Good product for several reasons

I ordered these pieces of hickory because I wanted something to use that would impart good wood-fire flavor to my grilled foods without having to spend too much on a small quantity. This is a large package for a good price (at the time of this review). The wood does not seem to have any characteristics denoting lower quality than hickory you'd use for any practical purposes. The flavor was great. I'd say one thing that I personally enjoy about the product was that it includes different sizes of wood, so you get to select the thickness of wood chunks based on your needs. A lot of the time while grilling, it's good to have different chunk sizes because they will impart the flavor over time, rather than all at once. One of the issues with the finer wood chips that are popular is that they are often uniformly thin, which means they burn quickly. With a variation in chunk size, you get some pieces that burn off quickly and some that burn more slowly, thus imparting your wood flavor over more time.

Would recommend using another brand of wood chunks

Half the bag wasn't even chunks, it was rough slivered pieces and bark. Additionally, this is more expensive than if you were to run to your local store and purchase an actual bag of chunks, and not this mix and match of wood scraps. Will not purchase again.

It's wood!

I smoke food a LOT. Most of the time I smoke food about 3 to 4 times a week. I'm always quite literally burning through wood. These are great. They're not too small to the point where they go up in flames easily, but they're just big enough so they don't take forever to start smoking. Would definitely recommend these.

Typical Mesquite. Lots of small chunks and pieces

Great product awesome for cooking. Big nice solid chunks but they were more bits and pieces than I would’ve liked to see. A little bit expensive to do a repeat order

Great Wood chunks!

Great flavor and burn time. The chunks are similar in size so you can estimate when more are needed. I use these with Cowboy wood lump charcoal on a OJ Longhorn grill and everything i smoke turns out great! Highly recommended, although my first order from Amazon delivered a bag that was all taped up. I weighed it though and it was heavier than what i ordered so i didnt ding them for it. I have been buying these from Menards and other local stores and this is a bit cheaper.
