Poorly engineered assembly for an otherwise excellent chair

Overall construction quality high, but assembly-design was very marginal. Two persons (4-Hands) REQUIRED for assembly to have help in aligning final components under compression and screw initiation. Was a 2-day, 8-hour struggle to overcome fine-threaded and too short machine screws without centering shoulders (plus upholstery fabric obstructing holes into the screw T-Nut recepticles), which required perfectly straight alignment with components being held rigidly by partner to get screw engagement estbalished in their T-Nuts. The L-shaped allen wrench (provided) was impossible to keep straight alignment while turning during initiation of thread engagement. Had to use my own T-handled wrench and replacement of several screws with self-threading tapered anchor screws that did not require perfect straight alignment to engage. Caster wheels were mediocre and hard surfaced making rolling on hard surface, or plush carpet noisy and stiff. I chose to replace them with set of 2" dual wheel — Omyoffice Heavy-Duty Chair Wheels Support 2200lbs, Mute Polyurethane-Rubber Chair Casters for Hardwood Floors and Carpet — (See separate Review). After 4- unsuccessful hours attempting to get the final components together (with a helper) I filed for return of chair. But after an overnight rest, I used separately purchased different hardware screws, and took another 4-hours to complete assembly rather than spending that time trying to dissasemble and fit all the pieces back into the orignal packaging. Per Instructions, before returning the chair, I contacted the designated 3rd partry service company for potential assistance or replacement parts. They could not identify the chair in their support system and said they had no available parts. An it was obvious the representative was not at all familiar with the chair assembly process. So that operation was of no help, at all. The chair was marked "Made in China", it was sold under the Serta brand, and the service company was obviously Canadian (True Innovations). Amazon quickly authorized Return & Refund, but As described above, I opted to make it work after so many hours trying to get it satisfactorily assembled. [Note: Other reviewers had similar difficulty described with assembly and alignment issues, and I found that after I got it together the chair had an excessive degree of noise due (I suspect) to the fact that the assembly was not fully tightened, which I observed initially until I finally got everything together and fully maximum-torqued after everything assembled. The swapping of the casters made the effort worth the keeping of the chair! (Note: I am a highly experienced mechanic, DIYer, and engineer with many years of experience. So I cannot highly recommend the chair for home assembly and 3rd-Party Customer Support).

Comfortable, but arms didn’t assemble easily

I’ve had this chair for about 3 weeks now. This chair is very comfortable for an 8 hour workday. I’m short and was afraid the support would not be in the right places for my body, but it actually is fine. My only complaint is that the assembly was not as easy as directions stated. Arms were difficult to assemble as holes didn’t quite line up and it took 2 ppl to hold and get the screws in. The tilt feature also doesn’t tilt back quite as easy as I expected even after adjusting the tension, but it’s okay. My goal was really comfort, which this chair meets my goal. I’ll see how it holds up a year from now.

DOES NOT RECLINE!!!

The Ivory Model is actually Cream colored. That’s not a problem for me. However, this chair DOES NOT RECLINE. That is a huge problem considering it is advertised as a reclining chair. The aesthetics are up to par, with a couple minor scratches. The padding is more than adequate… for me. Oddly, the lowest seating position is too tall for a 5’1” individual. I have never encountered an office chair with this problem. The headrest reaches the middle point of my head. Not a problem for me. The biggest frustration is definitely the arm + backrest assembly. It’s almost like they tried to skimp on screws and sent the wrong ones. You literally need 4 arms to assembly this area. You might, like I, be forced to opt to only use 2 screws for the arm/backrest assembly. This was after I had to search my home for some longer screws that would fit. The short ones provided…are too SHORT. Assembly requires super human strength, (jk, a very strong man.)

Difficult Assembly

First, this is a comfy chair. I love it. However the hardware and assembly is very off-putting. The screws are extremely cheap and soft metal. You will ruin a few during the process. I recommend going to the hardware store and picking up some USA made screws. This will improve your experience. Also, you’ll want to have a friend to help. Maybe it’s better to go to an office supply store and buy this thing pre-assembled.

Chair broke after 1 year

My husband sat down in the chair and leaned back as usual and the chair broke and he fell on the floor:/. It was a $250 chair! For reference he’s 5’10” 145lbs, this sux!! Now what?! They don’t make it easy to contact the company either, which is frustrating .

Nice but back seat to small!

Buy this chair for replace my old serta, after one week using i have to return it cause the back seat is to low for me and make me pain. I'm 6 feet tall and the top of the back seat arrive barely to my neck when i seat correctly on it. However the bonded leather is really good quality, the chairs rolls perfectly, the armrest feels good, maybe a little bit to narrow. It's a good and beautifull chair but i personnaly recommend it for the small person like around 5' 6 cause the back seat definitly to small. It miss like 5" to be perfect.

Skip this chair

The package arrived opened, the assembly instructions were not detailed enough, the parts didn't fit easily together, and the screws have a tendency to strip. The finished result isn't even comfortable, and I'm worried the bonded leather will deteriorate and peel like my last Serta chair ... and this will be my last.

default de conception

Ma chaise avait un défaut de conception au niveau du montage du bras droit. L'un des trous pré-percé ne possedait rien pour visser et maintenir la vis. J'ai du improviser mais je ne sais pas combien de temps cela tiendra car le dossier et le bras droit tiennent par cette vis .Tres tres decu mais bon ces une chaise pas cher mais qui ne vaux pas cher

Superior a una "Silla Gamer"

Lo único que le faltaría es que fuera mas fácil ensamblar el respaldo a los laterales, eso me costo mucho trabajo y que se pudiera alzar un poco mas. por lo demás es una silla bastante cómoda si necesitas estar frente al PC todo el día

Quieres comodidad

Con Serta vas a la segura compramos otra silla anteriormente y la verdad era super incomoda y como ya habíamos tenido Serta la compramos y definitivamente si estas horas en home office te va encantar y el acabado de la silla es muy bueno se ve genial no te vas a arrepentir
