Very large chunks
Cooks just fine, was able to make a great brisket. Can't beat the price, works just as well as other more expensive brands

Value, performance, longevity and rich flavor
Pros: Fair price. Good flavor. It smells a little stronger than some, but pleasant and robust. Performance: Burns long and responds well to restricted or increased airflow. Perfect for reverse searing, high heat grilling or low n slow smoking. The size of the pieces range from briquette sized to larger than a fist, with minimal chips and useless small pieces at the bottom of the bag. This stuff is dense and very hard. I think this contributes to the longevity and the perfect sizing because it doesn't break apart easily, allowing it to survive shipping and handling a little better than other brands. Very important for a commodity like this that is shipped across country and handled a lot. Cons: Takes a bit longer to light. This is actually a good sign, meaning that it won't just burn up really fast. It smokes a little more than some brands upon first lighting, and sometimes sparks and pops a bit. Kinda fun if you're a pyro like me, but be aware of the fire hazard. Conclusion: If the price remains at or below $1 a pound I will continue using this stuff. I like it better than FOGO, all things considered because it's half the price and actually performs better, with a similar smell (although stronger). I am on my 7th bag of this stuff and so far it has been consistently the best overall value, flavor and performance.

You can ignite with a clean coffee filter scooped into bacon grease

Good but expensive
Good sized lumps, burns well, flavour is good. But it is expensive, at 7kg for this amount. Big k is about half the price, assuming you go for a decent grade via their website (avoid red bagged bigk from stores!). I'm happy, this product does what it should. Finding good lump is surprisingly difficult these days. Attached a a photo with naff bigk red next to this, for comparison, in the same tub. You can see the difference in size!

This is a great lump out of the couple I've tried it holds heat for a couple hours even with a half chimney starters worth

Good value!
I normally use KJ Big Block but chose the Masterbuilt for a quicker delivery as plans happened upon us. I am very happy with the choice! Lit easily. Didn't spark. Held constant temps. Maybe burned a little quicker than KJ, but not by much, still used my normal amount and easily held temps to do two pork shoulders.

Decent product.
Good lumps,up to now, from the bag. It burnt a bit quick, so put plenty on. Food flavour was unaffected.

Burns HOT -Great Cigar type smell --
Good old Amazon is great at delivering the next day and saving me a trip to the hardware store to purchase lump charcoal. This stuff seems to be about the same size bag as I normally buy at the hardware store and for about the same price. I burn it in my Big Green Egg barbecue and find that it does a very satisfactory job. As a man who loves that lump charcoal barbecue taste this product works just as well as any other lump charcoal I've had and I notice often has a slight cigar type smell--in a good way--when I know I'm going to be busy and can't maybe make it to the store I will order this from time to time as it's so convenient but will continue to purchase from my local hardware store to keep business flowing their way as well.
