So far so good.
Nice pen. Simple to operate and so far, no problems at all. An LCD screen is the only way to fly. Nice storage box with magnetic closure... These kits get rearranged all the time, and the included "extra heating element" they mentioned was not included, so I purchased one here at Amazon... only a few bucks. I like having a backup. I don't draw with it. I use it mostly for 3D printing work, building objects, repairs, welding plastic pieces together, and so forth. I use a soldering iron, hotmelt glue gun, welder... various things.... but this pen shuts itself down. (Update May '23: The auto-shutdown is driving me nuts. There's no battery so why do it every 2 minutes. All my other tools are hot, and sit there waiting for this pen to reheat. Jobs take more time. Auto-shutdown is actually wasting energy.) When I reach for it, I know I'll have to press a button, sit there, and wait for it to reheat. By the time it does, whatever I'm working on probably cooled and hardened, and that also needs re-heating. This is a constant, and I suspect will be a perpetual annoyance. I'd like to eliminate that 2 minute auto-shut-down. I bet it's as easy as plugging the pen into a computer USB port, and reprogramming one number... I made a spool and holder to fit this pen. It holds about 25 feet of filament. If you know someone with a 3D printer, they can find the STL print files on Thingiverse and print one for you.... Go to Thingiverse dot com and search for "Spool for MYNT3D Pro 3D Pen". One other thing... The provided USB cord is the stiff kind. Not a soft, silicone type.... You gotta fight the weight and stiffness of the cord. The cord is stamped with a 300 volts rating. That might be a little overkill...

Their customer service is good (Broken Pen)
*Update* After contacting their customer service, they sent me a new pen. Very happy that they did this and they were fast and polite. Original: The power cable, that came with it, does not fit the socket...never turned on for me. Waste of money.

My daughter loves this pen
We were originally going to return the pen because it didn't work well with the included materials. We then realized it was too late to return and order some PLA. The PLA we ordered works better with the pen and my 11 year old daughter loves it( so most likely the material sent with the pen was bad). The pen itself works well.

Probably about as good as it gets
I had never used one of these pens before and wanted to give it a try to see if I could make any real use of it. I tried using both PLA and ABS and I prefer PLA because it’s cleaner to work with. The pen is fairly well designed (I wish the speed control was not opposite the feed button as it is easily moved while in use.) I bought a silicone mat with grooves which is almost a necessity if you want straighter lines or accurate curves. It’s difficult to get any accuracy when moving in 3D space when there isn’t a foundation under the melting plastic, so the best way to use this is to work in 2D and then join the pieces/sides together. The temperature control is straight forward. At lower temperatures it automatically indicates PLA and at higher temperatures it automatically indicates ABS. I wish there was an auto feed to get the raw material right to the tip and then auto stop. I also noticed that especially with ABS the plastic continues to ooze out of the tip. All in all I’d rate this pen a 9 out of 10.

Great! I Would Buy It Again
This is so great, I recommended it to my friend and they got it too. I have a 3D printer, but some things are better suited freehand. This allows you to break free of restraints of build plate restraints and allows you to do things that may fail on a printer because you can vary the control yourself, like a vertical standing string. There is a learning curve, you will definitely need more filament. I really like that this allows temperature settings for abs and pla. I can make 2 flat objects and then join them at off angles which I really like to create true 3d objects with ease. This of course comes at the cost of it only being as accurate as your hand moves. I suggest starting with the speed at the lowest level. Play with the temperature if needed. I suggest buying a roll of 20$ Pla filament for 3d printers like hatchbox unless you want the color variety. Then buy a 3d pen variety kit, but it will be more expensive. I was nervous about the temperature, but in reality, I can touch the filament as it just came out of the tip. I made a stand as my first project to hold the pen, but it turns out, letting sit flat on the silicone mat worked fine. The fresh pla was hot but wont leave a burn. The speed control, temperature control, and ease of use is amazing. Beware the chord is kinda short, i used it about 4ft from the plug, you may need an extension chord. The box it came in was packaged so nice! You’ll want a pair of tiny precision wire snips to cut off excess drool from your print, since as you pull away it will leave strings. I also got the myint doodle pad which was nice but not necessary to make precise shapes. I found the prints sometimes cooled and peeled off my surface. Using masking tape helped it adhere better, as is the same with 3d printing. If its an issue for someone, I wonder if some sort of mild heated bed would work, like a beverage heater..? I find in my use, the nozzle gets covered in the filament as I rub it around, so I bought a brush set from the dollar store and it works perfect to brush off the filament while the tips hot to keep it clean. I had to switch from red to green and it was very easy to change filament, both by unloading and by just following up. Be sure to read the little manual. I have never got a clog yet. By loading directly, I did get a weird color, with red and green it wasn’t pretty, but I could see this being useful in applications to change colors often and create beautiful effects, although that is likely not recommended since it could cause clogs. The pen fits nicely in my hand and is easy to manipulate. I was worried it would be big, but it is just right.

Favorite Christmas gift!
My son's favorite Christmas gift! He's asked for a 3d pen for almost a year and I did a ton of research on them all. I chose this one because of his age and being a beginner but not too much of a beginner that it was too childish. Turns out he loves it! Plays with it almost daily! Make sure when you order the plastic, get the specific type it calls for. The pen WILL jam with the wrong type.
