The best heater!
Listen, the temperatures aren't exact. HOWEVER, I truly think this is still the best heater!!!! The #1 concern with aquarium heaters is shattering and this one DOES NOT SHATTER if you take care of it! I have bought 4 EHEIM Jager heaters and I have loved every one of them & recommended them to everyone I know! I use these for my red-eared sliders and one of my heaters has been in use for over 2 continuous years now with no dangerous issues. Granted the temperature is off, I'm sure there is a way to calibrate it but don't even worry about it, honestly. You should have another device double-checking your water temperature with every heater. Personally, I use one of those temperature guns after 3+ years of those stupid breakable in-tank thermometers. (They never last) But, all of my Jager heaters have lasted with no issues!!!! I know I said that they don't shatter, and mine haven't, but for an added safety precaution, I also buy protective covers for my Jager heaters. They are sold on Amazon too and I'm pretty sure they're around $10. Not only will it have added protection if the heater somehow shatters & it gives a little bit of heat protection for my turtles in case they hit their foot on the heater when it was running (it doesn't get that hot, but its more of a peace of mind thing). They come with little suction cups too and I think its worth it. As general safety tips, make sure you ALWAYS unplug your heater and let it rest a little while before removing to clean. Glass going from hot to cold really quickly could make it shatter!!! No matter how shatter-proof it is! I clean my heaters every time I clean my turtle tanks (2-4ish weeks). Especially with the protective cover I have on mine, dirt can accumulate, so make sure you're cleaning every surface of the heater on cleaning days. Be careful with the water temperature you use to clean it as hot to cold really quickly is again a recipe for shattering your heater!! In conclusion, I love my Jager heater but you should definitely not trust its exactly temperature measuring as it really isn't accurate. Use another thermometer's reading (or 2 thermometers) to adjust the temperature hotter or colder on your heater. Also look into getting a protective cover, more so if you have sensitive animals such as fish. I have been buying Jager heaters for about 3 years now and I will only buy Jager heaters!

Rock solid and reliable
I have had this 150W heater for nearly 5 years now, set up in a 55 gallon tank. It has consistently kept it at a fairly stable temperature range, and I have never had to worry about it or even mess with my setting on it. Sometimes I have also drained out the water too far while doing water changes, and it hasn't shattered on me, so it's pretty durable. The only downside is that the suction cups eventually just seem to stop working at some point, but that's just a fact of life for aquarium mounts. I just use the thick cable to hold it in place and have never had any issues. For the price and reliability, I just really can't complain. Five years is a lot to get out of a device for 30 dollars (well 27 when I bought it). It's still working.

Best heater
This is my 2nd one. The last one lasted 9 years without any problems at all until recently when it would have to stay on all the time to keep the temp. This new one is as it should be again. Highly recommend.

Great product bad seller
Bought from Amazon got refurbished it was half the price and I couldn't pass up that deal figured even if it had a problem id just return it but i had to at least try it so waited a few days when it was delivered it had 3 of the 300w heaters in the box I was pretty happy about that until I went to put them in my tank and found they were all super dirty one was broken and only one had suction cups and they wouldn't stick to the glass from what I understand you can't lay these type of heaters directly on the gravel so I had to go get suction cups and make them work not a great experience but I didn't want to wait any longer my old heater died and the temp in tank dropped to 67° last night so I did a water change with hot water to get the temp back up but can't keep doing that so I had to make the heaters work , now I'm glad I purchased the 300w heater it works great not one issue the temperature adjustment is extremely accurate it doesn't run all the time like my old heater once it hits the set temperature it shuts off until the temperature drops and turn on again I have 50 gallon tank and it rarely turns on keeps the tank exactly at the temperature it should be I'm extremely happy with it highly recommend .....

"You get what you pay for" Calidad superior
Después de sufrir unos 3 o 4 termostatos descompuestos (marcas típicas de 200-300 pesos) en los últimos 10 años, me decidí por el Eheim. Estoy muy satisfecho, y fue excelente decisión. La calidad es evidente a primera vista. El calibre del cable, la longitud, la calidad y grueso del cristal, la precision de la temperatura... cada aspecto es superior al típico regulador/calentador. Cuando algo se descompone parecería que no hay problema, que solo es cosa de cambiarlo y ya. Pero cuando se queda pegado y la temperatura sube a 38.C y pierdes todos tus peces... entonces es cuando paga el comprar cosa de calidad. Made in Germany Recomendado ! Tip: es importante NO comprar un modelo de mayor watts que los necesarios en relación al tamaño del tanque.

best heater
Jagger heaters are a go to heater. I have been using these for over 5 yrs and there have been no issues with them. They are highly reliable heaters that are quality made. They do require calibrating from time to time but that is very easy to do and there are detailed instructions on how to calibrate. I have only needed to calibrate maybe 1 time a year, if that. the only down side to these heaters is that they are very long so for smaller tanks or all in one tanks, they may not fit vertically.

Not precise setup
I purchased 2 for my 75 Gal... One working precisely, as you set Temperature on 78 ... second one I have to turn it to 81 or above to give me same temperature... I am returning it back...Another thing I dont like, the Dial Setup it very hard to turn and setup. Generally it is not bad, but make sure monitor the Temperature when you get it as new heater, make sure Thermometer is matching the Dial setup....other wise your fishes get cold or cooked. **** Really Hard to adjust these heaters, the adjustment wheel is very hard to turn, it is sticking too high or too low..... such a bad setup

The two Hydor Theo 300W heaters I had suddenly became sporadic in heating my 100 gallon freshwater aquarium a few weeks ago. These heaters were about 5 years old. It turns out when I removed them from the water I saw that one of the heaters had burned out (blast mark on the inside glass tube). So I decided to try these Eheim Jager models since the feature of the recalibration function seemed like a good idea and majority of the reviews I've come across have been positive. I ordered two 300W heaters to replace in kind. Well, when they arrived they were packaged in a very long narrow box. Turns out the heater itself is very long, heater itself is almost 20". As a result it cannot be placed straight vertical in the tank like the previous Hydor. Also, on the box there is a list of what capacity of tank each model of heater wattage can support. In this case the 300W supposedly supports 159-264 US gallons. Normal rule of thumb for tropical heating is 3-5w per gallon. Because of the size of the heater alone I was going to just use one, which I did for the first few days. However, the heater seemed to struggle with maintaining the desired temp of about 80°F, even with the recalibration settings. Heater seemed to hold steady @ 78.3°F (make sure you have an accurate thermometer!) and I could not get it above this. Defective heater? Hard to say at this point. So today (May 10) I decided to add the second heater which I was originally going to keep as a back up. I set it to 80°F and have not made any calibrations to it yet. I will see about resetting the first heater once I get I new temp reading. [update, May 20]: with both heaters set to approx. 80°F the water temp is holding at 80.4°F. Fish are happy. As for the quality of the heaters, they seem durable and the power chord is nice and robust, albeit a bit on the chunky side. Glass tube seems to be very impact resistant. The suction cups will be questionable as most in a submerged setting never seem to hold their grip over time. The plastic temperature dials are a tad tight to adjust. It takes some effort and can't easily be turned when the heater is mounted to the glass under water. Any adjustment I've had to make has to be performed with the heater unplugged and removed from the aquarium. I'm hoping once the calibrating is successful, the adjustments will stop. In the photos you can see both heaters in place and the angle they are at to allow full submersion without tube end touching gravel. Yes, these are long! Time will tell on how good these turn out to be.
