Love this scoop

Purchased this scoop over two years ago and although the coating starting to chip it has been used almost daily and works wonderfully. Everyone around says it is the best ice cream scoop they have ever used. Love it and getting ready to replace the one we have now with a new one. Wish there were a way to buy without the coating but it works well for its intended purpose. It has only chipped due to storage.

Perfect Scoop and perfect design

This scoop is actually pretty incredible. Goes through ice cream with ease forming perfect shapes. Gets warm even without putting it in warm water.

Here's the scoop on a pretty good ice cream Scoop!

Scooping ice cream can be a hassle. I particularly don't like letting my ice cream thaw before scooping and with most ice cream scoopers that is a necessary evil. A friend told me she loved her ice scooper with anti-freeze and she described it working like a hot knife through butter. I purchased the Norpro Nonstick Anti-freeze Ice Cream Scoop and I must say the results have been pleasing. Despite the fact that the scoop that my friend owned was a high-end version, The norpro still impressed me. The scoop slices through frozen solid ice cream with ease and it falls away from the scoop with no problem. With that said, I do think there is a trick to using this scoop. It does not work well if you just take it out of the drawer and begin scooping. I find that holding it firmly by the handle and shaking it for a few seconds prepares it for the task of scooping through frozen treats. This has worked for me repeatedly and I can leave the ice cream in the freezer until I am ready to scoop. My theory is that by shaking the anti-freeze, the heat from my hand is transfered to the scoop making the scoop like a hot knife...or maybe more like a warm knife! On the first scoop I still need to apply a little pressure but its not nearly the workout it used to be with your typical ice cream scoop and of course the more you scoop the easier it gets. The Norpro Nonstick Anti-Freeze Ice Cream Scoop is a GOOD buy!

Works pretty well

Like many others in the reviews here, I ended up with this because I was tired of rust or plating falling off of the other scoops I've had in the past. I thought this would be worth a shot. I won't say i slices through anything like a hot knife in butter, but it does work well. Should be less of a threat of peeling or pitting, and ultimately that was my goal here, but others have reported it so we'll see how this holds up over time. The liquid inside may or may not be the reason, but this DOES cut through the icecream better than my old pitted metal scoop. Much easier, far less resistance, balls the ice cream up well and it falls right out. No pushing it against the side of the bowl to get it to drop out of the scoop. Cleans very easy and scoops better than anything else I've used, and shouldn't come apart - all that for an insanely cheap price. Can't beat that.

This is the best ice cream scoop I have tried

I got this as a back up for when my main ice cream scoop is dirty but this is actually so much better it has become the main one. The scoops are a bit smaller which I actually like but it scoops and releases the ice cream so well - I am actually considering buying a second one and putting the other one in my donation pile. I know it is weird to be this excited about an ice cream scoop but it is just so good and easy to use and it is so rare to find something that really just does what it should so well these days.

This is one of those rare items where cheaper mean better. Whoever designed this scoop is a genius. Pros: -Given the price and the picture you will think it's made out of plastic... Well it's not, it's made of some metal. - if your freezer is too cold, don't worry, this scoop is sturdy enough and the edges are thin enough to be able to get a good scoop of an almost rock solid ice cream without effort. -The blackish color comes from a nonstick coating very similar to those found on frying pans. So it really is slippery and the ice cream just falls off on it's own just by inclining the scoop and letting gravity take over. - This thing is amazing, it not only works better than most but this scoop is also less expensive than most. Sometimes around half the price. Cons: None unless you don't want it to be black. Other thoughts: I don't know if it's really filled with anti-freeze liquid and how much marketing is involved into that statement, but I don't really care since it works like a charm. Couldn't be happier with my choice.

Lasted 11 years, then, the aluminum started to show through. Order an OXO Good Grips Stainless Scoop

I liked this just fine, and it DID last 11 years, but saw that the black coating was coming off, and the aluminum from which it is made was showing through. Pitched it, and ordered an OXO Good Grips Ice Cream Scoop. At least with that, the scoop is stainless. Don't want to eat aluminum "anything"!
