They work

I had recently purchased and installed 3 others of this brand that also had the carbon monoxide monitors. But I only really needed smoke alarms as my home is all electric ( no gas etc) So these were fairly easy to install. They are hardwired. So I disconnected the old smoke detectors and wiring, including the detector base plate attached to ceiling junction box. Placed new base plate on. Attached included wire harness to existing house wires. There is a red wire on harness that is not needed in my case. Then you plug in the wire harness to the smoke detector. Only tool needed was a Phillips head screwdriver. But I recommend using new wire twist on connectors to ensure good connections. The batteries are contained in unit. There is a green light that stays on all the time. And a red light that blinks about every minute. I had called their customer service to inquire about compatibility. No problem getting through to customer service representatives.

Seems good, slightly disappointed it's made in China

I bought one of these at home Depot and installed, and wanted another but didn't want to go back to home Depot if I could just get it here for a little cheaper. Same model, P12040. When I got it, it came in a basic cardboard box instead of the detailed store box that Home Depot sells. Then I saw made in China, whereas the Home Depot purchase was made in Mexico. If I knew that I would have just paid a few more dollars for the exact same product I had before. Other than that, and the lack of a sticker on the side that should say "photoelectric" they seem to be the same.

Good quality smoke deyecyor

I replaced my 6 existing detectors with this one. They come with a pigtail so you can easily attach the pigtail to your existing home wiring. I just bought this one because one of the existing was giving false signals causing all the others to go off as well. I removed the faulty one and moved one of the others to this location with no more false triggers. Then after a few days I put the faulty one in a different location and soon after started to get false triggering again. I replaced the faulty one with this new one and have not had another problem. By sticking with the same model, I just had to plug it in to the existing connector and mounting ring. I used a different model with 10 year battery life on my vaulted ceiling so I dont have to climb up there every year to change the battery.

Easy install

No more false alarms when I bake

I bought this to replace the dual sensor hardwired smoke alarm that was installed at the time we bought our house. It was exceedingly over-sensitive to the point where it would go off nearly every time we used our gas oven to cook. Being a networked alarm, all of the alarms in the house would go off, sending me in a mad scramble to push the hush button with a long pole, as the alarm is mounted quite high on our vaulted ceiling. After some research I found this alarm, which is hardwired but a single sensor design that uses an optical sensor and is reportedly much less prone to false alarms from cooking. After removing the old alarm and replacing the mounting plate with the one provided with this alarm it plugged in perfectly and I'm extremely happy to say I can now bake to my hearts content without any very annoying false alarms. If you have a smoke alarm that's causing you grief from false alarms when you cook, I highly recommend this unit.

Great replacement for my way-too-old originals.

These are great replacements for my 40+yrs old originals. I found them easy to install. Can't comment on battery life. These detectors usebattery only for backup and replacement is recommended at least once a year.

I got the wrong ones.

I thought I ordered the ones with the Co2 sensor and I didn’t. My fault. I looked at one and ordered the other and installed them. It was only after it was pointed out to me. Now I buy again. Great product easy to install. Even better when you can do it twice.

its a basic detector.

once I got the right hardwired detector it was easy to install because it was the same as the olod one. The old one had a wire come loose in the wiring harness.
