When it works, it's good

The unit looks well constructed and finished. It had a problem with the pilot light. The problem was too much gas flow to the pilot. This caused the flame to blow out, it would light but if you removed the ignition source the flame would just go out. Contacted the factory, tried to explain the problem, customer support was stuck to their script and unable to deviate. Returned it and got another unit which worked fine. It is a pretty good unit.

Can't get the 1 pound bottles to use on it where I'm at.

You should be able to get a hose to connect to it easily, I haven't been able to use it as I'm deployed and can't get the gas bottle to hook up to it to try it. Have a hose on order to be able to use it. That's why I rated it low, looks good no problem with shipping, just can't use it yet.

Wanted to like this

This heater received so many wonderful reviews on YouTube. My HVAC went out and I don't have the money to fix it, so I bought this. Well, the auto shut-off definitely works. My dog knocked it over and it wouldn't restart. I saw on YouTube that all you have to do is shake it and the bearing will go back into place.That worked, then I knocked over when it wasn't in use. I shook it when it wouldn't light and it hasn't lit since. So sad. I went back to my Big Buddy Heater.

Absolutely horrible

So I tested this unit tarp protected from the wind in temps 2-15 degrees F over 2 days. This unit would not stay lit despite new tank. On high 6 minutes lit time and on low 19 minutes then it would start to flicker and back to freezing cold temps. This is actually dangerous to depend on these units - thank God all my testing was done near my house.

Very, very difficult to light. If there is any wind you're sos.

Control knob extreamly finicky and difficult to position for the ignition lighting. Heat out-up and dispersion very good. Gulps fuel on high, medium setting best fuel to heat transmission.

We Love Our Buddy Heater

This is our second Mr. Buddy. This one is larger for when we use our larger overnight fishing hut. We tested it and it works. Have not used yet as ice hasn't been very thick this year and we also ordered an even larger ice fishing hut for next year. After working out the area space for two cots, we decided we needed an even larger hut. I also got this Buddy heater because I bought the attachable cooking element since this is for when we sleepover on the ice. We did use our smaller Buddy heater this winter ice fishing and we had fabricated a little grill on top which we use to warm up food. On a side note if you do the make your own grill thing, do not put it over the plastic handle or the heat will deform it. We did use our smaller Buddy heater to warm up our tent last year when we went camping. Worth buying and we now have a little Buddy, big Buddy and the Buddy cooking element. Oh, I almost forgot to mention we also have the travel storage bags for our Buddy heaters.
