Works Incredibly Well!
This works incredibly well. My sensor, even though it was out of the sun was reading a lot higher diluting the heat of the day, so I put this on it and it dropped 10 full degrees is only 13 minutes. So it definitely works. I have a Hodik weather station and using a Hodik sensor, which snapped in place just fine, it went yo the correct temp within 20 minutes. I would definitely recommend this. I'm in the desert and I'm impressed how quickly it worked.

Lightweight, Good Protection from the Elements
This is a review of the AcuRite 06054M Solar Radiation Shield I know this shield was designed to hold and protect the AcuRite brand sensors, but I bought it in the hope that it would hold my La Crosse brand temperature/weather sensors, and I’m happy to report that the La Crosse sensors fit perfectly. Whoever designed these solar shields knew what they were doing, when they fitted them with a simple, but clever securing system, consisting of a membrane of flexible plastic located just below the top interior of the plastic shield. The sensor is inserted upright into the cowbell-shaped shield, through the open base of the shield. The La Crosse sensors are just under 5.75” high, and the shield measures about 6.5” from it’s base to it’s interior dome. The membrane that holds the sensor in place is located approximately 0.5” below the interior dome. This is just enough space to allow the “ears” of the membrane to surround and establish a decent grip on the top of the sensor. As noted earlier, the membrane is flexible, but it’s just firm enough to get a decent grip on the sensor. This permits both easy installation and removal of the sensor. The shield’s overlapping louvers allow air to flow through it, while keeping sun, rain and snow away from the sensor. There are several ways to mount the shield: by utilizing the built-in plastic loop at the top exterior of the shield, it can be affixed to a shepherd’s pole, or hung from a tree branch via a monofilament, or other, line; or by using the slotted tabs located near the top rear of the shield, to hang it on a wall, or a tree, via a nail or screw. The shield only weighs about 7.75 ounces (empty), so it doesn’t take much to hold it in place. I would have purchased the La Crosse brand solar radiation shield, since I have La Crosse brand sensors, but they were no longer available, as of this writing. Overall, I’m happy with the AcuRite shields, even though they are a little bit pricier than I had hoped. I’ve submitted a few photos, some of which I’ve labeled. I hope they help answer a few questions that you might have.

Overpriced But In Some Cases Necessary
I had no easy and convenient way to mount the weather station sensor without this. It keeps the sun and rain from skewing the temperature and humidity measurements.

There is little competition
I thought it should be way cheaper, but I don't have a spot on my house that doesn't get sun during some season, so I wanted something like this. I shopped around for a cheaper value, but decided that they have a monopoly--supply an demand, you know. I did eventually find another company (forgot) but it was about the same price. We've had some windy days and the the temperature/humidity gauge has stayed put. I mounted it under the eaves with a long eye-hook lag screw with the eye perpendicular to prevailing winds and fastened it with two strong cable ties. I like the new gauge much more than my (2 decades?) old one, so I am glad for the purchase.

Pricey for what it does, but definitely a great benefit for outdoor sensors
Have used various outdoor weather systems for 15 years - all die in 3-4 years because the outdoor sensors take a beating here in Ohio ( -10F to 100F ). Added this to my last weather station purchase 12 months ago, during spring cleaning today I checked on the sensor condition and it looks the same as it came out of the box. Clearly the companies that make these systems do not want you to buy these because it extends the life of their sensors! Takes 1 minute to snap this together - placed mine on a Shepherd Hook in yard. No more finding the sensor blown over, laying in a pudding, or buried under the snow for weeks on end!

I don’t think it helped much
Kind of expensive and I don’t think it helped much. Sun still throws sensor way off.

Works Well
I bought this for an Ecowitt WH32 temperature/humidity sensor. After a bit of modification, it fits nicely. I removed the plastic clip meant to hold AcuRite's sensor and replaced it with a bit of 18 gauge wire, then used another bit of wire to create a hook for the sensor to hang it off the first wire. This way, when I need to replace the sensor's batteries, I can just unhook it without any disassembly. It's been keeping the sun, rain, and snow off the sensor for over a year and shows no sign of wear or yellowing. The hole on the top is just large enough for a 15" hanging plant bracket from Canadian Tire (059-5696-6), which keeps the sensor from reading heat from my house in -40 winters. If I ever need another one (greenhouse?) I'd order this one again.

A Sturdy Plastic Cage for a Therm-Hygrometer
I bought this Acurite Radiation Shield/Cage for a different brand of thermo-hygrometer to the one it is designed for, as I knew that the generous dimensions of the internal void would accommodate my sensor. I was impressed by the quality of the this Shield which is quite a sturdy unit. The Acurite Shield, which arrives fully assembled, is actually constructed from a set of moulded white plastic louvre sections of tapering sizes with plastic latches that enable each section to click firmly into the next. These louvre units can easily be dis-assembled, if necessary, to assist in any modifications, which I needed to do in order to drill some fixing holes for my own cross piece that I screwed onto the internal top plate from which to hang my thermo-hygrometer sensor. The design protects your sensor from rain and also minimises erroneous readings due to direct sunlight but allows the air to flow through. I can recommend this unit.

Works Well With LaCrosse Temperature And Humidity Sensors
The Acurite weather shield works well to protect my Lacrosse temperature and humidity sensor from the sun and rain. This weather shield does not cause any inaccuracies in the temperature or humidity readings on my Lacrosse weather station. I highly recommend this very affordable product.
