Yes, high quality rubber, it seals well!
I ordered this a while ago, and didn't find it workable at first, since the hole in the rubber was a lot larger than the nut on the brass screw that my actuator had, but when I finally pulled out the actuator, and removed the old nut (the only way to do it), the replacement brass nut that came with this rubber part, made this a push on seat disc once again, and seals well too. Little to no seeping water with this one-it's a keeper! If you need the whole assembly, this one is a great deal: American Standard #5 Flush Valve 47089-0700 sold here on Amazon too. If it's the right part you need, it's a bargain in comparison. Hard to say if it seals as well as this one, but it should, being an American Standard part, not a replacement. This replacement seat disc works as it should though, and seals as it should. If it is all you want, then it's half price of the whole unit previously mentioned. Check out Youtube for installation videos-they are helpful and instructive, and give you more understanding about how these parts all work and what you might need. Hope this helps some of you who need it.

Supple enough to seal well
This part worked perfectly to replace my screw-on style flapper disc. It is supple enough to form a nice seal and it doesn't leak. It's 3 inches wide and fits perfectly in my super old American Standard toilet. Once I figured out the part I needed, the repair took me a total of 15 mins.

Flexible enough to properly seal
More expensive than others, but worth it, since it actually works! I tried two other similar-looking ones that I bought from -- and returned to -- the big box home improvement store. They were both made from harder rubber, with the six "spokes" extending all the way to the outer edge of the ring. That combination made the disc too stiff, preventing it from making a proper seal with the base, which resulted in those annoying and wasteful "phantom flushes". This is clearly more flexible and works as it was meant to!

Easy to change
Easy to change and was heavier than original which helps to seal. Seemed more expensive than needed, but as long as they last I'm happy.

The shortened spokes allow it to seal over the flush valve.
This black flush valve seal work well to stop water running. This is because of the short spokes. However don’t get the red one with the spokes that go right to the edge as it becomes too rigid to seal the flush valve and allows water to leak into the toilet bowl and causes the toilet to flush. Unfortunately the manufacturer has packaged the red long spokes seal under the same product # as the short spoke black one shown in the picture. As a result they shipped the red long spiked seal and not the working black short spoke version. So I had to return the red one. Hopefully they will notify the manufacturer to correct their packaging mistake.

Sealed my toilet flush valve
Shipped not as described and doesnt look anything like the photo. That being said worked great to seal the valve and much better than a big box store unit I had bought previously

good seal
Used this on our old American Standard. The brass adapter was not needed, which can be removed so that it popped onto the toilet's float assembly. No more running toilet in the night.

Not worth the extra money
Very disappointed with this product mainly because it's misrepresentation ..... The product I receive looks nothing like the picture Red rubber no brass insert, in fact it looks exactly like the one that Amazon sells for $7 Did it work yes but I don't imagine it works any better than the one for $7.... Buy that one !!!

Not Snap-on Style
The description is incorrect; it is not snap-on style. I tried unsuccessfully to enlarge the socket to fit the snap-on style. The disk otherwise appeared to be well constructed and supple.
