Paint SCENTsations! Vanilla Bean scent was the perfect solution for painting our entire condo without having to move out for a few days. I am very sensitive to strong chemical smells, including the new Zero VOC paints on the market. I had our painter use these in one gallon of paint and do one room first to see how it works. Once he was done with the first room, I immediately told him to use it for the entire paint job. So, here is my final verdict one month after painting the entire condo including ceilings, doors, and inside closets: The scent: Vanilla Bean is a very mild and pleasant scent if you are looking to "play safe." I would say 99% of people enjoy the vanilla scent. The interesting thing about this scent is that I smell more coconut than vanilla. The product contains "a gentle touch of peach and coconut, hints of tonka bean and warm vanilla," according to the manufacturer. Longevity: While the painting job was being completed and immediately after, the scent was strong enough to notice all the time, and yet pleasant enough to stand around. My husband and I work from home and we did not get sick from the scent or annoyed in any way. Even the painters enjoyed working with it since it was, according to them, a pleasant and better scent than just paint smells. One month today, after the job has been completed, we can still smell hints of vanilla and coconut when we come back home, although the scent is not as strong anymore. Now, it's just a nice and soft scent throughout the house. When we have visitors, however, they immediately compliment on how nice our home smells. Possibly because they don't live here and have not grown accustomed to the scent as we did. Interactions: Some reviewers here mentioned stricks on the walls after using this product. Honestly, we did not have this issue at all. As you can see in the picture (taken immediately after the job was completed), the paint is even and looks amazing as it should. We choose Cool December DEW383 by Dunn-Edwards for the entire job. It's a very light form of white and stricks would definitely show if there were any. It also helps if you have a professional painter doing the job rather than trying to DIY it. But if you do decide to DIY, make sure to follow the instructions and mix it very well. Summary: Paint SENTsations works very well for masking unpleasant paint smells and covering up old smells inside closets and walls. The vanilla bean scent is mild and welcoming without overpowering any room with a strong perfume-type scent. The scent diminishes with time leaving behind just hints of vanilla and coconut noticeable only as you return home after a few hours. It did not, in our personal experience, damaged the paint or cause any stricks on the walls. Overall, we give this product 5 stars and will use it again for any other future paint jobs. I can also see how beneficial this product can be for property owners repainting before renting, or anyone freshening up the paint job to sell a home. If I was still looking for a rental, I would definitely appreciate entering a property and immediately having the welcoming vanilla/coconut scent all around. While we understand that the scent will probably be completely gone in a month or so, my husband and I are very happy with the outcome. Great idea. Excellent product.
