Works great with good seed capacity

I've had trouble with magpies and crows scaring off all of the other birds and eating all of the food, so needed something that would deter them while providing food for other birds. I'm pleased to say that this works quite well. The magpies cannot use it because of both small perch size and weight-activated mechanism. They tried a few times and gave up. The crows have not tried at all. Squirrels were unsuccessful, although that was not our goal since we feed the squirrels. Refilling is simple since the top mouth is easily accessible with a lid that raises up (but is secured down) and wide enough that seed containers can easily pour refill seed in while the feeder is still hanging. This convenience is not the case in smaller feeders. The large capacity is helpful and lasts a number of days and the four-ports are a minimal must to accommodate any volume of birds. The only down side is that birds do scatter seed while eating it from the ports, which does create a ground-feeding scenario below. That has caused the magpies to still hang around some. But they don't get sufficient amounts of food, so tend not to stay, and I hope they will relocate. The ports do have little plastic/rubber baffles that hold the seed in but allow for beak penetration. Perhaps the baffles scrape off some of the seed that might be on the birds' beaks or perhaps the birds are simply sloppy. I hope the baffles last and that the drop-down perches stay attached. The unit was thoughtfully designed and seems well made. I've ordered another one.

Good feeder with a few faults

I've had this feeder for a few seasons now. It is very popular with the birds and the squirrels can't get to it. It also holds a lot of seed which started out to be a great thing (less frequent filling); however, as a few others have mentioned, moisture gets in and the bottom of the feeder gets moldy, clumpy, and stopped up. It's also hard to clean (I have to find a long straight stick to poke at it to get it to come loose). Because I've had the feeder for a few years, the plastic feeding ports that hold in the seed have stretched out, so now as birds feed, a lot falls to the ground. My ground under the feeder is completely coated with seed every day because of this (which makes the squirrels very happy). I will be replacing my feeder for the spring.

A very robust squirrel resistant feeder.

This feeder does the trick. We had purchased a competitive squirrel proof feeder and our aggressive gang of 6 country squirrels ripped it out of the tree and broke it the first week we had it out. We spent 10.00 more for that feeder and we were happy Amazon took it back for full credit. It’s just been 2 days out with this feeder, but it has been very resistant to their assaults so far. Hopefully that will continue.

Nice size

This is a nice size birdfeeder. Holds a lot of feed, so you don’t have to fill it so often. Keeps the squirrels away.

Bird Feeder

The birds love this feeder and I love it as well. I had different type before that was like a house and would have only one to two birds feed at a time. Plus the squirrels figured out how to hang and eat up the food. This feeder, multiple birds able to feed and haven’t been bothered with squirrels so far.

Finally a bird feeder that doesn't let squirrels dump all the seed on the ground. Keeps really large birds off as perch automatically shuts off birdseed for large birds.

Can’t Recommend Unfortunately

I love the look of this feeder it is very sturdy and ideally would hold a lot of seed. However, I have had to throw so much seed away due to mold and mildew that has developed because of excess moisture over the winter, although I had a cover overtop. In order to clean it I had to take the entire feeder apart and the spring action never worked properly again. My advice to anyone that wants to use this feeder is to first use a feed and seed protector to eliminate moisture and keep the seeds fresh. But for the hassle in cleaning and the size which seemed like a good idea at the time, it’s too expensive and a waste of money. I’d rather have a smaller feeder that’s easier to clean even if it means refilling it more often.

squirrelmproof!

it is perfect. No squirrels have been able to access the contents. It holds a large amount of seeds; I use it for sunflower seeds. It works as well as my squirrel buster plus feeder, and cost almost a third of it. Also an added plus, the seeds do not flow out all over the place but stay in the feeder for the birds. I'm extremely pleased on all counts and definitely recommend this model. Thank you.

Bird proof.

To be fair, the quality is top notch. The feed is kept dry for a decent time. But the birds can’t be bothered with it. Sorry to have to leave this review. If there is something I can do to make it more attractive to birds I am open to listen.

Squirrel be happy MAX 1.8 Kg free food for them

They eat all the membrane, now this bird feeder completly useless. They figure out "how" help the bird seed get out faster. The squirrel managed to "hold" on the cord (located on the top) with one feet, and cut the membrane... The only way the mecanism can work, is if we install this bird feeder from bellow... From the top is useless agains Squirrel..
