Not as good as the Hydrofarm blue handled straight pruners which apparently have been discontinued but they work almost as good. Little stiffer in action on the handles, which is not good on bad arthritis days but a good purchase overall. If you can find a pair of the Hydrofarm blue straight handle pruners, buy those over these and the Hydrofarm blue handled curved pruners which they still sell. Both have smoother action on the handles when using them and the blades seems to be ground differently because those had a smoother feel as well (Anyone who has handled scissors for years with people or dogs will immediately know the difference and know what I'm talking about) I wish they had not discontinued the blue straight pruners. This is a good pair if you cannot find either one of those or a great addition to a variety of pruners. I have four others (all Hydrofarm) I tossed my other brands. Hydrofarm's pruners seem to be the perfect size for everything I need. Not too big and not too small, the weight is just right. So far none of my pairs have failed on anything I've done with them. They don't seem to dull quickly either and I use them a lot. Two pairs that I own are a couple of years old and still going strong. I've tried other brands and styles and keep coming back to Hydrofarm because I can use them for extended amounts of time (if my arthritis isn't acting up) and not get any cramps in my hands or wrists.

Blade quality doesn't hold up
Really loved the look and feel of these when I got them out of the package they came in. Fits the hand really nice and the spring makes it super easy to use on the hands. The contour of the blade is awesome as well. For extremely light pruning of leaves and SOFT stems these will never have any issue. (I mean u can just use your fingernails in that case too though). But after pruning older parts of plant stems that are a bit more dense than a fresh new leaf, the blade coating gouged off in spots and looks to be slightly chipped! Im shocked after the first use my blades look in this condition. Considering returning and just buying a cheaper pair of knock off snips for under $10. BEWARE.

Comfort , precision, quantity. The best!
So comfortable to use. Just the right spring pressure, and ultra sharp! I’ve used many, and none hold a candle to these.

High quality for small garden jobs
My wife likes gardening & was doing much flower deadheading using our kitchen scissors so I thought I'd get her a garden pruner made specifically for this task. Two highly rated ones on Amazon were these & theFiskars 9921 Softouch Micro-Tip Pruning Snip . I was leaning toward the Fiskars because they had many more Amazon reviews. However, many of the top Fiskars reviews were over a decade old & one more recent review from a professional gardner said he thought Fiskars quality was slipping. That rang true with my more limited experience with Fiskars kitchen scissors. So at the beginning of the 2014 season I bought the Hydrofarm. Over 6 months later I can say my wife loves using them, the spring & sharpness of the blades makes cutting so much easier than what she was doing. Finally, they've stayed very sharp all season despite my using them for some tasks where I should have used more heavy duty pruners -- but I chose to use these because they're light & let me cut small branches quicker than my standard garden prunerFiskars PowerGear Large Pruner (7936) .

Better than the Fiskars
I own both the Hydrofarm and the Fiskars version, I alternate between the two when doing a lot of trimming. My girlfriend and I argue over the Hydrofarms. This is a compare and contrast between the two. First off the Hydros have a nicer grip and feel sturdier and better constructed than the Fiskers. The Hydros are slightly heavier and a hair larger and longer than the Fiskars which I personally like. Probably most importantly, I can trim 5 times as much with the Hydros before they get gunked up with pollen but when they do they're much easier to clean than the Fiskars because the blades are smoother, wider and seem to have a nonstick coating on them. After hours and hours of trimming and multiple cleanings of both, the Hydros have retained their smooth action whereas the Fiskars feel gritty and have to be constantly oiled to get them to spring back all the way. The locking mechanism on the hydros sits flush on the snip, on the Fiskars it protrudes slightly. Both work well but the lock on the Fiskars is easier to manipulate. Fiskars snips came out a long time ago, produced a good product and had no competition for a long time but since then the snip has been significantly improved upon.

This Hydrofarm 400 are very good, but not excellent.
I have used a these pruners weekly for 3 years. That is not bad for $12. By now the sleeve has two cracks, but it still holds the pruners firmly. The sliding lock lasted about two years and I learnt to do without. Today the spring broke and I am putting these pruners away. I don't want to throw them away because I heard that some Hydropnics stores have free replacement springs. You can buy 10 replacement springs for $7 on Amazon, but I only need one and it is not worth it. I think I got a good return on my investment. I bought a Corona and a Felco 310 as replacements. I would buy this product again and would recommend it.

Works great
This pruner seems identical to a Barnel GC678 pruner my wife had paid considerably more for, and this Hydrofarm pruner has a convenient plastic holster that comes with it. So far it has worked very well, and the holster is a big help, as it is easy to misplace one of these if you need to put it down temporarily. I had also used another similar pruner that was orange and gray--a Fiskars Soft Touch AA0211. It was so sharp at the tip that it came with a plastic cap for the tip to keep users from harm. It should have been easy to just make the tip a bit less sharp, rather than include the cap that was easy to lose. Also, the spring came out of it too easily, and that pruner eventually broke in such a way that it could no longer be locked in a closed position. The Fiskars pruner was just a piece of junk in my opinion.

Not hydro farm
Not hydro farm, unknown ‘chop chop’ brand. Look ok but will be returning for refund and going elsewhere, for the premium brand I ordered and paid for. These are a fiver on eBay. Delivery was a week too, total waste of time.
