I like the fill Valve - it is everything else you need to watch out for
The fill valve is easy to install without tools as advertised, IF you can get the old one out without resorting to a pair of pliers. I had to tighten it a few extra clicks to stop the leaking upon initial testing. It adjusts easily and just makes sense. I haven't been able/willing to test the leak prevention as I don't want to waste the water, but hope it works if ever needed. I bought this with theMJSI HYR270 HydroRight Drop-in Dual Flush Converter to update the old ball style float and water wasting flapper. They both work, but my fill tube wasn't tall enough. I measured 7 1/2 inches from the bottom of the tank, but for the half flush, it wasn't clearing the bowl. I found this product,Extension Sleeve for an over-flow tube which allowed an extra inch of water in the tank and now both flushes work as advertised. If you buy the dual-flush converter and you overflow tube is not tall enough, that is your solution. I went to Home Depot and talked to the plumbing helper, and the only other solution is to replace the whole thing, which requires removing the tank, and requires a few more tools. Be prepared. Beware of the push button on the dual flush converter. With the push button behind the toilet seat/cover, it requires you to either close the lid (which the wife may like) or use 2 hands to hold the cover and push the button. The other option is theONE2FLUSH Dual Flush Toilet Conversion Kit Bonus Pack with new improved handle design, Better Fill water saving fill valve 3 St. Steel Bolts,Tank Bowl Gasket. Convert existing toilets to efficient dual flush toilets that Exceed Green Plumbing Codes. but it requires more time and tools to install. It took me about 1 hour, but when it was done, i didn't need any extra parts. Everything was included. I also like it a little better with the handle. It all depends if your current handle is behind the lid of the toilet cover/seat or on the side. It would be ok for side mounted handles (Not where the handle is on the front of the water tank where the seat cover would touch it) Update:--- After over a year - the other option has been replaced with the push button after it failed. I like the look of the handle option, but when you leave the lid open (kids) and just push the handle down to flush - the handle doesn't go back up and ends up leaving the water running for hours (or days if you leave for vacation at 5am and don't triple check the toilet) and ends up wasting more water than you could ever save with a dual flush toilet. Replaced with button style dual flush and still like it.

Not for Use with High-Rise Tank Toilets
I thought the design of this was clever and would be worth installing instead of the cheaper units available at the hardware stores, but it has flaws. Installation is a little tricky because of the tube that runs along the base of the tank that stirs sediment up so it will go down the drain. The tubing is relatively stiff and not shaped properly to fit in the tank. You have to run hot water into your sink and let the tubing sit in the hot water to soften it up. Then you can mold it to fit your tank and make sure all the outlet holes are point in the proper direction. I was able to hold it to the shape I wanted with my hands and then put it into cold water to anneal it in the proper shape. You also need to heat the end that slips over the water feed nipple from the fill valve or it will be too hard to slip over and you could break the nipple off. Once I did all of that, I thought I was home free. It seemed to work OK, but is really noisy when the tank is filling. I had to warn the household so they would not think something was wrong with it when they flushed. I have a high-rise Kohler Wellworth model toilet, and after about 3 days, the flapper valve started to leak. It was a very slow leak of about 1.5 gallons per hour. When I turned the water fill off after a fill and just watched it, it would drain about 2/3 of the tank, at the slow rate mentioned, and then seal, again. I tested this several times, and it always did the same thing. I went and bought the Kohler brand name flapper valve and replaced the one that came with the kit, and it has been working fine every since. There was nothing visibly wrong with the flapper valve seat, but I did note that the material was much softer and more flexible than the brand name flapper. My guess is that the high water column put more force on the valve than a lower profile tank would put on it, causing the valve to flex into the opening and cause the sealing surface to be distorted. I bought 2 of these units to have a spare for my other toilet, same high-rise model, but due to the problems that I had and how noisy the unit is, I returned the second one. Also, if you watch what goes on in the tank, the bottom is stirred up during the entire fill cycle, but sediment is making its way down the drain only while the flapper is open. Once it closes, everything that is stirred up at that point, settles back down onto the bottom. The adjustment on the bowl fill level does work when set as directed, so I hope to be using less water. Conclusions: if you have a low profile tank and don't mind a really noisy fill cycle, you might give it a try. If you have a high-rise tank, don't use it. It will only leak and give you grief.

Get rid of your old float valve!!!
Well made components and very easy to install. Very well engineered and extremely easy to adjust (without tools). The tank fill level can adjusted by turning a threaded linkage and the toilet bowl fill level can be adjusted by means of a quarter-throw lever-- very nice. No more grimy brass or plastic screws to see-saw adjust. It's quite evident that every part of this product was well thought out. Even the valve nut was engineered so that it could not be over tightened (a common mode of failure for leaks at the tank/valve union). Be sure, when installing the valve nut that the valve tower's seal is well seated into your tank's opening. If it's off, even by a little, you'll have a leak when the tank fills. A gentle "jiggle" (yes, that's the official plumbing term) while hand tightening the nut helps prevent possible leaks during installation. The instructions state, "1 - 3 audible clicks" until tight, however that would be fine if you toilet's tank is dimensionally perfect. Use your judgement as to how tight "hand tight" is so as to make sure it won't spring a leak. Fill times are dramatically faster than what I previously in my tanks (in fairness, they were 15 year old float valves). On a very old Cranada 6 LPF of almost 3 minutes this valve pulls a 44 second flush-to-fill time. I'm not quite sure why I didn't replace my toilet fill valves with this type of system before now. Thumbs up! UPDATE: 11 months on and it's doing great. The only problem is that the flapper chain fell off once-- easily remedied by a cable tie. UPDATE: +7 years on and it has finally shown signs of failure. The main valve body has developed a hairline crack when the valve is open/filling the tank. I will likely replace it which the same model or a FM brand but this exact model has skyrocketed in price here. That said, I am happy with the performance over +7 years considering the original price paid.

It works!
It’s working great. Initially had to set the height a couple of times before we realized how to lock it in place. No problems since.

this valve really makes a difference on cleaning the toilet tank. Just brought the second one, possibly would buy a third.
