Mirror polished 18/10ss
This is sharp, solid, quality metal. The only wish I have is for them to make a 12 or 16 slice available. Any others I have found are 304ss at best.

Rosie never fails to be a great utensil
I love all the Rosle tools and own many. The price point is a bit more than others, but the longevity is well worth it. I have my Role tools hanging on a Rosle tool bar right at the "command center" stove.

Well made, works better than any other apple cutter I have tried...
There is criticism about being misled into thinking the Rosle apple cutter was made in Germany when it's made in China, but there is a difference in the term "engineered" and "made", and maybe because I am a skeptic I assume everything is made in China unless it claims “Made in the USA”, which can be verified and reported if fraudulent. It would be a huge plus to have been made in the US or Germany. First off we have used many different apple cutters throughout the years. We eat organic apples every day so we go through about 4-6 apples a day between the 4 of us. I held off on purchasing the Rosle apple cutter because of the price, but because I had to purchase a new garlic press and was tired of all the brands I had tried in the past I figured I would give the expensive Rosle garlic press a try to see if it would be worth it, and it was. Since I was extremely impressed with the Rosle garlic press, and we needed another apple cutter I bit the bullet and paid for the Rosle apple cutter. Rosle has a lifetime guaranty which is something none of the other apple cutters I have purchased come with and since I’m pretty good about using warranties, it made sense (so keep your receipts if you purchase a Rosle product). This is the first apple cutter I have actually been impressed with. No cheap plastic parts, extremely sharp, stainless steel so it's easy to sanitize / clean. The large handles make pressing down easy as well as the sharp blades. I read other criticism that it was not large enough for their apples, that the coring is to small and apple pieces would have to have the core manually cut out after they use it. These must be huge apples, maybe because my experience is with organic apples and they tend to be a bit smaller (organic apples we buy from CostCo, Mother's Market, Ralphs, and Wholefoods), I'm not sure, but I have never had an apple that was too large for it to cut and if the corer was larger it would waste part of the apple at least in our experience, so I'm grateful the corer is not larger. I have had to cut out part of the core in apple pieces after slicing from time to time, but I have never owned an apple cutter that I have not had to do that with and I have to say that with this one I do feel that it has been less, and sometimes an apple is oddly shaped and there is no getting around the core ending up in the pieces. The Good - Rosle lifetime warranty - All non-coated Stainless Steel Construction (Hygienic) - Extremely Sharp - Storage Guard - No Plastic parts The Bad - Pricey if lifetime warranty is not used - Made in China

Hard to use, no cover
It takes strength to use this. I'm not strong enough to open jars without a silicone gripper and I found it to be very hard to use. It's easier for me to just cut the pineapple apart with a knife. (That being said, I'm sure that my much stronger spouse would have no problem using this.) The first few rings I cut were the same thickness as every other pineapple ring I've ever seen, but because I couldn't keep pushing down super hard, the rest of the rings were about half to a third as thick as "normal." It took forever to cut, and pulling the cutter and pineapple out of the husk was hard… it took a couple of minutes of patient squeezing and pulling and made a juicy mess. I don't like that it doesn't come with a cover for the blade, especially as the whole contraption is necessarily large and awkwardly shaped… I can't find a safe place to store it in my small kitchen. I was concerned about pineapple fibers getting caught in the thin gaps between where the rod and the blade are connected (it's fused together in spots, but not all the way around), but everything rinsed away easily.

Expensive but fabulous!
In 2008 I purchased the Leifheit Pro Line Stainless Steel Apple Slicer/Corer from Amazon for $13.99 (no longer sold) because I wanted to cut an apple into 12 wedges. However, I took this one to work and wanted a cutter that was equal or better than the Leifheit. Although the Leifheit is a good cutter and more expensive than most store bought OXO Good Grips and other similar cutters, none of those I tried can compare to the quality of this Rosle Apple Cutter. However, this Rosle cutter only cuts 8 apple wedges instead of 12, but that is fine with me. This apple slicer from Germany is expensive but it is SURPRISINGLY worth the purchase. It cuts through apples as if they were butter because the blades are sharp and fine. It also comes with a protective plastic blade guard / shield to cover the blades when not in use. There's also a hole in the handle for hanging from a hook. If it weren't for the other reviewers, I would not have purchased this item because I thought there couldn't possibly be so much difference. Boy was I wrong. It is the best cutter I have ever used. UPDATE Nov 5, 2022 - I've been using this slicer since August of 2010 and it is still going strong. I absolutely love it. I wish they had a 12 or 16-slicer version as I would buy it.

It Doesn’t Come Much Better Than This
This Corer produces consistent quality Coring time after time. Without a doubt, the best I’ve used or come across. Teeth are sharp so hardly any effort needed to use. Quality is excellent. Surprisingly, it’s much lighter than I thought given the gauge of steel it’s made from. This is another of my go to Utensils from Rosle. Thoroughly recommend.
