. Everything else I looked at was very expensive including options at my Home Depot. Rolled and brushed just fine. Dried - a concern I had - in a few hours. Still have some left for other projects.

Handy Art Student Acrylic Gallon, Black Gesso This seller was the only one that I could find that had Acrylic Black Gesso in Gallon size bucket and is 1 of very few that have stock in black. Having the ability to find a great seller is that stocks large sizes to get more for your money in bulk really makes me happy, I hate buying small amounts knowing how much more it costs me. The shipping arrived before the estimated delivery time and there was no damage to the product. The Gesso is a quality known brand and it is my favorite brand, it goes on very smooth and easy and covers better than other brands. I have this seller saved as a favorite seller and will be doing more business in the future. Highly recommended seller and products. Great correspondence with seller too
