Squirrel can't chew through this one

I had two good size feeders in the yard. The feeding ports (where the birdies perch and eat) were made of plastic. My furry friends chewed through the ports, rendering the openings so large the seeds poured out. Very annoying. So I changed one of the feeders for this model. The perches and seed openings are metal as well as the wire cylinder holding the seeds. Works perfectly !

Great size, but easily damaged

This a great bird feeder in terms of size and design. It’s easy to fill and the birds in my yard are very attracted to it. It does damage easily. It had a couple of dents from shipping, but didn’t seem bad enough to return it for. Since having it out, it’s gotten a few more dents from squirrels getting on top of it. I’m not sure if it will last long, but it’s now doing the job.

pretty sturdy

This is the first bird feeder of this kind I've purchased. I always bough the one that had the plastic compartment that held the seed. I believe the top and bottom of that kind of feeder was metal, but the little clips that attached the bottom of the feeder to the tube part were plastic. Only took one fall from the tree branch to bust off one of the plastic clips. That happened to 2 separate bird feeders that I had, both the same kind, plastic tube, metal top and bottom. No more I said. And researched until I found this one. This feeder too got knocked off the tree branch, once, but with it being metal, it only bent the bottom of the feeder a slight bit. Not to take any more chances, at the end of every day the bird feeder goes into the garage. So with that being said, I think this bird feeder is a good product, a decent price and sturdy. Cheers!

easy to open with one hand

I have these bird feeders all over my yard and I painted them bright colors and when I look out and see them and the little birds and some very large birds eating it makes me happy. I have arthritis and these are easy to open with one hand and pour birdseed in with the other.

Sock length is actually 16 inches

I chose these thistle seed socks specifically because I needed a shorter sock The dimensions noted in the product description describe them as 8.7 x 4.7 x .25 inches (don't know what the quarter inch relates to, as this is a flat item), but the sock length is actually 16 inches. I hang thistle socks for my local finches in a feeding structure that has a little roof and a deep rim at the base to catch the surprisingly large amount of seed that falls out of just about any brand of thistle/nyjer sock feeder. I suspend the socks from the underside of the roof of the feeding structure, which isn't tall enough to accommodate a 16-inch sock. So I tied off the bottom with a single knot and inadvertently discovered that it results in far fewer seeds falling out. Most seed socks seem to lose seeds from the two lower corners, but in tying off the bottom, there are no corners. So though these socks are longer than i need, I'm going to keep buying them and tying off the bottoms. The socks have been holding up well, and they wash easily so I can use them again.

The feeder is very easy to fill.

I like how easy the feeder is to open. In the winter this is a definite plus. Nothing freezes shut. Just press the button and the lid pops up.

Great bird feeder for smaller birds

Great feeder for smaller birds however the weight of pigeons wore the hanger wire through, it fell, and the bottom plate broke into 5 pieces.

Worth it even if received broken

I received it with the top lid broken; it was missing an attach or something because the spring kept the door open and I had no way to close it. I removed the spring to let the lid drop and used the feeder anyway. Birds love it! Actually, squirrels also love it; especially the part where they can just open the top lid and pick what they want! (For info, I like squirrels, so I'm not trying to make it hard for them) I would buy again, but I sure would love to see a version that isn't broken.

Beautiful,sturdy,very colorful

Best birdfeeder i ever bought. Squirrels cannot get into but they can sit on the bottom plate. Birds love it. The perches are long enough for them to sit comfortably. The bright color enhances yard

Updated Review!

I got one of theses last year, and without using it I posted a positive review. Because of the colour and it was sturdy. I put it out in May although the colour held up, the holes in the bottom where the seeds come out are too small, every time it rained they clog up terribly. And over and by the end of summer it was full of rust. I threw it in the trash.

Best Feeder I have ever Purchased!

This is a very well-made & sturdy feeder which is what I needed for our high winds. I like the curved bottom as less seed is scattered. It is very attractive & the little nuthatches, finches & chickadees seem to like it the most!
