Stays sharp for great cuts
Easy to use. Makes great cuts on apples as well as some pears.

Really like this but...
I really like this. I'm glad I bought it. Easy to use. I learned quickly to push as slow as I can to make sure I'm lined up still before I push it that last little bit. The cutter cut a deep groove in the plastic on the bottom when it came unaligned while pushing through the apple and the blades didn't fall in between the raised areas of the base and instead hit the raised areas. I prefer this to the ones without the base because it actually does cut all the way through.

Good functionality, saves time, probably won't last.
I got this for dehydrating apples for family and friends. Overall I like the product a lot, but after using it for a couple a couple of months (estimated, on about 75 apples) there are a few issues with the design. Pros: it works and saves a lot of time. The metal blades (essentially welded razor blades) have held up so far without breaking, even with the amount of force required to push through the average apple (it requires some body weight). No mishaps with cuts to fingers. The product is sturdy and even though I couldn't find guidance on using a dishwasher, the blade portion held up without issue in the dishwasher. I hand wash the plastic guide. The plastic material looks like it might melt. The blades don't show any rust yet. The cons: the plastic guide is slightly misaligned with the blades. Even when you align it with the arrows, it's nearly impossible to get the blades to push through exactly with the guide. The guide is essential if you don't want to smash your fingers, risk bad cuts, break or damage the blades, and be able to slice through an apple easily and safely. Given the amount of force required to push through an apple, that leads to inevitable damage to the plastic guide, which clearly isn't going to hold up, long-term. It is also leading to dulling and slight nicks (so far) in the blades. It may lead to the blades breaking in the future. I'll update if that happens. Overall it's currently working and I'm pretty satisfied with the functionality, but I don't expect this to last for more than a few hundred apples.

Makes fantastic thin slices
I bought this because my dentist told me I shouldn’t bike into apples anymore and I was tired of coring and slicing them with a pairing knife. It does take a bit of force to get it through firmer types of apples and you must be careful to have it aligned right for the final push (I’ve already nicked the plastic of the central raised part that lifts the core). I find it’s easiest to clean it by putting a bit of dish soap on the base, holding the 2 pieces together and then filling the blade area with hot water (and therefore suds) before rinsing. It may also be dishwasher safe but I’m not sure and haven’t tried it. 16 slices makes even a smallish apple feel like a lot for a snack!

Great for pies
This creates the perfect sized slices for a pie or eating. My only comment is it doesn't always cut cleanly all the way through, and there are still a few small pieces of the edge of the core left. But it is easier and more consistent than cutting and cutting by hand. Update: I discovered it does cuts cleanly all the way through if you use it like the directions say. I get individual slices now, perfect for eating, without any extra work. Those tiny pieces of core must be small enough I don't notice because I've eaten several apples now, perfectly sliced, and haven't had to spit anything out.

Functional
I had to use my body weight to press it down since no apples could centered perfectly. Because of it, the base core is already a little torn. But it is still a good tool to use.

I appreciate that it makes 16 slices.
I appreciate the this one makes 16 slices, of the apple. I had ordered the Oxo Slicer, which only makes eight slices. I ended up returning it, and got this one instead. I’d prefer this one. It all depends on what you want, but this one works well for me, it is very sturdy, and easy to use and clean.
