Great flapper for the crapper

I want to give my local hardware store the business, but this one is too easy and cheap, the exact same model for American Standard toilet. Make sure the chain is identical length and your all set. No serching the aisles for the right one, hoping it is.

fixed water leak! full flush sweet

OK to install instructions lacking info , muddled though replacement. Flapper needed to be unsnapped from base of overflow tube use care this is plastic. Old flapper had a blister on the gasket / sealing surface its is a normal with American Standard flapper gasket / sealing surface in mine experience. It seams like normal maintenance every three to four years. I did not shop around. I wanted an OEM part. Yes I recommend

Exact Replacement

This is an exact replacement part. I don't know why the original only lasted six years, but it is what it is! Very easy to install since I just had to match the settings (like chain length) of the original.

Not an American Standard part

You can get this Fluidmaster 540 at any hardware store for less money. Mine came with the flapper setting at 0 (zero) which will cause most toilets to have an incomplete flush. No setting instructions came with this item, but you can get them online from Fluidmaster. Start with a "5" (five) and adjust from there. My American Standard Cadet is fine at the "8" setting.

I first bought a generic flapper valve from the hardware store. Fresh out of the packaging, it leaked worse than the worn American Standard Flapper in my toilet. I ordered the original from Amazon, very easy to change out and works perfectly. Well worth the cost, especially if your water is metered.
