Easy to use, easy to clean!
I bought this along with several other kitchen gadgets using Amazons 4-for-3 promotion. It's been something I've wanted, but didn't necessarily need. Now that we have it though, I'm very glad I bought it. It makes slicing apples easy and quick. Normally when I make apple pie I peel, cut and core by hand, but with this it cut out one step all together and saved quite a bit of time. Plus the apples were even so they cooked better. Clean up is easy too, just rinse under some hot water or put on the top rack of your dishwasher.

Works well
I eat a lot of apples, so I use this once, twice, sometimes three times a day. It has held up well so far for several months of this daily use. Slices them well and easily and cleans up well. The padded handles make it comfortable to press down. Another reviewer complained that some of the core gets into the slices. I've noticed that can happen if the apple doesn't sit square on the counter, with the top level. Some apples just grow in a way that makes them a little tilted. So for those apples I simply slice the bottom just enough so that the apple sits on the counter properly and the core is perpendicular to the counter. Press down, and the core stays in the center.

Nice corer for the price
This corer is sharp, and easy to use. I do not have a dishwasher, but it is easy to clean by running warm water over the metal and lightly scrubbing with a sponge and dishwashing liquid. The only downside is if your apples are slightly one-sided, it is hard to get the corer to slide over the apple. Overall this is a great buy, and it has encouraged me to eat more apples (and peanut butter!) The product arrived very quickly, in a small package, in perfect new condition.

nothing to compare it to
I have nothing to compare to because I have never bough a fruit wedger before, but it seems to do the job just fine. I suppose when I do end up purchasing another, I can let you know how it compares to this one. But, I do like this one and don't want to have to spend money on another any time soon.

Sturdy, works fine.
Pretty utilitarian - sturdy, non slip black handles - gets the job done. This is the cutter I keep in my desk at work for apples. I have a super nice totally stainless steel one from WS in my home kitchen, which I love, but that costs 5x more.

Works great!
This apple cutter works great and was cheaper than Bed Bath and Beyond. The slices cut evenly without the apple breaking in between. For best results, I have found it is better to shave off a bit of the top and bottom of the apple before slicing. Those parts are harder for this cutter to break into and can cause crooked slices.

Not impressed
During apple season, I decided to try canning some apple pie filling, and thought this tool would help me get it done more quickly. Not so. As I see it, this product has two main flaws. 1 - The diameter of the center is too small. Even when centered over the apple, I still had bits of core and seeds on some of my slices. This meant that I spent extra time using my knife to cut away the core. I have reasonable knife skills, so I think in the end, it would have been faster to just slice them the old fashioned way. The overall diameter of the product could stand to be increased as well; all of my apples did fit inside of it, but some of them were very close to not fitting. 2 - The cutting edge is not sharpened or honed in any way. This makes it really hard to push through the apple, especially if you're trying to keep it reasonably straight (to align with the core) I looked at some of the more expensive brands in the store after using this one, and they are sharpened on the cutting edge. The pros for this product are the same you'd get from any slicer- you get consistently sized apple slices.

Great little kitchen helper
I have used this corer many times and it makes apple coring a much easier job. I especially like the feel of the handles. They are not just metal but have a plastic coating to give a more comfortable grip. Also, their design makes it easier to center the apple core all the way through the cut.
