Amazon reviews are not to be trusted. Lots of Fakes.
We used to be able to count on reviews here a little more than we can now. It's gotten really frustrating. The majority of these reviews are just not legit. These bags have the best star ratings on Amazon but notice how the more recent reviews tell a very different story than the early reviews. I usually don't waste my time writing reviews on here anymore for that as well as many other reasons. I'm going to make an exception here and write a review because so many people seem to be confused about what these watering bags are supposed to do. The purpose of these watering bags is not to continually feed your tree water until they empty. The point is to get all 20 gallons into the ground to thoroughly wet the area around your tree. So, for those that are complaining because these bags empty within a few hours, so what? Who cares? The point is to get all of the water into the soil surrounding your tree. Depending on the soil around your tree, when that soil dries out, you do it again. That's it. That's the purpose. Now, for reviewing the bag. First of all, this isn't much more than a 20 gallon bag with two tiny holes punched in the bottom. It has a certain shape suited for this particular use and it has a zipper. That's it. It's a plastic bag. Like any other thin plastic product, It will eventually break down under the UV and get brittle, even if it has UV inhibitors. #1 - This is an American company, but the product is made in China #2 - The reason the bags stop working is the designer for some reason decided not to put a flap over the hole where you put the water in making it very easy for debris to make its way inside the bag. As you can imagine, it won't take much debris to clog a tiny pinhole and stop the bag from working. A slight breeze could send dropping from a nearby tree into the bag rendering it useless. The inside of the bag needs to stay perfectly clean or it won't work. Hey Treescapes, It's not hard to inexpensively solve this problem. It's anyones guess why Treescapes doesn't acknowledge and fix this easy to fix this. TreeGator at least realized this, but unfortunately TreeGator severely overcharges. My recommendation is to buy the cheapest watering bags you can find and rig the bag to keep the opening closed so debris can't enter. If you leave them outside in the sun, they will eventually fail and when they do, replace them. But whatever you do, don't let debris in the bag.

My trees were suffering in the heat and drought. This is a perfect solution!
The media could not be loaded. The original one arrived with a cut/hole in the side that gushes water. It was immediately replaced by Amazon. The replacement works just like it is supposed to. It slowly seeps water out over a long period of time. It appears to be heavy duty and should last for years. It is too small to go around my big trees, but it has Velcro straps. I unzipped it, then just ran a bungee cord through the straps to secure it to the tree. I have been quite pleased with the way it works. It appears to be a great way to slowly and carefully water the trees. Not a drop of water goes to waste.

Great for keeping newly planted trees healthy
We were advised that to keep newly planted trees in our Colorado home to remain healthy we should use 20 gallon water bags to irrigate them on a periodic basic throughout the fall and winter months. While I can't speak to whether this has proved to be true as we just completed our first watering, I can say the bags were easy to attach to the trees and fill. I filled them up after lunchtime and could see the water was dispersing on all four bags I put in place. I can't say exactly how many hours it took to empty them, but they were all empty by the next morning. They seemed to work well for us.

Theses work as intended
I never thought our well established maple trees would need help, but last summer when we had 116° temperatures for the first time ever, our trees took a hit and new growth branches died. This year we had a long long dry stretch this summer. Record heat waves and I made sure to water all our trees. These bags filled up quickly and I love that I could zip two bags together to get around the larger trunks. This tree pictured doesn’t have two bags yet, but I’ll be buying a few more for next year. I brought the bags in for the winter to help protect them from the elements as this material will eventually break down when exposed to the sun.

Seems like it’ll do the job…
Easy to install. Not sure if it’s working…I seem to,have to fill it often.

Poor Durability
The product is easy to use, and worked well in watering my young trees through the hot Oklahoma summer; however, the product durability is poor. The plastic material that holds the water develops creases with time that eventually springs leaks. One of my bags had a complete blowout at the bottom with all the water gushing out (see photo). Another bag developed small pinhole leaks in the fabric creases. So, I purchased 4 bags exactly 3 months ago, and one is a complete blowout failure, a second has pinhole leaks around fabric creases, so I only have 2 that survived a 3 month summer period, and I highly doubt the remaining 2 will survive another summer. The product design works, and the zippers held together, but the actual fabric material used to hold the water is not durable and will fail within a short period. These might work fine in a mild climate with minimal use, but in a hot summer like in Oklahoma, they don’t hold up. I would not buy these again. They should last longer than 3 months!!!! ( Note: Also, one of the bags they sent me had a handle strap missing, and they sent me a new one to replace it, but then I had to waste my time and gas money driving to a Amazon drop off location because they wanted the defective one back. When gas was over $4.00 a gallon, this was a major inconvenience. They told me if I didn’t return the defective one, they would charge me for it). I seldom write reviews on Amazon…in fact this might be the first time I have actually criticized a product, but the durability of this product is a problem. My advice, don’t buy if you live in a hot climate…they just don’t last!!

It's fine
Treegator is probably better but this one is fine. It's quite a bit cheaper, and not having tried any other brand I can't point to any specific deficiency

Does the job
Does the job but springs a leak pretty easily which isn’t a big deal since that still serves the purpose of watering.

Does what it is supposed to do.
Saves time watering. Bought a seedling this year, planted it before the hot spell,(37+ degrees C, for close to 2 months now}, fill the bag up first thing in the morning, and you don't have to fill it until the next day. You can add your favorite plant food in there . One thing is to move the bag a quarter turn once a week so you don't get a moldy spot on the bag, or the ground. Plus it doesn't fall down when you add water to it. Definite game changer for those starting out to plant tree seedlings.

You get what you pay for...
I filled it completely full at 11:30AM and by 2:30PM it was already empty. That's far from the 6-8 hours they advertise. The stitching seems to be cheap and leak. I should have went for the actual Tree Gator original even though it was more pricey... I will probably have to return it.

Water + Trees
It's better than blasting the tree with water for 5 minutes with a hose, however, the water escapes the bag in a matter of 1-2 hours (not as slow of a release as expected/advertised). At the end of the day, the tree(s) are getting what they need - water.

This has totally saved my apple trees
I planted some new apple seedlings in my yard a little late into the summer. I was trying to keep up on watering, but after nearly half of the leaves yellowed and fell off, I knew I needed something more reliable. I saw some of these types of bags around the city on trees and looked closer for the brand. I immediately bought two on Amazon and got them on my trees a couple of days later. My trees have perked right up and grown a few more leaves. This is a great product for establishing new trees!

These saved our new trees
These bags are easy to use. Zip them around the tree trunk, fill with water (20 litres) and let it do it's job. Empties with a continuous drip in 6-8 hrs. Saved our new trees
