Two thumbs up from my artist son.
My son asked me very politely to stop buying him cheap sketchbooks, as he didn't really use them. I asked some artist pals what to get him and this is what they recommended. Great stocking stuffer for that artist in your life.

Nice thick card stock paper that handles water color and other media quite well. This is less polished looking than the Moleskine Art Plus Japanese Albums but I that gives it more character which I like. It looks more like something you find in an eclectic store that only a few people know about than the Moleskine that is clearly something mass produced on a huge scale. This has fewer panels than the Moleskine but they're thicker (card stock rather than just paper). The cloth finished, hard covers of the Sennelier doesn't have a spine joining them so it just folds out as the covers come apart whereas the Moleskine does have a spine (you open it and pull the paper out which can be a little more awkward but is also more sturdy since it's never relying on the paper to hold the covers together). I'll most likely use both the Sennelier and Moleskine going forward. For work I want to show to other people, that doesn't require more panels/pages, I'll most certainly opt for the Sennelier. For personal sketching, practice and anything that does require more pages I'll use the Moleskine

Fun With Accordion Style Sketchbook
Used this sketch book for a watercolor pocketbook journal workshop in Grand Marais, Minnesota. Excellent performance with pencil, technical pen and light watercolor washes. I preferred the smooth surface and white pages for the plein air subjects I sketched. Others may be more comfortable with a textured surface and off white page color. (An option is to make your own accordion style sketch book with the paper of your choice.) The size is convenient and it fit easily into my smaller sized sketching bag. Carry a binder clip if sketching in landscape format to keep the book open and flat while holding it in your hand. Also, you may want a thick rubber band to keep it closed. Like many, I am a bit of a sketch book junkie. This was my first experience with an accordion style sketch book. I enjoyed the challenge of creating a composition of individual sketches flowing into each other across the pages. I definitely will be using accordion style sketchbooks in the future, particularly for telling the story of a travel experience.

Nice little book - best when on sale
great little sketchbook with thick paper - and since it doesn't have a binding like a book, it will lay flat for working in it. updated note: if you zoom in on the picture, you can see from that directon it has 8 pages - but that is actually the back of the book (you can tell by the cover with the embossed circle with 2 letters on it). SO if you flip it over to the front side, you actually have 10 pages.Thats the directon I am using it. Paper is thick enough that most media won't seep through to the other side if you would like to work on the back side too. I haven't used markers on it, so I'm not sure about that soaking through.

Very Small
Please be aware this book is very small...4" x 6". That and the price are my only complaints.

Fantastic Sketch Books
Fantastic journal sketch books. I took them with me to Africa and filled four of them with pen and ink drawings colored with water color paint. The paper did not bleed through. The colors were vibrant. The fan-fold made it easy to display my journals and carry the illustrations over page boundaries. I love these books. I bought another brand that was a bit cheaper and found it to be smaller with paper of lower quality. I recommend spending a bit more and getting these. You’ll be glad you did.

Reasonable for fountain pen sketching, not so much water media
The paper is ok for simple washes but won’t take too many layers unless you let it dry between applications which is really not conducive to Urban Sketching. It is a mixed media paper and not a watercolor paper. That said I was completely satisfied in the way it handled ink. I was able to use my fountain pens in a very pleasing way. I think if I were to buy it again it would be to use with ink and dry media. Perhaps markers but this is as yet untested.

Cool product i look forward to using it. Paper is very heavy duty, you could fully paint on it. For sketching it's a bit thick, they could have made the paper thinner and put more pages in it. I know Moleskine makes one with something like 80 pages or so, but the paper is only for sketching. Depending on what medium you're going to use depends on what one you should get. i was planning on sketching so this is a bit much but will use it gladly. Well packed and recieved in a timely manner.

Kinda confused
I dont understand why would someone put a sketch inside a brand new sketchbook, kinda defeats the purpose of it, its cool looking but what are we supposed to do, put a layer of paper over it? Im profoundly confused by this product.
