Works wonders.
My husband and I bought a house last year and I have been in an ongoing battle with the fountain that came with it. Desperately trying to keep the water clear rather than draining it every two weeks/leaving it empty because of algae blooms. I wish I had a before photo because it was green and cloudy. I gave it a very light scrub to loosen things and then put the filter in. This is the result less than 24 hours later. I don’t have any animals or plants in the water like many other reviewers so I can’t speak to how effective it would be in that situation, but I am ECSTATIC with these results and think this is the key to me not hating this fountain. As you can see I did take another reviewer’s advice and weight it down with a spare brick because it does float around if you don’t.

Does the job
Having had previous Pondmasters, I like the integrated pump. This replaced a better designed but much more expensive in pond pump-filter combo. All the in pond pump-filters have failed after a couple of years so I don't see any of them as long term products. Downsides - very lightweight and will shift around the pond, can only be removed by sticking your hand in the water to grab the handle)

I bought this filter for my turtle pond and it clear everything up compared to other filters that left the slime behind….I had it for 7 months and it has finally went out on my turtles, guppies and goldfish out of nowhere

Great pump!
The media could not be loaded. I have a small patio pond made from a 55 gallon stick tank that sits on my patio from late spring to early fall. We've gone through 3 filter/pump combos in the last 2 years. This has only been in a few days and it's working the best out of the 4 that we have had. The extra long cord made it easier for plugging in and we didn't have to use an extension cord. The valve on top is adjustable. All the settings from high to low work wonderfully. We keep it on the lower setting because of the size of our pond. It was easy to install, but I removed one star because the suction cups did not stick no matter how many different places we tried to set it up, so we had to use a few smaller rocks on the corners to hold it down. Because of the surface area size and the size of my pond I don't think and it doesn't seem to affect the performance. I get up at 430am for work and I love the sound the splashing/trickling water makes. I love listening to it while drinking my coffee. In fact, I'm hoping to talk the hubs into moving the whole thing inside at the end of this season instead of draining it and moving the fish back to their tanks.

Spout change has made this junk
Bought this pump 2 years ago and it was nice but stopped working after 2 years. New unit came with a spout that does nothing but dribble instead of spray a mushroom shapped spray of water. The new unit spray nozzle gap it too large and it does not work properly.

Great value and performance.
I bought this filter for my koi pond that is a repurposed 150 gallon water trough. This filter has great surface area and three filter pads that keep the water crystal clear. It’s real easy to service the filter pads and assembly is a breeze. Highly recommend this filter for many applications, especially if you get it at the sale price.

WOW ! Five stars
I bought for a small deck pond (35-40 gal) that was difficult to keep clear. Seven fish, lots of lilies. In the first 12 to 16 hours the pond was CLEAR! The filter was caked with gobs of sludge and other waste. I cleaned the filter pads and now the pond is clear. All I can say is that for me this thing is a miracle worker.

Great Value
Installed in a fair sized pond (4' by 20') to remove small particulates and create a surface ripple to reduce mosquito breeding. I had low expectations, but am impressed. The construction is fairly cheap, but it has noticeably improved water clarity and reduced algae growth. The pump has been running for a month now without issue. Cons: floats unless weighed down and power cord could be longer. Pros: great value. Assuming it continues to work, I would buy again.

Absolutely love this!
I read some comments before buying, that it didn't stay at the bottom of the pond without weight. So I put weight on it, and it's turned out to be an excellent unit for my small pond. I've had it less than a month and have cleaned the filters out twice already. I was so excited when, after about 3 days, I could actually see my fish, and the bottom of the pond! I took off the fountain spigot and hooked up a piece of hose, ran the house out and around the pond to create a small waterfall down some rocks and back into the pond. For me, it is ideal -- small and flat, cleans the crud out of the pond and the pump is strong enough to run my little waterfall. I am very, very happy with this purchase.

Not as advertised
This was much smaller than expected. It did not produce the effect sought after as advertised in my 4x8’ pond. Might be more effective in a very small pond.

Relatively inexpensive effective pump/filter system for smaller pond systems.
Purchased this pump to replace a 12 year old Laguana pump. Seems to be doing the job for the time being however only time will tell about the durability of this unit in my small 80 gallon fish pond.
