set up and cleaning

The set up isn't too bad. There was a little challenge on getting it lined up so you can lock it down into place. Clean up isn't that bad it takes me about 30 minutes to clean out the old bedding and lay down fresh. I love the size it was an upgrade for my 4 little mice. I love the extra space and the upper level. I use the upper level to put their food and water on, now their food does not get bedding in it. The spacing on the bars is small enough for Mice. Can house up to maybe one genie pig. Although I wouldn't suggest it because it is not big enough for two gennies. It could easily house two hamsters.

So happy I bought for my lil bub

I am SO glad I upgraded to this cage. My poor lil chungus was in a Ferplast cage and he is a bigge boi so it was too small for him. He was pacing and chewing the bars like mad and seemed so unhappy. I upgraded to this yesterday and within 24 hours I've already seen a change in him - he seems more relaxed and happy. He's been sleeping a lot after the big move but already made his nest nice and snug. He already figured out that climbing the bars of this one will be difficult, lest he fall. Lol I added some tubes from his last cage, plus his toys and extra bedding. Love that he has a big wheel now! The cage was super easy to put together. The clips that attach to the sides are sturdy. I really like the big platform at the top, and there's room for so many things (I added a sand bath and another hiding space). I'm a little worried about the gaps, but my boy is chonky so I'm hoping no escape attempts. I'm so, SO glad he has more space now - he deserves to live in the lap of luxury for the best two years of his life

Spacious & easy to assemble

This was so easy to assemble . It’s a huge habitat, takes up quite a bit of room - but I wanted something larger for my hamster. Lots of space for him to run around in , I found a larger wheel for him to get his exercise in. I’ve seen comparable cages that are over $40-$120 more than what I pad for this one & less positive reviews . Very happy with my purchase !

Best cage on the market

I bought the Prevue with a new hamster in mind, but when I went to the pet store and fell in love with a couple of gerbils, this cage became a gerbil chateau. Initially, I was worried that my gerbils would need more room to dig than what this cage offers. I even bought an aquarium tank / gerbilarium from one of this brand’s competitors (see pictured to the left of the Prevue) thinking it might be better than this one. I ended up deciding that the Prevue was better all around and regretted buying the other one. Here’s why: The construction on the Prevue is solid. The bars don’t bend like other brands. The floor space allows a lot of room for toys and activities. I was able to add in the shelf and a sand box after a few days, and the gerbils LOVED it. The gerbils can’t climb very high, so I don’t worry about them falling and hurting themselves scaling the roof of the cage. With strategically-placed boxes, there is room for digging and mounding of bedding, just not much tunneling. I had to provide some items for them to crawl and tunnel through. The cardboard box they came in made for some tunneling options. The CONS? Again, not much room for tunneling very deep. This thing is a beast to lift, but at least it’s not as heavy as a glass base aquarium. It’s a little annoying to line up when first putting it together, but the clips provided make sure it locks down and releases securely. Unlike other brands, I’m not worried about my gerbils getting out or getting hurt on this cage. The gerbils are going to knock a lot of bedding out of the cage. I’m going to get tired of this over time. But they seem happy and less prone to major bedding rearranging once they get things situated the way they like, so I guess I’ll put up with some vacuuming. If I could go back and do it all over again, I would still buy the Prevue for my gerbils. I kind of wish I hadn’t even tried to buy the other more expensive aquarium cage thinking it would be better. It wasn’t. My gerbils like this cage just fine even without the depth.

Bigger than you’d expect!

I’ve spent over 2 weeks searching for a decent cage for 2 female rats. I was looking for something a little cheaper but after hearing good things about this cage I decided to go ahead and try it. Definitely worth the money in my opinion. Set up took less than 5 minutes, you don’t need a screw driver at all, you simply pull out of the box, unbend the wire top, and snap or twist things to fit. I love the fact that the bottom is higher on the sides yet allows a nice amount of ventilation for a rat to breathe. Our critter nation was nice except for the fact that the plastic bottoms were so low that they’d kick bedding out and it would go everywhere, which was what I wanted to avoid. There’s also spots to place a water bottle nozzle into the cage without having to place the whole bottle into the cage. The landing seems very thick and sturdy which may deter some chewers from biting holes into it (another issue we had with the critter nation). The only con I’m finding in all honesty is two sides of the bars, one is pictured. There’s a decent sized gap I’m sure a hamster or even smaller rodent could get through it. Some zip ties should help that but as for rats the older they get they shouldn’t be able to get through the wire sides. The wire guard to on the side of the cage to hold the door in place might need some needle nose pliers to better secure it to the cage but it’s all about what you are comfortable with. All on all we feel it will be a great cage for our girls to grow into. The other picture shown was literally right after we set it up (water bottle had not been added just yet). Three girls or two male rats would be the max I would do with this cage. As for other critters, I’m not sure. A wheel or some hammocks could easily be added. You may not be able to tell but we have 2 small huts inside the cage, plus under all the bedding a decent sized hut that we buried since our original girl doesn’t like any bedding inside her hut. Even with the three huts there’s still a decent amount of space for them to run and play (which they did within an hour of being inside). So far, I’m definitely happier with this than I was our Critter Nation.

Tall side walls of tub allow for lots of shaving for digging without the mess

Perfect for Large Panda Bear Hamster ! We moved our adopted hamster in yesterday and he absolutely loves it ! He loves to dig and bury himself, and immediately went and cocooned himself in his house . The base is flat and doesn’t have the dimpled bottom that some cages come with - which makes it very easy to wipe clean . Corners are rounded with tall walls - which makes it difficult for the little critter to chew out . Probably not a bad idea to have a pair of good plyers handy with assembling as my cage came with some of the individual prongs bent that hold the walls together . Lots of room for accessories and toys . Second level easily for a 9” wheel . It is a very large cage and very roomy . I have attached a picture comparison of the cage he came in vs his new accommodations :) I do recommend a large setup for your little friend as they do like to roam, dig, and explore .

Highly recommended!

It can be quite exhausting and time consuming to find the right enclosure for your hamster but this one just came to the rescue at the right time. Great size, fantastic access and it fits any 12” spinning wheel for a Syrian hamster. It arrived quicker than expected, too. Easy to assemble and enough room for lots of bedding and enrichments to make your pet happy. The platform is very useful but you can always get rid of it and assemble few natural ones, maybe even on different levels which I’m planning to do in the future. Really happy with the product! Plus it looks beautiful with natural hideouts and accessories. It’s also on a list of best enclosures 2020 and 2021! Well done Prevue!

Huge hamster cage. Great. Love this cage.

Bought for a teddy bear hamster (which I think is truely named Syrian hamster) as he’s bigger than the smaller breed hamsters. And had barely any room in the first cage we bought him when there is an exersize wheel and house he can fit in in the cage. This cage is true to the reviews - it is great. Size would fit a amall guinea pig but bar spacing allows a cute little hamster so have delux room to roam and a second level which we use as the play area (so far). Perfect for the bigger breed hamster I have. Who is on the longer side. Would strongly recommend this to anyone getting a hamster or new cage. Worth the money considering I spent 3/4 the amount on the much smaller cage that didn’t allow him a top level. There was 1 or 2 bars that looked *slightly* warped, and I mean slightly. I couldn’t get a picture even that showed it correctly. This seems to have no effect at n the design or use of the cage. It also came packed really well. Unnecessarily well lol. It came with a detachable “locking device”. It falls off every time u open the cage. Easily fixed I think by pinching the clamps closed so it stays on the bars. Love this cage. All in all 5 star review. Wow.

ROBO OWNERS READ... Tiny hamster escaped

Got 2 of these cages, have a baby female Syrian in one it’s perfect & she loves it. So I another for my robo colony as I wasn’t happy with having a million plastic cages with tubes hooked up together, really really hard to clean & easy to escape out of. Not to mention the pet community hates them, pet store cages are generally found to be WAY too small... Anyway I didn’t realize the bars on 2 of the corners of the cage were too far apart so one of my robos ended up accidentally escaping on their 3rd night in the cage. I only found him cuz my cat started acting strange around the bottom of a cabinet when I went to feed my guinea pigs, I went to investigate & low & behold one of my precious little puff ball sized robos had gotten out of the cage & fallen off the table onto the floor. He was currently running at the wall full speed attempting to dig nothing, crazy lil robos lol. Anyway I got him back in the cage & luckily the rest were fine. I’ve now added zip ties to the corners so they can’t escape but if you look at the pics I’ll probably have to ad a few more, luckily it’s just in the corners. Spacing may appear bigger in pictures & like I said only one of the cages is like this, had it been my Syrian in this one & vice versa she couldn’t fit through that space & the robos wouldn’t have been able to escape through the original Perview 528 I purchased as the bars on that one don’t have such a wide gap. I’m still slightly nervous but as far as Syrians go it’s a wonderful cage & escape proof My roborovski dwarfs love it too other than the escape mishap, there’s room for multiple hides, multiple wheels, multiple tubes, a potty, sand bath, dig box in each cage & a really great deep pan for lots of bedding Just be sure to have enough bedding on hand cuz it can hold a bunch & hamsters should have at least 6 inches of bedding to burrow in. In fact some hamsters won’t burrow at all until their given over 6 inches! Plus the large cage size & amount of bedding you can fit really cuts down on cage cleanings & on bedding in the long run! Large cages need cleaning much less frequently so don’t be shy fill her up! Overall I’m satisfied with my purchase & very happy that my hamsters don’t have to suffer in tiny cages! My Syrians Perview 528 cage is a natural theme with coconut fibre, aspen, reptile moss, alfalfa hay, bendy bridges & dried flowers to compete the aesthetic! Dried flowers have the added bonus of smelling great too!! Just make sure you get the kind safe for hamsters ;) The heigh of the cage provides room for a very large wheel too & the platform can be adjusted to different heights. There’s also plenty of room for adding xtra platforms & hides too! I purchased a few on Amazon to create another level that goes around the top of my Syrians cage I was able to fit 2 wheels & multiple hides in my robos Perview 528 cage & because the pan is so deep they’ve created an entire network of tunnels all throughout bedding!! It’s adorable!!! It has multiple entries all over the cage & they’re all connected I hadn’t had them long but since transferring them to this larger cage I see them running about all the time zipping here & there through their tubes, up the ramp around the platform back down & around again lol. Enough room for plenty of enrichment! Just be sure to check the corners carefully & use zip ties if your nervous! Overall recommend!

Good size and value, average quality

Easy to assemble (only took about 20 mins - no tools required); the bars are bendy and weak so be wary of that, but considering the low price that's not a big deal. The size is more than adequate for a Syrian hamster (my 12 lb cat fits in it comfortably), and it fits a 12in wheel easily. I like that the shelf isn't so high that if a hamster fell off, he would be injured. The cage doors are a little loose, so I use clips to hold them in place. Overall, happy with the product.
