Works as advertised on plastic, but be careful of the concentration

This does dye plastic parts quite well, but I made a mistake you may avoid with this review. After reading a few online articles about how some people's project came out lighter than they expected, well...I used the whole bottle on a project. That was too much dye, it came out more of a super dark red instead of orange...not what I wanted. I "fixed" the project by just using Rit Dyemore Charcoal colored dye, making the parts almost black, which looked good. The lesson is if you use a light Ritmore dye, you need to get some scrap material that matches what you are going to dye, and start slowly increasing the concentration of dye in the boiling water while testing your scrap to get the exact shade you want (unless it is charcoal/black, then who cares, use the whole bottle). Also, I did the whole project outside with a portable stove burner...there is a slight smell I didn't want in the house, and if there was a spill by accident, it would be outside, no harm no foul. Also think out your disposal plan for the old dye...I would not pour it down a sink unless it is a sink that cannot stain. Good product if you are careful and think your project plan through from end to end steps.

perfect orange!

I used this for a quick velma costume, and the dye worked wonderfully. at first I thought it was coming out red but it turned out the most perfect orange. super easy to do on the stove, let it sit for about 15 minutes!

So easy and worked

I bought this to dye cotton clothing in order to make my son a costume for school. I've never dyed fabric before and was terrified to try because I was running out of time. I had a white shirt and khacki pants that I needed a deep, vibrant orange color, that I would then draw stripes on. I followed the directions on the back of the bottle and ended up using a large pot on the stove. The total process took about 30 minutes. I rinsed the clothes in the sink until the water ran clear then put them in the washer with a teeeeensy weeeensy amount of detergent. I was really surprised at how well the color came out. I dryed the clothes like usual and everything went really smoothly. The only issue I ran into was that I ended up dying the plastic cooking spoon (that I used to stir during the dye process) orange - haha! Rookie mistake. I was really surprised at how well the color came out on the khacki pants... I'll purchase this brand again, if I ever need to dye anything.

I tie dye and I had someone ask me to tie dye this sweatshirt to cover a stain. I used my usual dyes first but the sweatshirt didn’t accept the dyes so I ordered this dye. It worked amazing and it was easy to use. I followed the directions on the bottle (except I bunched up the fabric to get this look). I used half of the bottle and had it on the stove for 30min. I used apricot orange on this yellow/neon yellow sweatshirt. I don’t usually leave reviews but with these results, I HAD to because I know I was reading reviews like crazy before I ordered this dye.

Be cautious... The stains????

I dyed a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and 2 pillowcases. I love the color though i do wish it was like more of burnt orange. The only way i can explain the color is like burnt orange without the burnt. This dye in particular is very affective. It did stain my floors (thats on me) they are laminate it also stained the outside of my washer. i would use the washer method since this seems more prone to stains then the original liquid one. I also was not cleaning up after spills immediately which most likely contributed to the stains I would try to stay on top of that next time.

Can’t believe how well it worked!

So impressed with this dye, I have tried dying similar fabric before with the in washing machine dyes and left disappointed. This was so easy and the colour came out perfect!

Dyed well… a bit too well….

I liked the colour it made my dress that I intended to dye. I followed the instructions to a tee. Rinsed it out by hand and also put it through the washing machine twice to rinse…HOWEVER I put in in a wash with other items of clothing (after wearing it for Halloween) and it has dyed all my other clothes too ???? BE WARE

Very Impressed with Intensity

Very very pleased with this product! I used one bottle of this and a touch of synthetic brown to dye my 613 wig copper and it came out fantastic! Really pleased with the intensity of the colour for 15 mins and will definitely be buying Rit dye from now on!

Some results are great

I brought this product in an an attempt to dye to prescription glasses lens , the colour took really well unfortunately the integrity of the lens failed and ended up in useable . Not wanting to waste the pan full of dye I successfully dyed several other plastics with a brilliant results .
