Great Placemat for My Messy Cat!

My 10-year-old cat is very messy when she drinks her water. I've actually watched her and she will stick her paw in her water bowl, lick her paw, repeat, repeat, until she decides to drink from her bowl like a normal cat. Because of this, she gets water all over the floor near her bowl and, when dirt and her food mix in with the water, it can create a mess. I decided to find her a placemat to solve this problem plus add a little bit of decor to her feeding area. When I searched on here for placemats, this was one of the first ones to come up. I liked the design, the reviews were good, and the price was excellent so I ordered it. This placemat has already done a great job of keeping my cat's feeding area clean. The mat measures 19 inches long and 11 3/4 inches wide. It's made of thick plastic that will clean easily. The mat is actually fairly similar in looks and size to a placemat that people use. So far, I haven't had it slide around on the floor but we also have a big automatic feeder plus a bowl of water sitting on it so it's weighed down pretty well. We have water bowls that are about 5 1/2 inches in diameter and I can easily fit three bowls on the mat if I wanted to but one water bowl and the automatic feeder take up all of the space currently. The biggest reason I chose this placemat is the adorable design! I love the bright, colorful words like "love," "cuddle," "snuggle," and "sleep" that are printed all over the mat. The background of the mat is slightly opaque so you can see through it but not that much. It's kind of like a frosted shower curtain. So far the words haven't started to peel off at all and only when I scraped my nail really hard on it did some of the lettering come off and it was barely enough to notice. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase and would buy another one of these if and when this mat wears out. I think it not only adds pretty decor to my cat's food area, it also protects the floors better and so far we have had no trouble at all with it. This mat would be great for cats and dogs and I highly recommend it!

I like them but the were so big that they took ...

These placemats are big. I assume they are meant to go under a feeding station with water bowl in a corner of the kitchen or at least away from high traffic areas. I have 3 elderly cats who get fed canned food a couple of times a day and I just wanted something to go under the saucers I feed them on. When they eat they end up pushing bits of food over the edge of the saucer and I would have to wipe up the floor in 3 places after every feeding. So I got these placemats. I like them but the were so big that they took up a huge amount of real estate on the kitchen floor. This was hazardous because every time I stepped on one by accident, as I was getting my own breakfast or dinner ready, I'd surf across the floor. So I cut them in half, rounded the cut corners and now they are perfect. They rinse off in the sink and are ready for the next meal time.

Ink rubs off

It's a placemat. It should withstand light washing with soap and water, but the ink has already started to wash off.

For My Cuddle Cat

I have a 20 year old cat that is my best friend. He helped me get through the sadness when my husband passed away. His feet has never touched grass!! He has different meows for what he wants. Believe it or not, we communicate. When I saw this pet mat it showed every feeling I give him and he gives me. I didn't even look at the price. I would have paid ANYTHING. So when I printed the invoice, I was floored. And be assured that I also love dogs and had them along with my cat but I am in a living facility now where I can only have my cat. I would not have moved here if I couldn't have my little partner.

Worth it for the price

I use this place mat for a min pin's water and food bowl. If you have a bigger dog (or bigger food bowls) this mat is NOT for you. My min pin's dishes juuuuuust fit on the mat. For $2.99 it does its job. With that being said, I have another place mat for my boerboel pup. His mat is bigger and has a backing on it so the mat doesn't slide all over the place. I wish this mat had the same backing. However - the other mat was $15. So, as I already said - for less than $3 it serves its purpose.

The placemat is really very cute. unfortunately, it's see thru and not suitable for my patterned linoleum floor. It is a little slippery too. I have a little Chihuahua so her bowls do not weigh it down enough because they are lightweight and small. I'm thinking about putting a sheet of the white shelf liner stuff under it, you know the kind of rubbery stuff. I'm sure that would work....and I bought the food bowls to match.

Doesn't quite protect the floor but does what it says it will

I am going to give this 5 stars with one caveat. Take an old $2 throw rug and put it under the mat. The reason is this is plastic and when pooch drinks the water, what spills over the mat ends up underneath, causing a trapped wet spot between the mat the floor. You probably can get what happens when water just sits on your beautiful floor. So the product does it's job in protecting small spills but there is still an issue with water getting underneath.
