Love this timer! We have over 30 of these as water stations on our farm. Tried many other brands in the past and these are the winners!! Everyone wants and needs reliable timed water "outdoors" so things dont die. You want this! Its easy to install, screws right right into your existing water spigot. I was even happier when we switched to Energizer "Lithium" AA batteries, oh wow, those batteries (although pricey at $10 ea) avg), it is totally worth it as they will make these units function to their best and longest term and will help the unit avoid premature sticky solenoids. We used alkaline batteries and units failed in a year or 2. We work our timers hard, so on average they last 4 to 6 years. Rainbird brand lasted us less than 8 months These analog units are almost bulletproof as they can handle the harsh conditions of the desert day in and day out, here our direct sun will dry you out so bad, your lips bleed when you smile, what Im getting at is the LCD display timers cannot handle the direct sun either! lol But the LCD Timers are more suitable for an attractive install that's placed indoors. There's a few irrigation tricks you can do to make the best of your property using your timer w/ 1/2" black poly irrigation hose and drip irrigation fittings.

Made the mistake of leaving it out during winter and it broke

It works 100% as advertised, I made the mistake of leaving it out for the winter with water in it and it broke. Getting a new one.

Great for properly watering new grass seed

Easy to use, inexpensive, and the available settings are great for many different watering applications. I have new grass seed down and am using this to keep the seed consistently moist in the ideal fashion. Set it and forget it, very nice.

Consistent tool

I prefer the analog valve over the digital versions. Basic easy to operate and a pair of batteries works for the whole growing season.

Simple Set Up; Due to Water Pressure Impact, Best With 1 or 2 Sprinklers Only

Great sprinkler/hose timer for the price. VERY easy to program and install, but limited in flexibility. Impacts water pressure and, therefore, coverage area and number of sprinklers you can use at once. Programming -- One dial turns for MANUAL START minutes or RAIN DELAY hours. Second dial turns to set NUMBER of CYCLES within a 24 hour period -- NO CLOCK -- so your 24 hour period begins whenever you turn this dial. If that's at 2:22 pm and you've chosen 2 cycles every 24 hours, you'll get watering at 2:22 am and 2:22 pm. The third dial turns to set NUMBER of MINUTES each cycle will run. Installation -- Slide 2 AA batteries into the tray, screw the unit onto your hose bibb, set a dial or two, turn on the water, and you're done. I appreciated that there was no spray or leaking at the attachment points. The Manual Start feature can be used during installation to test sprinkler reach and coverage area. BE AWARE that this unit reduced water pressure noticeably. I recommend installing it BEFORE placing and adjusting sprinklers. If you do this afterwards as I did, you may need to start sprinkler set up over due to reduced water pressure and its impact. With our faucet on full blast, there was only enough pressure to run two pulsating sprinkler heads. Distance was reduced by 2-3 feet and rotation speed went down as well compared to performance before the RainDrip timer was installed. This was the case even though we regularly run 4-6 rotator/spray heads per zone with our irrigation system. I'd buy this again if I only needed a sprinkler or two.

Very easy to setup

This is a simple hose timer with an intuitive setup that can easily be done without having to refer to the manual. Controls one hose line and offers basic timing intervals. If you need more control over your timer schedules, you should go for a digital model.
