The magnetic catch works extremely well. I installed with a 15/16 spade bit, just drill on low speed and take it slowly. Only complaint is the little rubber bumpers included are worthless, and since the installation manual recommends purchasing Poron Xrd foam to reduce noise, I think the company is aware the bumpers don't work. But why make customers buy a separate pack of Poron for $10 that will give you 9 times more Poron than you need? Just include a single strip of Poron in the package!

Novel product, but not the easiest to install

Directions are limited and the included screws are terrible. Still this is a very useful product if you have enough patience to figure out the install.

Worked great, strong magnet.

My wife was very skeptical of this product because of the color. We have mostly bronze fixtures in our house. However, we use this to keep a sliding door closed, and it worked to perfection. The magnet is extremely strong and because it’s seated in the edge of the door it’s not noticeable at all. If my wife is happy with it pretty much anybody would be. Only drawback you have to buy a 15/16 drill bit.

A little pricey but…

Packaging was top notch and reflective of the strong magnets inside. I wasn’t thrilled with the price but thought it convenient, even if it was only enough for one door. Since this purchase, I tried to find high quality magnets that are strong like these. Haven’t found them yet in this compact size. Ordered a few but they are junk. What I didn’t expect that actually makes this worth the money vs DIY sourcing I thought I could do. 1. Little rubber bumpers included. Very nice 2. Metal covers for the magnets to give them a finished look. Sure sellers have these in bulk but why end up with a bunch of extras. 3. Magnet strength 4. Shins to optimize space between magnets Overall, I was tempted (and tried) to source something similar but realistically by the time I buy all the parts, it will be more money and time than if I just buy these sets. All things considered, I’d buy these and just get the project done.

Pretty Slick

Not cheap - over $30 for a set of doors - but pretty effective. To install, just drill a one inch hole and pop in. You dont need to remove your balk latch, or install in the same spot. I just installed next to them, and removed the ball from the top of the door. So much quieter...

Very strong magnets

Purchased these to replace the weak magnetic catches that came stock on a custom French door. These magnets are much stronger and hold the doors closed tight. The kit also comes with spacer gaskets that allow you to fit the magnets closer together if there is a large gap between the door top and frame. Very happy with the quality of this product.

not really for retrofit

I bought these to replace the ball catches for a set of doors in my house. I hated the ball catches cause they were loud and never held the doors closed. Every few years I would have to replace the assembly due to the spring losing tension and the springs needed tension for any hope of keeping them shut. These work very well because the magnets are very strong. The issue is due to fact that I already had ball catches installed I had to do some work arounds for it to fit my application. Since the holes from the ball catches were not an exact fit, I removed the ball catch assemblies and cut and glued a section of dowel rod to fill the void. I used ratcheting straps to hold tension of these plugs until the next day. The following day, I used a 1" spade bit to drill down into the new plug just deep enough for the recess of the magnet to sit. For the catches, I remove the plate and had to create a jig to drill similar 1" hole where the catch plate was. I also had to use a longer screw than what was supplied. I have some patch work to do to make it look better where the old catch plates were and I had to supply my own bumpers to keep the door from slamming shut (I used cabinet bumpers), but for the 1st time since the house was built in 2003, those doors stay reliably shut.
