Every single negative review is WRONG!!
Usually when I think of making a purchase I read the negative reviews first. That way I get an idea of what trouble I might be getting into, or at least an idea of what to look for if I purchase the product. After reading the reviews I decided to purchase the product and deal with the negatives to have it meet our needs. The specific complaints were that it does not stay together, it is not water proof, flimsy design, falls apart when lid opened, sides "pop" together but don't stay... I could go on and on about all the negatives so I was prepared to address them because we wanted to store all our pool toys, games, life jackets for kids, etc... So when the package arrived there were six sturdy pieces of molded plastic and a small plastic bag with 4 screws and two plastic strips, and of course a sheet of directions. Now being red blooded american male of course I did not read the directions and attempted to assemble the box with my wife. You can say I think I hit every negative aspect of this box that was written in the reviews. However, my underlying thought was nobody would sell something as stupid as this! So I began inspecting each piece and the first thing we realized is the sides were not lined up right. They do not "pop" into the front and back they are put into the wide part of a slot and then slid down into the narrow slot area which "locks" them into the front and back of the box. So we connect the front, back and each side and put it on the bottom of the box. It lined up right but it was not sturdy and as soon as you moved anything the sides would slide up and out of the slots. Again we looked at the box and then I noticed on the bottom inside it said "This Side Down", DOH! So we flipped the bottom over and lined up the sides again and it would still fall apart. So I looked at the tabs on the bottom of the sides, front and back and it was clear that they were not "locking" into the base. Now I am thinking is this a bad design? Who ships out a plastic molded product where the parts don't lock? Ok, I guess it is time to read the directions to see if I am missing anything... That is where I found that you are supposed to take a block of wood, hammer and screw driver and punch out the tabs that are keeping the box from locking together. Huh? They injection mold this product using a mold that requires purchasers to slam the plastic with a hammer and screwdriver? Well I have hit enough plastic in my life with a hammer to know that a hammer will crack, damage or shatter a piece of plastic if you miss your target (i.e. the screwdriver) and hit the plastic. So instead I got my utility knife and put the blade in the thin part of the plastic between the tab and bottom frame piece. If you hold the bottom up to the sun you can actually see where the sunlight brightens the thin plastic. So I cut out all the tabs, which was actually very easy, and then tried assembling again. Every single tab "snapped" into place and the box was very sturdy and did not come apart no matter how we moved it, slid it or even flipped it upside down. We were pleased with this. Next came the lid. This had molded hinges with a pin that needed to slide through the molded hindge in the base unit to connect the lid to the base. It was actually quite simple. When the lid closed there was a small snap, not a sound snap but more like you could feel it snap. It was very sturdy and my wife, daughter and I all sat on the bench and it held together just fine. The way it is manufactured it is NOT water proof, if you submerge it, water will get in. It is water resistant and water will not enter the box from rain, pool splashing or a hose. It is intended to let the water run off the box and not into the box. We had heavy rain a couple of days and when we opened the box the contents did not get wet from the rain. So my final review of this product is 5 stars because it does everything it claims to do and all of the negative aspects reported are a result of user error (my opinion of course) because if everyone assembles it the way I did you will not need liquid nails, it will not fall apart and it will be water resistant. One final note, mine did NOT come with the dividers or lid net. I was told by Amazon that according to their fulfillment center it was supposed to come with them. They were going to send me a new one but I would have had to somehow take apart the box I had to return it and I do not believe I could do that without damaging it so I just kept it and they sent me a partial refund to buy the net and dividers separately. Very pleased with the product and Amazon.

Very useful!
I just got my pool and deck redone and my previous storage container was kaput. This is great for storing pool chemicals and stuff and the top also serves as seating. It rains here a lot so I wanted something that could withstand the elements. Very happy!!

Perfect size
I bought the small box to store my pressure washer on the deck, and it fits perfectly. I just ordered one for the porch to store sprays and other items for cleaning outside.

Regret.
*update* has anyone else contacted product support and actually received any response!? Of course I know you can't answer but I am not getting any customer service with Rubbermaid, at all. So annoyed. It's very easy to put together and I am sitting here with an untreated broken collar bone sticking out of my separated shoulder so I was able to get it together with one, sort of working arm and hand. BUT, the "hinge" on the top is so loose that it pulls apart while the other side, where it actually is supposed to open, is impossible for me to get it to lift open once latched closed. So I am only getting it to open backwards at the loose hinge. And there are rather large gaps where light is very visible so I don't see any waterproof capabilities that will keep the contents dry. Biggest gap being under that hinge on the lid. How does one keep bazillions of bugs and small creatures from colonizing the inside of the box? Not to mention the small holes in each of the inside walls? Not the recessed egg shaped places but actual small circles drilled into the inside walls? I assume that is for insulating purposes? So air can move in between the layered walls so mold doesn't grow and moisture doesn't eventually fill up the hollow walls? But it looks like a safety spot for any big that wants to be in a safe, dark, kind of cool place!?! Feeling like I could have done better making something myself. Even with a cheap plastic tote. Very disappointed and can't pay for the return option available for me. Weather stripping may help but in our heat, the adhesive will just become a sticky oozing mess and still putting me having to spend more money I don't actually have

Works perfect
I purchased 2 of these to store my 10 ft artificial Christmas tree. My tree is very large and we were having trouble finding something wide enough for it. These boxes work great to store whatever is needed.

The many pieces make it far less waterproof.
More parts than you would expect. Seems sturdy though. It is very doubtful that this will be waterproof in a heavy rainstorm, so be aware. I now put it inside my porch and do not put anything in it that might get damaged with water. Another problem is these plastic things are natural dehumidifiers, taking water out of the air, so they generate their own water filling the bottom.

Compact Storage Easy Assembly
I needed deckboxes for storing summer toys and love that I can use these as tables too. Nice construction where all parts snap together very easy

Not the smoothest construction
Bought this to store some outdoor items on our deck. A few things lost this item some stars. First, I was surprised I needed to knock out pieces with a hammer and screw driver to construct the box. Second, inserting the pins into the lid proved to be pretty annoying to do by myself. I ended up sitting the box on it's side, and hitting a pair of pliers over the end of the pins with a hammer to get them in, then flipping it over on the other side to do the other pin. Lastly after all was done, I discovered the holes for a lock in the lid and base didn't line up (likely warping in the plastic). Other than the few hiccups, the box is sturdy, and looks like it will last. I will caulk the seams to make it fully water proof, and keep bugs and spiders out.

Good box
Good box. Will do what I want however a couple times when opening the lid the sides come out. This is just a press and snap together type box so no secure hold. This was advertised as lockable however that is false advertising there is no way to lock this. They also neglected to advertise that you should weigh the bottom down with sand. The bottom plug to keep the sand in will not stay in mine so I have not done this myself. If you were looking to secure items in a lockable box this is not for you.

Attractive and inexpensive
Assembly was reasonable although my mother couldn’t have done it. To be used to hold cushions for our new deck, I was certain it wouldn’t keep dry inside so I bought a tube of silicon and sealed all the joints. Very effective solution and possibly one the manufacturer should suggest. Just saying.

Super easy to assemble and very sturdy!
I liked the fact that it was so easy to assemble. Everything clicked into place. It’s very large so it holds cushions for eight chairs along with some pillows. It’s very sturdy so at least 2 or 3 people can sit.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
VERY poorly made. The slide and snap walls are made of thick plastic, but unfortunately the seams are poorly designed and do not secure together properly. The whole thing falls apart at a slight jiggle or even attempt to lift the box. Three different people here tried multiple times to put it together, thinking perhaps the sides were not secured properly, but it is clearly a very poor design. We also could not get the lid to snap on. It's just not possible due to the design. Also, this unit would not be weather proof, which is what we were hoping for. The groove where the walls fit on the base will obviously collect water and leak towards the inside, and all of the joints are exposed. If this got rain on, anything inside would get wet.
