Great look, flawed filing design- monoprice round corner 3drawer file cabinet
The media could not be loaded. I'm so disappointed I didn't read reviews which is odd, I typically do. There's no concrete photos showing the bottom drawer of this "filing" cabinet First off Amazon has started combining reviews for things that don't match what I'm interested in- so to be clear I'm reviewing monoprice round corner 3drawer file cabinet. Someone else posted a photo and I wish I saw it prior. I'm not going to return bc it's a hassle I'll be checking with staples to add or modify this, but I don't recommend this furniture for filing normal size files. Width 13.25" from hanging hooks over, if your files are like mine 11.75" this just won't fit width wise like I assumes. You have 5 slots to connect two metal slats they provide, but it's really not helpful. That space between the two slats deep-wise is 5 in (front to back) weird. Why not have slots along the entire length/depth of the drawer??? So then you just need one slat to determine the length/depth and you can connect the files from front to back facing left or right. Not facing the opening of the drawer... and then there is a dip in the slat for the file to get stuck on. Anyway made a vid to help because this design from looking at it, is nice, but flawed filing design. ????

Not as bad as expected
Ordered directly from monoprice.com before I saw it here. After ordering I saw the reviews about the files not fitting but I didn't think the situation as quite as dire as some seem to think although this is certainly a case where this could have potentially been a great cabinet and because it's poorly thought out its only kind of meh. 1. Looks good, arrived well packed and seems to have reasonably beefy drawer slides 2. If you want to hang legal files you're golden - take the middle hanging rail out and move the other to the first slot and hang the legal files from the front rail and the back edge of the drawer. (see the pic) Then it gets weird as there doesn't appear to be any combination of slots and edges that will let you hang letter files. There is an "adapter" on monoprice.com for $8.00 (item #39848) but it appears to just hang from the drawer sides which my guess means that once there is weight on them they are going to tend to move around as you open and close the drawer. In other similar systems it always seems like the files want to slip off such rails. My guess is this is an attempt to mitigate a poor manufacturing decision of not including slots near the back of the drawer so that you could use the hanging rails that come with it for hanging letter files. The slots are so close together at the front that I'm not sure what the second rail is even for. 3. You could choose to just forgo hanging files but there's no adjustable support so unless the drawer is full or you prop something behind it the files are going to tend to flop over as you operate the drawer. Will be interesting to see how it holds up over time. TL;DR - Looks good and could have been great but poor design makes it bad or tedious to do what you'd expect a file cabinet to do - hold files. Update 01/19/21 - Still only a week or so in but overall still reasonably happy with the cabinet. Realized that the space that needs to be made up to hang standard letter-sized pendaflex files facing front is pretty much the thickness of a US sheet of 3/4 inch plywood plus a 1/8 aluminum flat bar. (See third pic) Used a couple of small pan head screws through some existing holes in the drawer sides to secure. My plywood blank is 9.5 by 17.5 inches and the bar extends up about an 1/8th of a inch to be level with the top of the drawer side which is just about right for standard hanging folders. One thing I noticed since first receiving the cabinet is that the images on Amazon don't show it but on the cabinet I received there is a small anti-tip wheel at the bottom center of the bottom drawer so if the drawer is heavily weighted or used a lot I wonder if its going to leave a wear pattern. (See pic #2)

2-Drawer File Cabinet
I love this file cabinet. I bought it to store craft supplies, so I don't need to hang files. The seat cushion is super convenient, too. Highly recommend if you need some attractive storage space by your desk.

Bad file cabinet.
I did not like this file cabinet at all! First, the drawer is too wide to hang the folders! WTF?! This is a file drawer that does not fit the hanging folders. Really disappointed! Second, it came with 2 sets of keys that fold but do not snap to a fixed position. Therefore, they are not functional and may break easily. Don’t bother buying this item.

Files don’t fit!
Files don’t fit right. Even if you turn the files the long way, the hanging pendeflex files are still not quite long enough to stay on the track. The construction of the unit is good, but someone forgot to measure the drawers for files correctly. Don’t waste your money!

Fails at it's most basic function.
The bottom drawer is too wide for hanging folders. Bought a drop in metal hanging folder system, and it's too high so the drawer pushes all the folders around. Utilizing tabs isn't even an option. Did anyone at Monoprice even try to put a file folder in this thing?

It's just OK
Likes: - It has locking casters. - It has a drawer lock. - It has smooth drawers. - It's low enough to fit under my desks at their lowest setting. Dislikes: - It doesn't have an anti-tip wheel on the file drawer. - The sheet steel is thin gauge and dents easily (mine arrived with a dent). - The seat fabric shows dust and lint quickly, and looks gross to sit on. - The seat is uncomfortable. - Assembly is subpar. Initially, I wanted the Vari model, but cost was about double. I think this could suffice for a home office if you don't have a lot of files, and if you don't need them frequently. Overall, the assembly (both materials chosen and way that it's assembled) seems subpar. The sheet steel is thin and will dent easily. The drawer slides are not installed with a properly sized screw. The seat collects dust and lint so quickly, and it's so uncomfortable, that guests usually opt to drag over a dining room chair. I wouldn't buy this one again, but I don't use it enough to care all that much. If you plan to use your cabinet heavily, look elsewhere. For a piece of office furniture that you'll likely keep for a decade, it's probably worth it to spend a little more and get something better.
