Little light flashes!

The little light flashes once every 50 seconds or so, just as it is supposed to. Just keep the battery goode, and it'll be alright. So far it hasn't had to squawk, because my old house is drafty. I trust it. There are ways that you can test it, but I haven't gone to the trouble. I'm a retired firefighter, and you don't have to trust me... but you will have to trust this if you plan to use it. I do.

Batteries were old, otherwise ok

This item came with old batteries and I had to buy new batteries right off the bat. Otherwise, it works fine and the price is right.
